Will I be refused if I..

Recommended Posts

don't have a cellphone? Sorry, I wasn't sure where to ask this.

I am kind of new to this and just trying so settle some of my insecurities. I understand that a lot of escorts will only accept communication through text, those women aren't even in question. But for those who accept phone calls, If I were to call and say that I don't own a cellphone, would that be problematic to them for arranging a meetup? Am I going to get outright refusal?

Most providers would communicate through PM here or using regular email. And if they don't, you should question their legitimacy. Many channels of communications are available and the true professionals know how to make the most of it an efficient way. Text is mostly recommended to arrange the logistics of a booking, once the ice broken after an initial email or a phone conversation. All the best.

It all depends on the lady. But getting a cell phone really isn't an issue in this day and age, cheap pay as you go phones are available. Even at 7-11 with their "speak out wireless"

http://www.speakout7eleven.ca/prepaid-cell-phone-rates

And stores like Walmart

http://www.walmart.ca/en/electronics/mobile-phones/N-2413

and Wireless Wave

Just to name a couple offer pay as you go cell phone plans

I don't see it being a problem not having a cellphone.

Ladies have their methods of booking, there are alternatives to phone, such as PM and email.

I'm quite sure if you brought up the fact to a lady, she would find other suitable arrangements that would satisfy her.

Good question to ask though ;-)

Usually the ladies will need a contact method to communicate the last minute information such as the hotel name, room#, buzzer code...etc.

Some would give all the info ahead of time but some would prefer not to until you are at the meeting location. So the answer is it depends but you should discuss this with the lady you are interested in.

Cheers,

GM

The quick answer is that yeah you might get refused by some ladies but frankly I kinda think that for a respectful gentleman there is certainly enough ladies out there that you would find many that would be fine with the fact that you don't have a cell.

I note that your post is in the Halifax thread so assuming you are in that area I would suggest you could check out:

This is an interesting topic. I did refuse someone because they didn't have a cell phone. The reason was I was giving out my address and then asking said client to call/text when they arrive then I give them further information; most lied and never were in the parking lot.

I had a gentleman call me and flat out asked, "I don't own a cell phone is that a problem" I was ataken back because there wasn't a hello at all. I think I softly laughed under my breath because it was strange, it sounded like the said person was hiding something so I refused him. I've gotten calls where they are rude and say, "got a problem with that?" Yea, now I have a problem because you're now being rude about it.

The difference between not having a phone and having a phone is you can't be rude or disrespectful, when you are it puts a bad taste for the provider.

I've given my address over the phone to someone (landline/pay phone) and they arrived on time with no difficulty. I refuse to give it out over email/PM.

When contacting a provider don't just dive right into it, it may seem like the best thing but really it's not. You should always greet her, ask how she is, introduce yourself, and ask what her screening/booking policies are, mention you don't have a phone and ask her how she feels about it. Being open and honest in the first email will allow it to go smoother and faster.

Not sure what the other lovely ladies thoughts and opinions are for clients not having a phone.

I'd prefer if Gentlemen did have a cell phone that way I can kind of confirm who they are, making sure that they aren't under age and its not some kids trying to prank me. I like to hear the Gentlemen's voice also. That way I can determine whether or not I want to go ahead with booking him or not. Some guys text and when I asked them to call they always say its not a good time. Those are usually the ones who send long never ending text msg's with the intent of not booking.

First of all welcome.

The answer to your question - it depends. However, many ladies have optional ways for your to confirm your appointment if you do not have a cell phone. I still remember the days when no one had cell phones. However, there were ways we could confirm if the caller was legitimate. We still do.

Contact the lady through her means of contact. So if she gives an email address or PM, use that first. Let her know your situation. You might be surprised. However, I do recommend getting a "burner phone", if you plan on continuing to see ladies. It doesn't cost much, you can turn it off when you are not playing, and it gives an amount of credibility when you call around.

I personally am always delighted when a gentleman calls me from his unblocked residential phone. Its like a breath of fresh air.

You have some amazing ladies in Halifax right here on lyla. Start there, and let us know how you did.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their replies, especially Amanda-Lee and Ice4fun for their helpful information/advice. I am slightly more at ease about this now.

My concerned lied mostly with with GentMada was addressing. Things such as information about location being withheld until you were about to meet, and things you'd actually need a phone on you for. I guess it makes sense that it's going to depend on the person.

@roamingguy cost isn't much of the issue here. I don't own one by choice. The reason why isn't really important here. Not owning one however, does make life a bit difficult.

I second this!

I have to hear the person I am talking to. There are many good reasons for that. I don't accept clients who call from apps either. Too anonymous. Emails, same thing, I have no idea who they are, or if they are even in the same country as me.

No matter what, I must hear a voice before I will see someone and I need to see a legit number. Payphones also are unacceptable. Landlines, same thing. I will give the last minute information on arrival so without a cell, the process cannot be completed.

This is my screening process. This one I find to work for me. There are others who are comfortable with different methods. I make no apologies when I cannot accommodate someone without a cell (or who call under Private Caller, as seeing a number is another requirement).

So finding someone who is content to see you with your limitations is the best way to go.

Additional Comments:

I have to disagree with this.

PM and email allow people to remain anonymous. If you are not familiar with the alias' on a board, that doesn't make you an illegitimate companion.

And 'true professionals' have had time to hone their methods and learn the ins and outs. Everybody has to start somewhere.

Also efficiency doesn't trump safety. I couldn't imagine booking and seeing someone for the first time when I have only communicated with them through email or PM. I would still have to talk to them. I have learned my instincts are to be trusted. And I will not nix the phone call in order to be perceived as 'legitimate' just because there are many ways to communicate available. All that is fine if you are selling car parts, or organizing meetings with catering, but I am dealing with a very personal aspect of interpersonal relationships. One where I get to see what a lot of people don't. Not their mothers, co-workers, neighbours etc. So I think that my choice of communication should be respected, without my appearing to be illegitimate because of it.

Depends on the lady's booking protocol. If she specifies you must have one, she probably won't book you from a blocked number or pay phone or computer generated app.

I have a few clients who booked from their home numbers or work numbers (including extension) and upon first meeting then were required to call me from a pay phone close by my house so I knew they were serious.

In my experience most clients who tell me they don't have a cell phone either don't want me to see their number for "privacy reasons" which is fair if all they have is a company cell that keeps track of numbers for billing. But if they are not willing to provide a work or home number, I do not proceed with booking.

My reasoning is if you have my number and ultimately my location, the least you can do is provide me with a number I can verify. Any reputable lady will not use that information to cause the client grief. I believe it is the absolute minimum in screening one can reasonably expect.

There are some provided who book from blocked numbers or pay phones or even email without a number.

I suggest you don't try and circumvent a lady's booking protocol if she requires a cell phone as listed in her ad or website. To do so will surely get you shot down.

You missed a relevant part of my post Melanie.I couldn't agree more with the first part of your comments. What works on your side, is as good on my side. Hearing a voice tells already so much on the seriousness and the level of professionalism. This said, many of us could make that initial call from a work landline, from work for example. I don't think there is anything wrong with this.

In this world, not all emails are made equal. An email from a client who has been a member here for a certain amount of time, has posted many times and has already established obvious connections with providers, does not weigh the same as an email from a totally new member whose first (and sometimes sole) email has for only purpose to vouch for a new mysterious provider with not very few details and no pic on her profile. The nuances here are important.

Once that element of trust established, by whatever mean you deem fit, the dialogue cab be established in more comfortable setting for both parties. Your and my instincts and experience are key at this stage. On this, we are in agreement. However, I have to differ on the means required to build that trust. It can be established in many possible ways and their infinite combinations. The nature of the dialogue and its contents open a wide array of options, as long as the core trust is not broken.

I do not book anyone without a cell phone personally unless they can't use their cell phone and are from overseas. Way too many new clients have caused issues by no showing or were someone I wouldn't want to rebook. Having someone text upon arrival helps me feel like they will actually show up versus just emailing and say they should be there but don't confirm they have arrived citing they have no "data" and hope that's good enough.

An important reason an sp may want or need you to have a cel phone, on first meetings, is due to giving directions. sps who are not at a spa or public address type place are not giving out the complete address details on confirmation. Some will still get you to go to an intersection and call from there for the actual address, and then may still want you to phone from your car for the suite number and buzzer, that after you made the confirmation call. Hand in hand with this is the ability to update the sp if you get stuck in rush hour traffic, stuck due to an accident, cannot find the address or follow directions or similar events.

without a cel phone in hand, i would have had at least 6 people have to leave my building or outside of it to go find a pay phone to call me to tell me that they can't figure out how to get from their car to the front door to ring the buzzer, or i have had people go back to the front door to ring the buzzer to talk to me telling me that they cannot find their way to my floor. the intercom is just that, not a private conversation, the last thing i want is to be discussing floor numbers, apartment numbers and so on. the celphone eliminates that.

In spite of it not being very legit, i refuse to provide any info by pm, texts or emails. any replies to such contact methods will have me telling the person to phone me if they want the info. no phone call no appt booking anyway, might as well make the call.

If you phone me, regardless if it is from your home phone, you can make an appt with myself, and probably a number of other sps. It is only the first visit that you may have to make the call from home to confirm appt time, then go and find the closest payphone to verify to her that you are in the area, then get the basic address info, always have a pen, and always follow the directions given. any legit professional sp who works in the same location will know where the working payphones are. (joking, because many of the ones i used to know about are no longer where they used to be)

I have also had appts made by people with celphones were at the last minute their phone dies (or services are disrupted by the phone company). i've had people with working celphones wandering around the streets literally outside my building because they can't figure out when i say downhill i mean walk down hill not the opposite of down hill. without the celphone if you are someone who cannot follow basic directions, the sps are on a schedule, if you cannot call to say you are running late, if you cannot call to say you cannot follow the directions or find the address, any number of things will end up in frustration, and potential losses because the sp cannot reasonably expect to know when you are going to arrive.

in any case, it is only on the first appt, so figure out how to make it work, on 2nd or 3rd appts you can make one phone call and get all the info no problem
