I just started using Twitter recently and I was surprised to find out that some escorts are already using it to promote themselves and that some even have gained thousands of followers. There was an article I recently read, I think it was on digg.com. It talked about concerns over Minors having access to it and being able to follow other people who post adult photos.

I agree, that's the kind of usage I envisaged.

 

As for the issue with minors, I don't see the problem unless you want to argue that the entire internet suffers from the same drawbacks. If you monitor your child or set up his/her browser so that adult things can't be viewed then it should be a problem. You can't tweet a picture but only a link so that link should be blocked if the right filters are put in place by the parents shouldn't it?

Filters are only as good as the entries they contain. They don't make effective blockers for most sites i.e. works for Playboy or Hustler and fail miserably for the local agency.

 

In not so much as parental monitoring as much as opening yourself up for potential legal action. Unless twitter provides a disclaimer stating possible adult content you might be on tenuous grounds.

I use my twitter for little updates, musings, blurbs. I mention when I leave for appointments, when I get back (most of the time). I post blog updates, replies to others, etc. I don't offer specials there, because most of my clients don't follow. I save that for my ads.

I could see Twitter being a good way for providers to keep in touch with their regulars. It could be especially useful for letting them know when you are working, where you are working etc... It's a good way to retain customers in general.
