You’re more likely to encounter a bait and switch than a cop.

As long as you properly vet the Providers you’ll be ok.  From my understanding The Police are more interested in busting Human Trafficking rings

Can anyone encountered or heard of their dates being a cop?

I've had a "date" that had a cop outfit does that count?

Law enforcement targets the following:

- Underage providers

- Potential human trafficking

- Car calls or outside sex workers

Beyond that, they know who is who. Remember, it is legal to sell sexual services, however it is illegal to purchase sexual services.

So, unless you are asking the potential provider for services x, y, z, spelling out specific sexual services, you are not breaking the law.

Stay away from obviously underage providers, providers who have a handler, and for gawd sake, stop asking for specific sexual services. Check out recommendations, see if they have a website, and their ad is discreet. Providers advertising detailed sexual services can be a red flag.

Good luck!

While true for the most part, I did hear that Winnipeg around the time of the Grey Cup(Nov 2025) for whatever reason decided to have a sting going after people

Yes, these were street level and possible human trafficking cases. Events such as the Grey Cup etc, typically bring in big traffickers.

" A joint enforcement operation by the Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba RCMP resulted in 32 arrests targeting street-level and online commercial sex buyers ahead of major November 2025 events. The targeted sweep aimed to curb human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Operation Details Dates: November 12 to 15, 2025

Arrests: 32 men aged 18 to 75 were arrested for obtaining sexual services or communicating for that purpose.Vehicle Seizures: 15 vehicles were impounded under provincial Highway Traffic Act regulations regarding prostitution-related offenses."
