It seems that the Cab is pretty quiet most days until later in the evenings. After about 10:00 pm the party gets rolling and there's always enough dancers to go around. I agree that it is still early and I am sure there will be some enforcement in the form of stings, etc. However, after seeing the press release from Calgary police, it is pretty obvious that although they will abide by the new law, they won't go out of their way to target average citizens. I think MacKay underestimates the people who really enforce laws in this country. He thought he could get on his pulpit and create this travesty and everybody would just fall into line but he doesn't understand that the cops, prosecutors and judges in this country can see the bigger picture here. I am cautiously optimistic that law enforcement officials will continue to do what they always have. Target the exploited and protect the ladies whenever something happens. The grieving process is a very personal journey and what each of us needs in order to move forward is often very different as a result the end of life ceremony can be uplifting and inspirational for some and lacking for others. Over the last few years I have had the misfortune of having to take a lead role in the planning of the funerals for several members of my close family... in each of these cases I took my cues from what I knew were the wishes of my family member who had passed one funeral was certainly of the more traditional type with a three day wake and interment at the grave side... it had the benefit of providing a feeling of bringing closure but was a much more subdued and difficult period of three or four days. The other funerals were less traditional with cremation first and the wake for lack of a better term occurring at a later time... these events were very much more upbeat celebrations of the lives of my family members which included their presence through pictures videos and lots of their favorite music... friends and family hugged and joked and laughed and cried in a very outgoing and wonderful celebration that I personally found extremely beautiful and something that I know my family member would have really appreciated. While I am so extremely happy to have been able to ensure that each of these arrangement met the wishes of my departed loved one I have come to understand that while each approach meets the needs of some the loss of a loved one is never so simple and the grieving process can be much more complicated. Some people need the closure time... they need to see and be in the presence of their departed loved ones they need to have a time to gracefully say their goodbyes others are not ready at that early stage to say their goodbyes but instead need time to reflect on the life of the person to move forward more slowly and take the time to share their experiences with the individual with others..... There is no right approach except the approach that is right for you. The more traditional funeral that I arranged was for my Mother who passed away after a wonderful long life after a short period of illness... there was of course grief and the feeling of loss but also the feeling of a life well lived.... it was difficult but peaceful. The other funerals were for much younger family members who passed tragically and undoubtedly too early in their lives...the celebration was amazing as it focused on the huge impact these people had in so many lives even if it was for a much shorter lifespan... for me i took great comfort from the celebration but I know some family felt it missed the feeling of closure because there was no viewing or internment. Death and Grieving is never easy and my personal experience over the last few years has changed me as a person... while I always felt I had compassion for people going through challenges in life I now feel I know what it is actually like to walk in their shoes so I intentionally now try to be more present for them. For online friends of course that is not possible but it is still important for people to know that when they are walking that difficult road that others including online friends have them in their thoughts. If you have a stalker CALL THE POLICE do not bring these problems (or encourage these people) to/on cerb. If it is a cerb member REPORT him/her to me and CALL the police. Posting about someone in public who is obviously unstable and harassing you will only make things worse and could encourage that person to escalate his/her attempts to harass you. If you have a TIFF with someone, keep it off cerb please. For example #2... If you work in a massage spa and as an escort on the site and you want to complain in public that guys are coming to see you in the massage spa and talking about your escorting (or looking for "extra's at the spa")... this is something you need to deal with privately not complaining on cerb about it. It has been an interesting six days since the passage of the new legislation. Something appears to be happening that I have never seen before and it boils down to, "What if they passed a law and nobody cared?" Since December 6th if you've been following it, there have news stories, editorials, public opinion commentaries, police force announcements, anecdotal stories, and many with the common theme that the law is foolish, unenforceable, a constitutional afront to the decision of the Supreme Court, and other than for abuse and trafficking and those sorts of things will be ignored. I for one would LOVE to have been a fly on the wall in the meeting rooms of Joy Smith, Peter MacKay, and some of the so called rescue groups that passed this legislation as they read the press releases. They must be beside themselves, but I do not think that they have given up their fight. Now, with me being me, I am not yet quite ready to say to all of those here who want to say to me, "I told you so," that I was wrong. :) It is still early days and as long as it is a law on the books it has its potential dangers. However when it is actually gone, nobody will be happier to admit that he was wrong than I !!!!! Keep supporting sex worker organizations and each other.

I think a couple of things deserve repeating Under rare circumstance, it may be the perfect gift, but as Cristy said above, owning a pet is a massive responsibility, with a lot of costs associated. Pets become a part of the family, and it is imperative that at least one or two members of the family feel the animal out first to see if they are a good fit. This is another point I completely agree with. I adopted a cat from a shelter, and he is the best animal companion I've ever had. He was already slightly old, but he has given my family immense joy. Kittens and puppies are adorable and oh so cute. But I'd say if you can, check out the older ones, they have more developed personalities and habits. You can see if they are affectionate or the ones that like to stay away.

Well I think everyone who has contributed to this thread are all right. I hate when the word 'feminism' gets construed as men hating, or someone out to get men, etc etc. And it also saddens me when it's an accurate depiction. It should not be. All feminism is, is the desire for things to be equal. And yes, we have gotten to the point where you can open a bank account without the permission of a man, but we are nowhere near where we should be. There are still tons of inequalities, from both sides. I have worked in male dominated industrial jobs most of my life. I started working in a mine when I was 19. It was a camp set up, week in week out. I was one of a handful of girls on site. It took 5 years before my 300 some colleagues stopped trying to sleep with me and actually became my friends. I can guarantee you that a 19 year old man has not had to deal with continuously being hit on for 5 years, while trying to politely decline everyone so that you don't come across as a b*ch. This is what feminism is trying to get rid of. Another site I worked at, a few of the older men still possess the view that women don't belong in industry. They have intentionally set up new female employees to do two-person jobs alone. This results in them getting injured. However, men never do this job alone. They always do it in pairs. They set new female employees up to fail just so that they can say "See, women don't belong. They can't do the job." This is what feminism is trying to get rid of. And there are countless other examples I've come across in my years as being a female. The one I probably hate the most deals with our children, and how girls are always told they are beautiful and pretty and have nice clothes and hair, and 'oh, how cute she is'. Whereas the boys get told they are strong, creative, smart, ingenious, thoughful, etc... And how girls who are assertive are 'bossy', and boys who are assertive are 'leaders'. Drives me nuts! We need to start in our own homes and in our own lives in order for change to occur. I have some favourite Ted Talks that are about the subject of inequality. I love the first one, and if you ever listen to anyone talk about this subject matter, this is the one you should listen to. It's a man speaking, if that helps ;-P Also, Emma Watson's UN speech was also brilliant.
