I think recommendations certainly have their place and frankly mean different things on different boards and also from who provides them. So here is my little take.

As a reader:

- I certainly looked at them more in general when I first started. I think I had my own personal doubts and wasn't really sure what I wanted or what to expect.

- I still use them and in particular if visiting a 'new' city and searching for a new lady to meet.

- I've learned that different boards have different styles/cultures of their recommendations so this influences how I read them.

- I likely put more stock in my own interactions with a lady or her posts, ads or website than someone else's recommendation. But that has come with experience.

As a writer:

- I really like writing them when I've had a good experience and feel proud to play a small part if it helps a lady in her business.

- I generally see the same ladies (regular) so might not always write one after each encounter but I do think about it and we'll often discuss it. Again if I know it can support her than I want to do that.

- The process of writing is creative and sensual as it gives me the opportunity to relive our experience. I always share my recommendations with the lady first before posting in public.

I still don't understand why guys say things like .......

"I don't put a huge amount of stock into reco's"

"I don't bother reading them, I will do my own homework"

"I don't use or rely on reco's on this board if I want to see a lady"

Now this is not a pissing contest gents, I took some of these comments and simply I am shedding light on this very subject from my point of view.

My understanding is that......

We are members on a "RECOMMENDATION BOARD" where the entire process, purpose of the board is to "RECOMMEND" providers to others so they may look them up, chat to them, get a personal feel for the lady.

I keep reading comments like above and then wonder, why are we here then for? Play some the game threads? To join social groups?

YES YES I understand that in a recommendation written about a lady it is about......

"CHEMISTRY"

"YMMV"

"PERSONAL TASTE"

But seriously when I see a comment like "I don't read the rec's" then why bother being here?

Maybe I'm naive, or have put countless rec's within this board and get a little pissed off when I see this type of comment, THEN

I get guys asking about lady a) AND lady b) that I have written a rec about.

Seriously?

SOME DAYS I ASK MYSELF WTF? why did he pm myself asking about two ladys the rec's are right there.

THIS is where we are to recommend that you had a great time with A lady OR TWO :), so share your thoughts with others, it is good for her, good for her business, it is flattering to her, could be flattering to YOU as well when she might use your recommendation on her web site!!!

When I see this being said, it is one of the reasons why I wonder some are here on the board, other than seeking ladies through advertising and having that opportunity to chat through pm's.

Let's say, not ONE LADY IS recommended anymore, AND ALL OF those threads were REMOVED, just how much more searching would some gentleman have to do to find out about a lady?

For myself, ya you're dam right I read recommendations, because it interests me, that is why I am here, AREN'T YOU HERE FOR THE SAME THING?

I use to write graphic novels in a rec, guess over time and my age, I have refrained from that and write a quick note, in a way thanking the ladies for their time, for those that don't, perhaps it is time you do?

Here is a small list of recommendations I had started back from 2008 to 2013....2013 starting at the top. This does not include the rec's I particpated in or added to the lady's existing recommendation.

I guess you can see why I would be pissed when I hear "I don't read them" AND YES THAT IS YOUR CHOICE

I have yet to vote on this poll yet as I wanted to get this off my chest, as I'm here to enjoy the fine companions of Cerb and those that may tour into our city.

I'm all for recommendations. I'm not so much about assumptions. She has no recommendations or has little recommendations or has a gap in her recommendations, there for she must be a bad escort. I understand that some girls are undeserving of recommendations for example bait and switch, bad service, ect, ect.(hopefully these girls turn up on the cowboy's diary) However, I'm always sad to hear that a good provider got passed up because she had little or no recommendations. So if you had a good time and your willing and able to write a recommendation, this can greatly help someone.

I came from humble beginnings and someone "took one for the team" wrote a recommendation and introduced me to this community. I'm very thankful for this because my recommendations and this community has helped me very much. Still to this day I get excited to read a recommendation.

There may be may reasons for why a gentlemen may not want to write a recommendation. He lurks on here to find girls but doesn't take part in cerb, he takes part in cerb but doesn't post publicly, ect, ect. I'm fine with this because a lot of my clients are like this. However, I can understand the confusion of some of the active members; about some wanting to use recommendation boards but not wanting to give back.

If I was a gentleman taking part in cerb I would be like Pistol Pete and recommend every girl I had a good time with. I would also be one of those gentlemen who takes a chance on girls with little or no recommendations and I would for sure recommend them to help and expand their reputation.

I also see the value of reading posts/threads. I am able to put out my personality and interact with people more effectively than just advertising. I can see why some gentlemen enjoy looking at posts to see a woman's personality and maybe that is more appealing for some rather than recommendations. I have also gained clients by posting and interacting with people. I can see posting in combination with recommendations would be a valuable research tool for gentlemen trying to find a lady.

Easy there Pistol. Don't blow a gasket. Just because I say I don't put much stock in them doesn't mean I don't like them and am not glad they're there. I always write recos for ladies whom I enjoy and I always read recos before I see a new lady. I also understand that YMMV on any encounter so you can't take recos as gospel. One dude's awesome is another dude's 'meh'. I've had a few encounters with reasonably well reviewed ladies that were totally not my cup of tea. Does that mean the system is broken? No, just that YMMV and that chemistry is not always there.

As I said, I consider it a red flag if there are NO recos for a lady who has been around for a while but other than that, the majority of my decision will be shaped by my interactions with her. To be honest, the quality of her website and of her posts on this board will also play into it as well. I find some websites off-putting. Fussy, pretentious, snooty, or just not containing any useful information. It's all part of the package of information I use to shape my decision.

I imagine many ladies do the same. If some dude is making stupid posts or getting into arguments on the board, it will color her decision of whether to see him or not.

I personally love to read the recommendations. I have in the past booked with ladies with no reco's, but for the most part I prefer to see a couple of posts about them first. Part of it is perhaps laziness, as it can answer a lot of questions about the type of experience the lady offers without having to bother her with pm's and emails that may not lead anywhere. I understand that each experience may be different and YMMV, so I'm not necessarily looking to specific details, but for the overall feel and impression of an encounter. You can tell a lot from what is said, and often even more from what is not said. The reco's also show me that this is person is who she says she is, the pics are real, and that someone at least has had a very good time.

I love the fact that this is a recommendation site and not a review site as it forces people to focus on the positive. I've never given a lot of weight to negative reviews as often the reviewer is being petty or has an ax to grind. It's often easier for people to focus on the bad stuff, which to me means that when someone says something good, they normally mean it.

I think we can all agree on one thing. This site is only as good as the contributions from the members so all you lurkers out there, get to your keyboard and write some recos. It doesn't have to be an essay. Even just a simple "I really had a great time with her" is a vote of confidence and probably makes a lady feel pretty good about the encounter.

When I first started out Recommendations were very important to me. There was a core set of posters whom I followed closely, typically someone they seen was someone I know I would have a connection with.

Since then I was more willing to venture out, Cerb chat playing an important part of how I got to know a SP.

Regarding the satisfied client / shrill issue. Honestly if some time has passed since you wrote a recommendation for your favourite SP write again.

For me, at this point of my involment with this site, recos are not that important. There are many good points here so far, but I notice that most of them are from seasoned Cerbians.

When I was a newbie to my hobbying, I needed recos to reassure myself that I was seeing someone who was very professional, and thus had recos proving this. If we could get some newbies to respond, this would provide a more reasonable indication of your poll question. I agree with RG and Pete as well, as I feel it is important to write the recos for the ladies to perhaps meet new clients, and there are manymore newbies than there are seasoned members... just sayin'!!

Semi - Short reply Pete. The three things in red at the top there....although I didn't say those things on this thread or ever intended to...... they most certainly ALL apply to me.

I write them and now have fun doing so even if they are retarded..... but I rarely rarely read one unless it pops up on the Cerb homepage.

I understand the concept of CERB.....I realize I am no doubt a minority for not using recco's.....but we all are different and have our own reasons and method of madness for being here and to meet ladies we want to meet.

I like to read what the ladies type all by themselves ! Whether it be an ad, a post on an informative thread or on a fun thread. This tells me their personality which is huge if you ever want to have a connection with anyone IMO :)

Just sayin......

MightyPen....whatever..and good on you.

No. I'm really not. So there, we've established that much.

I originally found the board when simply looking for ads. I spent some time reading recommendations, but they never really influenced my decisions. My tastes and interests are my own, and eclectic, so I rely on my own instincts and impressions when choosing who to see.

You could delete every single recommendation from CERB, and it would not change the board's value to me in the slightest. They have nothing at all to do with why I spend time here, or how I choose my companions; in fact I don't think I've read even one in the last year. When it comes to choosing a companion, I'm much more interested in providers' ads and profiles, and often something intriguing about their participation in the many fascinating threads here.

So, having established that recommendations are a trivial feature of CERB for me, here's what I *do* get from the board:

  • information about SPs in several forms, from the providers themselves
  • really interesting discussions about sexuality and the sex-work industry
  • different viewpoints about the industry and the experiences that come with it
  • a fascinating community of interesting people with at least one shared interest, but other than that an incredibly diverse group with wide-ranging discussions that often have nothing at all to do with sex or its industry.

On the other hand, I recognize that the recommendations are a big draw for at least some clients who come here (but far from all, as we can see from the poll), and have value for those providers who benefit from them. So I'm glad for those folks.

But gee whiz Pete... you've got to recognize that no matter what the board may call itself in its banner, or what those who run or old-time regulars may imagine CERB to be, or have been... others can legitimately value different things from this place.

It's cool that you value the recommendations so much. But there's no basis for faulting those who never read them and really don't care about them at all. It's not necessary, or reasonable, to expect that we'd all be "here for the same thing". Plainly your interests are not my interests; the things you value aren't the things I value. But so what? As long as CERB's core business of ads and traffic chugs along, we can each take what we need from this place, and leave others to find value their own way.

Additional Comments:

Yup different strokes for different folks.. thanks your average bear Lee...

There have been lots of new members of late but that doesn't mean there'll be lots of new reco's. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Yes Cerbs intended purpose is to allow gentlemen to post their recos on their ladies, that purpose is to let others know that recoed lady was real, gives good service and could be relied on, that "he" liked her, so you may. There are many men who like that process and rely on it. But there are even more imo that don't. They come to this board because of its reputation of hosting legit members, both hobbyists and sp's, for its content, pictures, profiles, forum. For them all other aspects are their deciding factors and you'll never get them to write a reco, never, its not their style, but they still want and appreciate a site like cerb for all its other points.

I don't think anyones legitimacy, value or quality of service should be judged by their recos, especially the amounts of recos or recos alone as some get them, they attract the men that write them and others don't. I think its more important to choose a lady based on your attraction to her posts, pics, and personal discussions, your emails/phone conversations between the 2 of you, wouldn't that say more? After all just because I like vanilla doesn't mean you will, however if you do then my perception of it may be helpful, its for you to decide:) The nice thing is here you have that choice:)

One of the things I love about this board and other places like it is it is dynamic and in a constant state of evolution. What may have started out as a recommendation board has grown into a community based on its members. The threads, comments, polls, chats, ads etc. all add value to the board making it more than it started out as.

As has been said, there is so much value here that every member has the ability to meet their needs in whatever way they choose. reading reco's, reading ads or posts, links to websites, twitters, blogs etc. There is no right or wrong way and THAT is the beauty here. To each their own and because of the community we have built, there really IS that much variety.

So, while I do it individually as I can, I want to thank everyone who participates because it is that key point that allows everyone here to get whatever they want from the site.

I havent read all the replies so if I'm repeating anything forgive me, but I like to have recommendations to refer a new potential client to...

I'm not exactly the best at self promotion or talking myself up so if a wary or nervous potential client asks me something seemingly silly (but valid i guess) like "well what kind of experience can I expect?" or "what sets you apart from the other ladies?"...i can give my two cents but its easier to say "Dont take my word for it.....check out my 11 pages of reviews from some very satisfied customers". Hehe ;)

For me, I don't use recommendations in making a decision to see a lady. Recommendations are but one way to help a potential client decide on who to see.

I do respect that recommendations are used by some gentlemen, so yes, I do write them (when deserved of course ;-) ). So in that sense, I do give back to the CERB community, well at least I hope I do. Recommendations for me are first and foremost a public thank you to the lady for a wonderful encounter. Second and third reason sort of related. Second is to help the lady build her business by hopefully getting new clients. Third is letting gentlemen know of a wonderful companion to see.

That said, for me, I don't use recommendations to chose who to see. I use a lady's posts on CERB, email correspondence and pm's to get an idea if we will click. Recommendations are a tool, one tool available on CERB to help a potential client decide who to see. But CERB also has the board, and pm's, other potential tools available as well. So for me at least I didn't come to CERB to read recommendations, but CERB offers other potential tools which aid in deciding who to see, whether intended for that purpose or not.

So yes, CERB is a escort recommendation board, yes, no argument...but it is more than just a escort recommendation board and our reasons for being here may differ. CERB offers different things to different members, it isn't a one size fits all board, if that makes sense. But CERB is only as good as the contributions of it's members

A rambling
