Is this a general statement or one referring to only that provider? If it’s a general statement it’s an ill informed one. As there are other respected  and reviewed providers who do ask for 40-50% deposits . Some who advertise here and who tour to Halifax. With so many new members it’s important to post accurate information.

I'm fairly new to this hobby in NS and as a rule I don't reach out to SPs asking for deposits and that's regardless of the posted opinions (even if they are positive). Burned twice, triple shy.

Experience is the best teacher... and always take what's on these forums with a grain of salt.

I was referring to this provider specifically as they only asked about this provider. 

A provider on LL with no social or website, no tryst, etc. And no reviews asking for 50% deposit is a guaranteed scam. Honestly if you can't verify the provider at all and they want any deposit it's a pretty big red flag. 

Established providers asking for deposits is normal but they are exactly that, established. They will have reviews/recommendations, maybe a website, social (Twitter and/or Bluesky), tryst, etc.
