Best Restaurants in Canada...

Recommended Posts

There was a recent thread regarding good restaurants in Halifax but given all the traveling that CERB Members do what about the Best Restaurants in Canada... Ladies where do you like to eat.... where should we take you?

I am in St. John's NL and I would recommend any of the following St. John's resturants:

When I had my sleepover with Lonna Lux a couple years ago I took her to dinner at Zorro's Steakhouse, near Pearson Airport

I don't know if the best in Canada, but we both had a good (and filling) dinner...make sure you go there with an appetite. Steaks are BIG

In Toronto one of my favourite places to go for a quiet meal with someone special would be George, in the warmer months the back patio is really quite beautiful and the tasting menu (with wines) can be quite an experience as well.

George - http://www.georgeonqueen.com/

Bero is a small dining room with great attention to detail, certainly worth a visit. http://bero-restaurant.com

If I'm looking for something a little more 'fun' with an out on the town vibe rather than feeling like date night I think Bar Isabel is a great stop.

Lee and Blowfish never disappoint me, both are consistent in quality year after year.

Bad day to post that, La Ferme Rouge burned down on the weekend.

OH MY!! I did not know. I hope no one was hurt?

I hope they make a comeback. They corner the market of cabaret dining.

When I lived in Victoria, BC, my favorite restaurant was Milestones. Right on the harbour and great food.

A great lunch place was Sams - they served the biggest Roast Beef Sandwiches.

In Saint John, NB, Vitos Pizza is hands down the best pizza in Canada.

I also like Bamboo East for Chinese Food.

When in Moncton, NB, go to Pastilles! So fantastic, best is the tuna steak!

Also Tide n Bore! Great gourmet style, small cozy and the best bartenders in NB! No fake lime juice here, all hand squeezed juices for drink mixes!

No suggestions really for Fredericton, LOL, we lack in good food here. Brewbakers I would say is the finest food for this city.

In Kingston, as far as delis go, the Golden Rooster Deli

Not a fancy restaurant, stand up, wait for your number to be called, order, then get a table and wait for your hot meal to be served

But good roughly in the $0-$20 range

my two cents between Charlottetown, PE and St. John's, NL.

Charlottetown

Min Su Cafe, on Water Street = Best Bi Bim Bap (korean salad) I've had (admittedly, I've never been to Korea) and the owner is a real gem.

Merchantman Pub, also on Water Street = Pub food with the occasional gastronomic twist, highly recommend the Tupelo Street Chicken, if still on menu.

Downtown Deli, on Grafton = Best sandwiches in town (sorry, Leonards, you beautiful German delicatessen, but the Lebanese have you beat).

St. John's

Get Stuffed, on Duckworth = Great name, great food, great prices and $1 hot dogs on the menu for your picky partner.

Sun Sushi, on Duckworth and Stavenger = The Stavenger one seems better for the entire menu, but is an ugly location. You can't go wrong with either for sushi. (disclaimer, i only eat veggie rolls, so perhaps not a real endorsement for real sushi, but if you like spicy broccoli roll...)

Crane's, located in a North Atlantic, down the Southern Shore = admittedly not a restaurant, more of a truck stop, but they have a solid chips, dressing and gravy, and their custard cone machine is only broken 8 months of the year.

Charlottetown has a more ethnically diverse population, and therefore better food in a wider variety. No offence to St. John's, but you could stand to lay off the salt a little.

  • Atlantica Resturant - Amazing food wonderful ocean view and fantastic accomodations... enjoy a great meal then hang out in a jacuzzi tub overlooking the ocean with your favorite lady http://http://atthebeachhouse.ca/

Update... unfortunately one if the restaurants I recommended has now closed.... I am pretty sure someone will reopen it but for now closed.

Besides being a great restaurant they had amazing accommodations overlooking the ocean.... a perfect spot to take a CERB lady or two for a longer dinner and play date.

Hmmm this is a tough one!

London: The Tasting Room or The Church Key

Toronto: The Korean BBQ (it's my fav place to eat at a low key place) and Blowfish; also Keriwa cafe (it's a bit out there on Queen Street East but it is literally the best and most authentic Aboriginal cuisine I've had in Toronto--Bannock too but I've never ate there just heard great things)

Sault Ste Marie: Fratelli's on top of the hill (it is the sons of the owners of the Gino's family restaurant and more modern/relaxed)

That's really all the places that come to my mind but I am not a picky water and love to try to new places (all the time)!

Love this list BTW!
