I thought I had replied to the topic but must of just sent a pm. This lady went by Carrie yesterday and now today is Melanie. It’s a scam she will take your money and run. First clue and I should of caught on it’s on Pinecrest. I did lots of back and forth chatting so I thought I would take a leap of faith... Don’t fall for the same scam.

I too was taken in. I told her no-go for Pinecrest. (She's in building 87 when I was duped). Over the course of 3 days (3 days!!) we texted back and forth and she even got verified on Leolist as Carrie, she was warm and friendly, chatty. Her text responses were not terse, she carried on extensive conversations with me. Her rates and services were reasonable and eventually I broke my rule of seeing someone on Pinecrest. Live and learn.

She's super skinny, quick talking in person, long black hair tied back.

She did send me a face pic that I could share, I can verify the pic and the person are a match. Not sure what the rules on posting a pic of her face would be.

The old rule is now fully in effect. Nothing in the Pincrest, Albro Lake area, the one exception I can give is that nerdy sci-fi fan Catherine and her duo partner Rebecca (bbw) moved into an apartment on Pinecrest. I've been there and seen them and they are reliable and legit, I would not have gone there but I've seen Catherine before a few times in a hotel so was confident about her being legit.

I should mention too when I parked there was a dude outside the next building over, no biggie. When she grabbed my money and fled I left the building and he was coming in. Could be she has backup if you are thinking to get confrontational with her. I let her run with the money, wasn't likely to win a chase and wrestling a woman to the ground and taking money from her doesn't look good.

Yes that's her Jon. She managed to Scam me aswell, 87 Pinecrest. I seen another ad using same pictures with a different number. Reported both trough email, seems leolist only cares about advertising revenue.

I know you had a terrible experience in a certain area and I'm sorry to hear, but at the same time, I wouldn't paint everybody who lives in one area with the same brush. Do realize that this could have happened to you in the South end, Clayton park, literally anywhere, there are A holes all over, excuse my language lol .. it gets tiring defending a certain area all the time, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, I feel safer where I live now in North Dartmouth, than I did in Clayton park honestly. In this hobby, no matter where you go you just have to be really careful and it also helps to make sure the lady you see (wherever the incall) has positive recommendations.

Hi Melanie,

Just responding to your comment, I hope it doesn't come across as confrontational, it's not meant as such, it's meant to advance the discussion and explain my thinking.

It's not geography, race, color, gender, age or otherwise that characterizes these scammers, BUT they will almost always share the trait that they need more money than they have, either to pay rent, feed their family or get their fix. They've opted to go with scamming people likely from desperation and the need for quick cash, they opted not to work a 9-5 job or an escort job for reasons I can't predict.

While scams could happen in the South End or Clayton park, etc. I've personally only experienced them in that area of town. I think it's well understood that the cheapest rents, with little or no credit checks are in that area, that's what draws people to those buildings both the good and the bad. The scammers will always favor areas with cheap rents and you will be less likely to experience them in up-market areas simply because those who are so desperate can't afford to live in those areas.

To your point about defending the area, I can understand if you live in that area you are not wanting to be painted with the brush I just used, but I think until the area becomes more gentrified you're going to run into it over and over. From my perspective, if I continue to visit providers in that area, and I'm scammed again and again and again, when is it ok to stereotype the area? I've had 3 problems in that area over the years vs about 3 successful 1st encounters. Why risk 50/50 odds vs 100% success in other areas? (Success defined as NOT robbed, have had so-so encounters, but not of the robbery variety). As a client we are often working with a few pictures, what the SP texts us and an address, I'm not prepared to toss out the address as a piece of the puzzle. Now someone is about to tell me to ONLY see providers with recommendations, BUT if everyone followed that rule to the letter, no new providers could ever enter the business because no one would take a chance on them. I tend to stick to providers I have built a relationship with, but when they are all busy or not working I eventually have to try someone new, TOFTT as it were. 🙂

Unfortunately just in the news this morning at the exact block where "Carrie" is working her scam. I hope she was involved and has been arrested.

P.S. You are an established provider, with a reputation and active here on Lyla. I've never visited you but you'd clearly be an exception to my rule regarding that area. I'd have no worries seeing you.

I feel like we're privelaged in Canada to call places like North Dartmouth a "bad area".. There are tons of people in North end Dartmouth who work good jobs and lots of buildings who only allow working people. Some people will only see the bad in it , or what they see in the news.. but I see people around in the military, nurses, and a lot of tradesmen. Theres elderly people, students, foreigners, families and a lot of people dealing with mental health. I love the diversity of the community I live in personally, there's a sense of community here that I didnt get in other areas I've lived in. It also happens to be very convenient for those who work in Burnside, Halifax, Bayers lake, etc so that's another reason why one would want to live there (besides reasonable rent).

I moved here from Clayton Park because it was more convenient for me for work and I dont like driving in Halifax, so theres all kinds of reasons that people live here besides being on income assistance. I originally wanted to move to Eastern Passage, but then people would be saying it's too far so you can't win really.

I honestly don't pay attention much to the news because I know that these things can happen everywhere. I read that article on Twitter, but I still never had an issue or felt unsafe walking from my car after work @ 2am, I have had experiences of people try to follow me home in Eastern Passage and Clayton Park though.. The majority of crimes I find, either people are known to each other, it has to do with drugs or somebody is doing something that they shouldn't be doing. As long as you don't bother anyone or get into anything, people will typically pay no attention to you and leave you be.

I'm by no means TELLING you to only see ladies with recommendations, you can do what you like, I'm just saying If you said its "50/50 odds", and you had a couple unsuccessful encounters in North Dartmouth that made you feel this way, maybe if you see a provider who is established or you've heard good things about, the success rate would be higher.

I hope you don't see this as rude, I'm just trying to show you a different perspective because I love where I live and usually the people who say bad things have never lived there and are basing it off what they see in news or basing it off a problem they had with 1 out of thousands of people.

Wish you all the best & stay safe,

Melanie

You know I am big fan of yours Melanie, but you are the exception to my own rules.  I have a a few bad experiences in my time doing this and I have found they are concentrated 3 areas, the Bedford Hwy motels, Spryfield and North Dartmouth/Highfield Park.

Those are my almost 100% no go areas now.  But I do have exceptions, think an established provider like yourself.  Having said that, I would be slightly uncomfortable being in any of those areas at night as they do seem to have a penchant for crime at the worst or undo drama in the least.

Anyways just my 2 cents.  No ill intent intended.

All good points, here. To offer another perspective on painting people in certain areas with the same brush, consider that society at large does this to our community/industry as a whole! The motto is the same; don’t always judge a book by its cover. The only real downside (regardless of area) for those who are victims of robberies by unsavoury providers, is that reporting to police entails outing one’s self. It’s a bit of a catch 22...

I'd say there's no area of town I haven't had hit-or-miss encounters but that's not like what I really am worried about, Carrie was a outright robbery and possible beating situation. Other than Pinecrest/Jackson/Albro Lake kinda area I've never had anything where I felt in danger or outright lost my money.

In Spryfield I've encountered an underage provider (left and posted here). I've had a provider I know well fall into hard drug use and I first witnessed that in a Bedford hotel.

While I have never lost anything but time, the two times that scammers have attempted to rob me have been in the north end of Dartmouth. (Albro lake, and Hghfield). While it has not put me off visiting SP's in the area, I generally won't visit one without a recommendation on these forums.

In my opinion is to go with a recognized SP from this site and have them come to your place or hotel. Then you feel comfortable in your space..otherwise very reputable providers like MSManda. Kylie Jane..etc uber safe  JMO

Meeting at a hotel is my favorite, but the LAST thing I want is to invite a potential thief over to my house to case the place or steal stuff. I need to know a provider well before they get an invite over.

Agreed meeting at my hotel is my fav  I would not invite anyone over to my place. Just for privacy reasons alone. And their hotel is off limits as well. Don't know what your walking into.. My opinion..unless I know them and would do in call then or seen a lot of good reviews on Lula and or a referral from a well known member..JMO
