Well this makes me question is coming out that way in a week or two is a good idea still. I fear this could effect the inquiries for out of town ladies like myself...

I'd suggest Lyla members will come see you, that shouldn't be a problem since you're known to us. The rest of the general public probably isn't aware of the potential for stings so not sure they'd be effected or not.

Regardless I probably won't experiment with providers who aren't long time advertisers or known to be legit (like yourself Kitten) for a while until we hear some more intel.

I think though if the Halifax police have a trafficking grant they should go after traffickers not johns. Chase some of those 18/19yo ads because I am sure a percentage of them are underage. Chase some of those ads for new girls that look scared or unhappy in her pics they might have a pimp taking that photo. Chase some of those ads for girls with cuts, bruises or are so skinny they must be doing drugs, chances are there's a pimp in the picture. Not sure how they rescue those women in a forced to work situation but that's what they need to fix. Chasing johns is like swatting flies, there's always going to be more.

Tip:

I used Chrome to save the first 3-4 pages of leolist ads. Just the listing, not the whole ad but at least if I see anyone tempting in the next couple months I can verify if they were advertising for a while not just brand new.

I'll likely repeat saving the first couple pages from leolist once more next week.

P.S. This isn't an offer to use my saved leolist pages, go save your own. 🙂

Unfortunately it's the only tool they have. There is very little they can do to help a girl who is refusing to cooperate which is almost always the case. She isn't breaking any laws so they can't arrest or even detain her. There is seldom any evidence that the pimp is either. He likely isn't even there.

Arresting and publicly shaming Johns in hopes of creating a deterrence and curbing the demand is the sole intention of the "Norse model" that our current laws are based on. There is little question that this is where they will focus their efforts.

I guess that going for the pimps is like going up against organized crime. Probably dangerous and would require a much larger budget. Just the word "grant" makes it sound like they dont have enough in their normal budgets to address the problem. The quick cheap fix is to make some headlines in the local news media.

I think going after the traffickers is a good thing. The problem lies in the conflation of sex trafficking and consensual sex work. That said, I’ve read that Halifax is getting a new Chief Of Police who hails from Hamilton. Since Ontario has adopted a similar mindset to Vancouver when it comes to non enforcement of C-36, perhaps his influence on the current climate may be a good thing. Discuss...

As a foreigner the whole thing seems so odd to me.  I will never understand why the US and Canada have such a war on sex work. New Zealand and Australia have a system that works amazingly, so there is no reason for countries not to follow suit except they like to be seen portraying a moral high ground. It amazes that people still think you need to combat the lot to stop trafficking.
Where I come from it's not illegal for escorts or our customers. What is illegal is not using protection, to work when not in possession of a current health certificate. It is illegal to pimp girls - if working independently no one is aloud to sell sex but you, or you can work as an independent in a brothel. Men are required to pay, if you try and reverse a payment, or stuff an envelope with paper instead of cash you can bet your bottom dollar your going to jail, it's considered rape by fraud and deceit.  You will also land yourself in jail if a girl says you can't do something and you force the sexual act after she said no.
Both countries have a prostitution task force, that actually manages to save people needing help because they are not wasting time "looking" like they are combatting the problem. The biggest issue they have for trafficking is usually the asian market, of people bringing in asians and holding their passports and keeping them hostage until they pay off an outrageous debt. They have actually shut down operations like this because they are not wasting time with stings. Their job is to focus on cases like that and saving those that need to be saved, and to be their for the odd time a gentlemen does wrong and needs to be arrested.

The North American mind has been literally subverted by mass-media culture to accept violence and to reject eroticism as valid forms of entertainment. On certain topics it's made us predictably ignorant and peculiar. Behind the Canadian political pageantry there is a huge and undisclosed moral agenda. Technically a secularist democracy but clearly only barely grasping how to not legislate values for other people.

Like that we need grants to target trafficking, but that may also involve harassing nice (but legally -- clearly immoral) people.

I think about moving to NZ often.

The nonsensical laws that were introduced as C-36 harken back to the Victorian era, when sex was considered “dirty” and women had to be “saved” from their urges. While it sounds far fetched, the notion is still alive and well today. Conservative political ideology seeks not only to control women through punitive laws, but also to actively punish them for making autonomous choices which those in power do not agree with. Pierre Trudeau said it best when he stated that the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation. However, it seems the pendulum has now swung the other way. Conservatives in particular rely on misinformation and deliberate conflation of sex work with human trafficking in order to mislead the general public. In effect, common sense has been thrown out the window in favour of crafting laws which adhere to a subjective moral standard. I would argue that such laws are inherently flawed since the distinction is arbitrary, thus achieving no objective except that of perpetuating a social construct which seeks to deny women agency and self actualization where their bodies are concerned. A rather sad commentary on the state of affairs these days, especially when one considers that the only way to induce meaningful change is through lengthy and onerous court proceedings endemic to our justice system.

Yes, in particular the Conservative double-speak presents freedom in theory but then mostly delivers uninvited moralizing in practice. Not my cup of tea anymore, but I grew up in a blue province so I understand the simple logic involved. It's also interesting that our Liberals made it more of a priority to promote drugs to the Canadian citizen through legal access to a narcotic well ahead of granting them what amounts to basic sexual freedom.

So, inquiring minds would like to know.. did any Johns NOT visiting under aged girls get targeted?  I have a few potential clients all nervous over here.  I tried to reassure them that nobody targets the mature providers, but fears are fears.

To my knowledge they don't target the providers at all unfortunately. Can anyone confirm if that's correct? ...... I say unfortunately as the underage providers and the one's being forced to work are the people I think need the most help.

Not sure but I read this pretty great book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_You've_Been_Publicly_Shamed

So there was a town in Oregon where a Yoga teacher was sleeping with lots of dudes and like filming it or something, I forget the details, it wasn't blackmail I'm pretty sure but maybe, Anyway all the dudes in town were getting embarrassed by their "immoral behavior" mainly because the scam included a bunch of married dudes and one priest. Anyway everyone basically moved on with their lives except the priest whose reputation was destroyed. That was only one case study and even then the guy didn't really have it all that bad IMHO. It's kinda random what culture picks up on but in the long run you would definitely be far worse off tweeting something racist, plagiarizing in your professional work, or making an insensitive joke at the wrong time.

From everything I’ve read about John stings they mostly set it up where they pretend to be a provider that is underage . They make sure to get the point across that they are 13,14,15, whatever, and when the John shows up, the arrest is made.  I have no problem with them arresting these types of Johns.

Im not concerned about seeing any other providers, provided they are legal age.

Again, this has been the case in the past, but as I understand it, that is about to change due to some new funding being allocated to NS to address the problem of HT. (Which was the op's point, and one that I have also heard elsewhere). Stings are the only tool they have. They do intend to start using it from what I understand.

That said, if you do your homework, it's often easy to tell who is real and legitimately independent. You just need to use your head.

Be careful gents.

Yes, and to be perfectly clear my last post was responding to Raquel Brooks's: "I tried to reassure them that nobody targets the mature providers, but fears are fears" which I should have quoted and NOT the underage stuff then reiterated by Rambler1980. Apparently there is a moderator delay here and the other comment was submitted before mine which I didn't see. In the example I provided it was clear that the Yoga teacher was well past legal age and the comparisons I make are only relevant to that circumstance.
