Recommended Posts

Guest gagagaga

So, went to one of my old fave's yesterday; Club Taboo in gatineau. They have started serving food from 5-7 on thurs, fri, sat. How's this for a deal..

no cover charge

free buffet (simple but good food like stew, pasta, etc)

2 for 1 drinks from 5-7

naked chicks

Basically, for $6 you get food, 2 drinks and naked chicks!!! This is awesome and actually better than home!!! lol

See you there

LOL, I'm glad you had fun but this is why I would never dance at Taboo or any club that operates like this.

Remember that the ladies actually pay to work there (when you think about it, they're actually paying for your food, cover, etc.), and if the guys there have the "It's only $6 for food, drink and naked chicks" attitude, then the ladies will left in the hole (unfair to them) and probably not return.

I totally agree with Megan on this. I haven't been to a club in nearly 10 years but I do remember that cheap cover and food wasn't one of my criteria for visiting a club. I had regular dancers I liked to spend time with and "food" wasn't what I really wanted to eat when I was there....lol

In joe's defense, he has posted often talking about the girls he has spent time with in the CR. My take is that he posted that info to help the girls as the intent of these deals is to get guys in the place. Once they are in watching the lovelies the little head takes over and the girls make money .... more money than if the guys never came in for the "cheap" teaser. Just another way to separate our cash from our wallet, albeit for a great cause!! LOL

Slurp - I'm not being critical of any individuals, but rather the marketing techniques that attract the wrong crowd.

Understood, but I question your thinking that this draws the "wrong crowd". I have often stopped in at SC like Pigale, BareFax, NuDen, Playmate, Taboo, etc that offer free lunch buffets (not sure if they all do anymore as I haven't been in years).

It was rare that I would go in and have my free lunch (with drink purchase) and NOT take at least one lovely for a dance or 2 or 3 or 4 ..... Yes, we made a point of going on buffet days but not only because it was a cheap lunch. Those days the selection of girls was better and it was more likely that I would see someone I wanted to spend some time (and cash!) with.

Almost all SC offer these types of deals, some every day, others selected days. Maybe some guys go just for cheap eats and ogle the girls but the crowd I hung with also spent a LOT of money after eating cheap. I also noticed the girls would be in high demand and sometimes the girl I wanted was so busy I never saw her. So I wasn't the only one spending money on dances.

More guys, more dances, more money .... where's the drawback?

I'm curious to know what "marketing techniques" you would find superior. Pigale's and Barefax have been in operation for many years and without compare are the highest grossing clubs in the city. I find that what some dancers often forget is that these clubs are not built to make money for dancers, they are built to make money for bar owners.

When one owns a club, the goal is to attract as many customers as possible; put butts in chairs. Once the chairs are full it is up to the dancers to then market themselves in order to make money.

Some clubs, usually busy clubs, charge girls to work there. Why?? Because they fill the chairs with clients for the dancers to market themselves to. Other, less successful clubs have to pay girls to work there. This is called free market economy.

I enjoy going to Taboo; a place where I spend a ton of cash on the girls, and now I can get a good price on beer and a decent meal too. Maybe these new "draws" will bring me to the club one more time per month.

By posting on CERB, I am hoping that tons of my e-buddies (pervs) from here will go there, enjoy the great service, good prices, and spend a ton on some great girls.

My personal opinion is that the best way to attract gentlemen is to attract dancers. Working in clubs, I've noticed that the more dancers there are, the more gentlemen come in. I know this isn't the other way around because when clubs require ladies to work slower shifts, it works and the gentlemen eventually start coming in. How do we attract ladies? Superior working conditions would sum it up.

I also agree with you that clubs are interested in making money for themselves (we all all ultimately selfishly motivated) but clubs don't make money without dancers. They collect house fees, so we are also a source of income for them. In fact, I think they probably make more off each dancer than off each customer. And we attract in the gentlemen, creating another source of income for them.

Just my opinion from working in the clubs.

I have to agree with those who say this is a good marketing strategy. Marketing costs money, and you have to spend money to make money. Just having the prettiest girls isn't really a marketing strategy, as that kind of reputation only helps out the most established clubs in town; and their reputation is more like mythology than actual ratings. For the lesser-known clubs, they have to try alternative strategies to attract customers. That in turn will attract the better looking girls, which will enhance the reputation.

I would respectfully disagree. Although it is true that the clubs cannot make money without dancers, you have to look at the market to see where the stability lies. There are a very limited number of clubs yet and absolutely endless supply of dancers. I worked in clubs for many many years and always found it somewhat humorous when a dancer would threaten to quit and go somewhere else. Go...I can replace her with 10 others by noon tomorrow. Sure, you may lose a quality dancer and possibly even one or 2 customers (although I have found the customer usually stay loyal to the club they like the most and just make side trips to visit a favorite lady), but overall, the loss is minimal. The dancers come and go, the club remains.

As for "a source of income"; seriously??? Even if a club charged $50/girl (which most don't...most charge around $20), that wouldn't make up for even 5% of the liquor sales.

Thank you for your comments, joeblow. This has turned into an interesting discussion.

I'm going to take the club I danced at for the longest - The Nu Den, as an example. I mostly danced daytime but did some night shifts. During the day, there were about 20 ladies, so income for the club would be $400. We would also maybe have 20-30 gentlemen come in during the day shift. Most bought 1-2 beers, and maybe 3 or 4 bought lunch. So on the day shift, I would have to say that the $400 they made in house fees would be a significant source of income, similar to the gentlemen in the club.

Nighttime was a different story and I will agree with you here that alcohol is a huge factor. There were maybe 40 dancers or so nighttime (not always at the same time) so their housefees would be $800. I have no idea what the alcohol income would be, but I'm sure it would be huge.

To summarize, yes I would consider $1200/day to be a source of income, even for a strip club. I appreciate your comments and insight too!

I agree with Megan. If I go to an SC (where I used to go for years before switching to escorts) I go there for dancers. My criteria for choosing an SC would be how many dancers there are, how pretty they are and how open minded they are in the CR and how well dancers and customers are treated by the management at that bar.. If I want to go somewhere for food, I would go to a restaurent lol.

I do agree that offering free buffet would bring more customers and business to the bar but likely not more business to the dancers who are there to make money for themselves and not for the bar and rightly so. I remember the Wednesday free buffets at Playmates years ago. The place was packed during the hour that food was being served but everyone sitting there for the hour and eating and watching the stage lol. Always exceptions to that though as slurp said there are always few who also spend on dancers after they eat but I see it as an exception rather than a rule based on my observations.

i never eat in these clubs , i am just not comfortable doing it . i see these ladies walking around a dirty floor , all the customers tracking in whatever they stepped in into the club , some ladies wear their dancing shoes outside when they go for a quick smoke . than they get on stage and dance with those same shoes and putting all that dust and into the air high above everyones food , well guess where it is landing . my own paranoia , sure there is some of that involved , but none the less , like i said , i just dont feel comfortable eating in these clubs .

They still do this, I sometimes go. Many dancers have told me Wednesday is the busiest day at the PM and therefore they like to go in for work that day. In a way I thing both Megan and Joe Blow are right (just looking at 2 sides of the same coin maybe?).

Additional Comments:

Well the name is in fact " -silo", that's close enough

I tend to agree with Megan. Buffets are like trawler nets, that bring in lots of fish, a small percentage of which are the high rollers that will spend a lot on ladies. The owner gets the illusion of a full club for the cost of free meals, which is a short term motivator for the ladies until they catch on that they're not making much more money than a slow lunch. I think the money would be better spent on some type of loyalty system that would benefit the ladies and the club (like a capital investment in an intimate vip area accessible during the day for repeat customers or subsidizing the ladies to do reduced price dances), but that's just me...
