I used to prefer going to agencies just because there were options for when the SP I wanted was not available. Almost like reviewing a catalogue. This was great for situations where it was short notice. Don't get me wrong though cause I have had some awsome experiences with agency bookings. But I have also had some poor sessions.

I now prefer indy's because they seem to enjoy what it is they are doing which makes for a better time. Look at it this way, would you rather have a session with an employee of the business or the proprietor of the business. I feel the indy is going to treat you well in hopes for repeat business. I don't recall having a real bad experience with an Indy. Some are better but none real bad.

For me, I like to get to know a SP a bit thus will enjoy repeat sessions cause a rapport has been established. I find this easier with an Indy than with an agency.

If you fav Indy is not available then an agency call is a good option.

Just my thoughts. I never reseached to see if there was a thread already.

I have to agree that I prefer Indy's and it is all because of the employee/employer aspect. For me I want good service in all my dealings, thats why I tend to prefer local business to chain or franchise...you tend to get better service (not gtd of course).

I've loved my indies this year. But my agency experiences have all been great, too: Blair and Scarlett from Cupid's; Summer from T2T; and my Australian punts with girls from Bedroom Eyes and Six Star Models. No complaints at all. Emmie Olsen from French Kiss MTL was also a highlight, and I like how FK take care of their girls, screening clients etc.

Garden of Eden has Roksi and Robyn whom I'm planning (eagerly) to see in Toronto.

It's all good.

And yes, congrats to WIT on his 500th.

I?ve said it in the past; the Indys seem to be more fun as you can get a little more personable with them. I have developed some friendships with some Indys here and I find that you can?t get that with the agencies.

I honestly can't say I've detected any difference in the quality of service or the degree of intimacy. Clearly there are individual variations, but in my experience these don't depend on whether or not the sp is an indy. It's more a matter of personalities and the degree we 'click'.

As someone who does both, I give the same high level of service whether the client booked me independently or through the Playgirls.

You can also establish a rapport with agency women, I have a few regular clients with the Playgirls and look forward to seeing them. And since I never know who I'll see an in evening, because I don't do the bookings, it's always fun surprise.

I'm an independant here in TBay, I've never worked for an agency. I have spoken to girls here that have done both.

One of the girls I spoke to said that during her calls the agency takes more than she does home (I think the split was, from 180$, 30$ to the driver, 100$ for the agency and 50$ to the girl) What the hell is that kind of split???

I'm sure not all agencies are like this everywhere, god I hope they aren't.

Clients I've seen here in TBay seem to have a communal thought about the agencies doing a lot of bait-n-switch... :( Again, that's too bad.

I'm glad that cerb was here for me, as it allowed me to gain the knowledge I needed for this industry without having to get screwed over by anyone :)

I'd love to have someone booking calls for me, but that is called a secretary ;)

That's fucking criminal. Are you sure it wasn't 50 to the agency and 100 to the girl? I remember talking to an agency girl once in Ottawa and she said on a $220 call, she would get $140. $50 is terrible - not even a decent living wage because it's much more than an hour's work and she'd have to take on 15 clients a week to live modestly.

That's a small reason why I prefer indy. Understandably, agencies work for some girls since they can't or don't want to handle all the booking and whatnot. But I much prefer that they get most, if not all the cash in their pocket.

I find Indy's more credible than agencies. I also like the more personal aspect of visiting with an Indy. I'm more likely to strike up a friendship with the Indy than an agency girl. I would enjoy a friendship with an Indy as much as the physicality of the encounter. If I were to find such a friend, I would be more apt to repeat.....often. I would still budget for some exploration though.

No, that was the split... My friend didn't work for them afterwards, obviously. (She had also played up the fact that she hadn't worked before, so I assume they thought she was fresh to the industry... they even tried to take her tip, which was 20$)

We (my friend and I, both independants) ran into another ex-escort here, who in her words exactly said "Nah, I'm not working, just pimpin' bitches out." She looked totally drugged out on something... I thought it was sad, we didn't stick around to chat, just walked on.

It angered me that there are people taking advantage of girls that are trying to get into the industry or just hard up for cash...

I'm not saying that all agencies are the same, I would love to work for a reputable one, on top of being an independent, but for now, here in TBay, I'll stick to solo!

Agreed, that is outrageous. My agency takes half, which is still pretty crazy, but I work independently to make up the difference. It works for me.

I think that`s the way it works in the peg. I`ve talked to a few girls that are with or have been with agencies there. The poor girls have to upsell themselves for extra tips just to make ends meet. I`ve tried agencies but had a couple not so good experiences ( two out of two ) So for me, I`ll stick to the MPs and indies.

Indies only, for me.

Two reasons important to me.

She gets all the cash, and screens clients her way.

? Can girls working for an agency turn down clients (either types or repeats) that they would rather not deal with, even though they have been screened by the agency.

I can see the agency getting half the fee. After all it`s a business and liscense fees, advertizing, phone people and drivers aren`t cheap. most businesses charge out employees at least twice what they pay them. Why would anyone opperate a business for nothing.

to tell the girls to go to a call wheather they want to or not is wrong.

to tell them to collect the agency fee of which they get very little of and then start negotiating with the customer for any kind of service at all is wrong.

I don`t know if I just picked a couple bad agencies or if they`re all that way here but this happened to me twice out of two calls so third time is shame on me. I won`t try again unless I get a good recomendation from someone here on this board.

I think that half is still a bit on the high side.. I know with some agencies that are outcall only, the half does include the fee to pay the drivers.

Here's the thing, in order to keep an agency running obviously there has to be a good income in order to pay the bills.. Phone bills, advertizing and staffing the phones can cost a pretty penny.

When Indy you have to absorb the costs, and while its true that you will make more per call.. You do miss out on opportunities when you phone rings and you cant answer it.

Its a strange phenomenon, in this business its almost like fishing.. when its busy its like the fish are biting.. and they are all biting at the same time and when its dead.. you check your phones thinking something is wrong..

If you are busy when the phones are too alot of clients will just continue on the next ad and you wont get to see them.. If you have a person answering for you, and scheduling properly it can really really add up..

Again, just my point of view..

I wonder if that's even allowed. I thought we had some kind of law that only a certain % can be charged and anything above that is racketeering? In BC, I beleive the max is 30% that they can take. (I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure :?:). It sounds from what I've read that the agencies back there are getting away with a lot more than they should be allowed to.

I do both agency and Indy here in BC. The place I contract out to will charge 180 for the hour. Out of that $65 goes to the agency, ($60 to the agency, $5 tip to the phone girl) and all tips are the girls to keep. If it's an out call, depending on the traveling time involved, there are set fees for the drivers which are added onto the initial cost so regardless the girl gets $115 for the hour. I like doing the Indy thing because I get to keep all my own money but the agency is also nice because they have their own advertising which puts me out there to a much larger base than I would have on my own. There is also security, (where I work anyway), and they will, at all cost, make sure that if something bad is going down, the girls is removed from the situation post haste.

I can and have turned down calls with the agency I work for and they are totally supportive of that. They also keep a list for each girl of clients they won't see so that the girl doesn't have to deal with it again. (No packing the bags for a guilt trip or anything.;)). Sometimes I like that the office books my calls and takes care of everything. As long as they are keeping up their end I have no problem continuing to pay them. I also don't live in the town that I work out of so the agency having a house for me to use for in calls is great as well. I do find though that the Indy calls are nice too, because there's no "knock on the door" and if you go over a few minutes....oh well....no biggie. I have made friends with both Indy and agency clients and have regulars on both sides of that equation. There is plus and minus to being either Indy, agency or a bit of both. It really all depends on what works for the girl I suppose. Some clients prefer Indy, some prefer agency, some just want a good time and don't care where the girl works as long as they, (the client), leaves satisfied and happy. :boobies:.

As for bait and switch, it goes on no matter whether it is Indy or agency and a lot of the time the Indy girls, (out here anyway), are the ones pulling the bullshit scams, bait and switch etc...because there is no "overseer" to make sure they're not. Some agencies are also better than others, it all depends on who you go through. IMO, Just like any business, you've got honest and dishonest, both Indy and agency.

Honestly, I doubt that the agencies that did that were even agencies... Sounds more like pimping to me. That's what that girl said that we met. She was pimping out her bitches apparently... :(

It's too bad, I think that these girls take advantage of other girls getting into the industry, seeing that they can make more off someone else rather than doing the work themselves. It's very nonconstructive for the industry. These "agencies" probably pop up, do their thing (the wrong way), then close up to reopen under a different name. (I'm just speculating from what I've been witness to up here)

I've had emails from prospective "agencies" looking to "help me". When I ask them how they can help me, what they offer and other information on them, I never hear back from them. So much for business tact ;)

I'm doing well as an independent, I think that a lot of that has to do with the fact that I love what I do, I have a business background (for marketing and planning) and that I have a good personality for building the client/SP rapport needed in this industry.

Oooh, :) maybe I should open a GOOD, reputable agency up here :)

well that sounds pretty fair to me and if that`s actually the way it is in Winnipeg then I`ve been scamed by the agency girls. I would really like to find out how a split goes down here. Does anyone know?

They should be able to if the agency is reputable at all. I had a client who was a repeat who constantly asked me to bareback, so I told Tracey I didn't want to see him anymore and it was done. No problemo.

Good point about the rapport. Some don't feel the same way as you and I. I like this because of the comfort level you can get as a repeat offender.

50% for the agency is standard from my experience. I have ran for agencies, been independent and owned an agency and they all have upsides.

Agency owners take all the real legal risks and have to come up with the cash when they need lawyers so I think 50% is fair. Their costs are considerably higher than independents if they run a proper business. An agency allows women who do not have the experience or time to manage their own business to make money and stay safe. My girls not only had to pay 50% but had to participate in a financial management program that included buying a house, becoming debt free, saving for retirement and getting an education. I also had book on-off fees, company cell phone fees, and they paid the driver. It was my way of sifting thru the ones that weren't committed. Once they had proven themselves, the fees were eliminated. The key to a great agency is the owner's commitment to both the providers and the clients. It is a tricky balance but well worth the effort.

Indies are a completely different type of girl. She is committed to making her own way and takes full responsibility for building her business. She spends her time and energy ensuring her day runs the way she wants it to and that her clients feel a connection. She is intelligent, usually savvy and street smart.

Both venues serve different needs and are a welcome part of this business.
