Photographers In Halifax

Recommended Posts

I am in need of some professional photos and really don't know where to look. Is anyone aware of a good, well priced, and discreet professional Photographer in HRM? I would not be opposed to trading professional services or using watermarks on photos, but also willing to hire and pay for one.

Although not familiar with the hiring of photographers, I think you would be looking for photographers that do boudoir photos. Probably check the internet for photographers in Halifax that do boudoir photos, that would be a good start.

And this is just my opinion, don't offer to trade professional services. You are looking for a professional photographer, not some guy with a camera looking for a few hours with a lady in exchange for snapping a few pictures

Just my opinion that's all

I'd agree with RG ... better to keep professional services separate and apart. Pay for the photos, and if he wants to hire you, he can do so after the fact.

Too many complications otherwise.

Personally, I would not even see him as a client after the fact. It's better to keep everything seperate than to mix up the client/photographer/SP professional relationship.

While I'm not a pro, I've got several years experience doing shoots for friends that vary from fetish to portrait to nudes. I don't visit Hali often, but I'd be willing to do a shoot for you the next time I'm up. I did a few for Penelope Davis when I had the pleasure of meeting her.

As far as payment goes, I'd consider your feedback payment enough. I've been wondering if there was enough interest and business in NS for me to consider turning pro and catering to the ladies on here when they need new shots. I have someone that can touch up shots that need polishing, but that would be something extra since I do need to pay them for their time (Photoshop is one of the grand mysteries of the Universe to me).

Alternatively, if you're ever visiting Cape Breton, just shoot me a message and I can be at your disposal to update your portfolio any time. Like I said, I'm interested in finding out how much interest there is and whether it's a viable business to go into right now, so a little time spent at the end of the shoot to review the photos and discuss the results is a golden opportunity to me.

As it has been said do not swap services for photography. Halifax boudoir photographers as slim and I suggest if you can look in another city and travel there. As well some are not ok with shooting an escort, so be upfront with what you need the photos for.

Halifax does have some talented photographers for this style of photo shoots. Unfortunately Halifax is still quite conservative which will make it harder to find them.

Pertaining to the trade of service thought, i know how you feel about it for sure, i love trade over cash any day.

However I think keeping trade out of this would be a smart idea like previously mentioned. Personally i find the really nice shots of non nude women to be more beautiful and alluring then the nude ones. Just the mental part being i prefer to be able to discover some aspects of how beautiful a woman really is like the physical and her personality in person. Which makes it just another boudoir shoot.

I just fear the offer of swapping would bring out more of the bad photographers hiding the good offers to help. Along with the fact with swapping service there is no record of it happening and for what purpose. Letting the photographer do what ever they want with the photo's with no recourse. There is still a lot of the old school thinking that as the photographer they own the photo's. Where you paid for their service you should by rights own your photo's.

I would suggest getting a reputable photographer. Do some research, ask lot's of questions about what they offer. For added ease of mind, make sure you are provided all the images, have ownership of them and they are not watermarked. That way they are your property to do what you want. Without the watermark you don't run the risk of having them traced back to the photographer and getting them involved in "guilty by association" like society loves to do.

Just my thoughts, hope it gives you some things to think about.

Halifax I agree to find a reputable photographer but there are a few points here I would suggest might not be accurate.

Asking for all photos is wrong. Any photographer makes a couple of shots for each pose, some just testing lighting during shoots, sometimes, the person blinks etc... (check out beyonce superbowl shots her agent wants yanked) Many reasons why a photographer would NOT give all the photos. I'd suggest if he/she agrees to this that it shows their lack of experience actually They should only want the best out there representing their work. Besides, they would still have all the copies (its a digital age) so there would not be "piece of mind" like the old days when you could ask for all the negatives. (If you don't trust the photographer not to share the photos, find one you do.)

As for the watermark. Having one on or not DOES NOT have anything to do with who'se property the photos belong to. It' has some uses (advertising, limiting printing so you have to go through them to get prints ($$) and such). Unless a contract is written stating otherwise, they remain the copyright of the photographer. Should you opt to have them submitted to some magazine or contest you would be in some legal problems. They would probably tell you it's ok to print them etc... but they ultimately still own the rights to those photos. (You can ask for full rights, but they would then typically charge more for that level of rights. More so with the professional photographers, less likely with those starting out.)

As for them not wanting to be associated, I would agree and I'd guess most photographers would not watermark them anyway for that reason.

Wondering how much this has changed within the last decade 🤔

I am in desperate need of a REPUTABLE TRUSTWORTHY photographer — I had a boudoir shoot booked but covid restrictions in place November past has caused it to be delayed

I just finished a session with Ashley at Applehead Studios. She was fantastic and a lot of fun! Even if I sucked, she help make me feel like a pro model and a million bucks! Photos were in just a little over a week. I did the 90 min package, minus prints, and they gave me all the good photos. I still went through and did the cropping for my no face photos.
She was happy to add my watermark to the photos too. I am not photoshop savvy so I have no idea how to do batch watermarking.

I will be trying one more out at the end of May and will report back.

Had an amazing photoshoot with a gorgeous photographer from PEI. Had been following her for the last year and a half and adored her work.
My missed appointment finally happened for me as she had a pop up event in Halifax recently.

I referred another working girl I had been acquainted with & received an amazing deal on a pop up package. She is pretty pricey, but amazing work - definitely get what u pay for with her. Her pics speak on their own.
I will definitely be repeating. Hopefully in the spring at her home studio on the island.

wanting to work with someone locally also - preferably female but most importantly someone SAFE & professional 💭  still open for more suggestions

Your pictures are gorgeous! Thanks for telling me about her, she is a real gem! I love how she stresses that she will only share pics on social media with our permission. Super professional and trustworthy. I've found it really hard to find a local photographer that I feel like I can trust tbh... I emailed a few photographers, but once I said what the photos were for they stopped replying lol 👎🤪 yikes

I ended up going to her studio when I went to PEI. She said she was working on making one of those living walls.. I thought of you because I know you love your plants. That would make some 🔥 pics.

That sounds like heaven to me 😉

You know me so well 🌱

I was considering seeing her in the Spring when I go over! Can’t wait to see how your new ones turned out — if they’re anything at all like the first shoot they will be absolutely stunning!

let me know how u progress with local photographers

I actually heard from a photographer locally who contacted me based off of this post so we will see how it goes 🤞🏼
