Summary of bill C-36 legal effects

Recommended Posts

There is so much pure politicking in that bill it makes me puke.

Almost all the offenses are already illegal, procuring, under age, drug dealing, use of drugs to overcome resistance, etc. But now the Tories will try to take credit for making them illegal in their new bill.

This bill is soooo screwed, it's not even funny! Look at how much is open to interpretation! I will laugh if this bill gets tossed out. The Cons are heading down a road where they shouldn't be going when they have no clue what they're talking out.

If they lose the next election, it will be someone else's mess to clean up when shit hits the fan. Typical Cons.. you won't be getting my vote you bunch of idiots!

I'm waiting for the first judge to throw out the first case.

Officer, you are charging this person with the purchase of sexual services is that right? What exactly do you consider sexual services?

Well, you know, like the lady says, 'everyone knows' what sexual services are.

Oh, really.

So many contradictions!

Legal to sell but illegal to purchase.

Legal to communicate for the purpose of selling, illegal to communicate for buying.

I've been quite quiet about this bullshit bill but I am so sick and tired of the fear it's creating for the hobbyists, it's literally making me sick.

I get PM's "You are on my wish list, I need see you before the bill passes", I'm starting to find these PM's insulting, I as many other Companions are established and safe to see no matter what and I'm upset that the hobbyists are in such a frenzy of manic panic and that is what they want.

Screw the bill if it passes, we will need to change the language when communicating but how hard is that.

I and many Companions have established businesses as Companions, we are reputable and legit Companions. From Coast to Coast there are hundreds of reputable Companions like myself that are safe to contact and you know we are not LE.

Just a suggestion. Make a list, possibly an Excel sheet with the established, reputable and trusted Companions you see and want to see with all their contact information (Name, email, phone # and website), password protect it and either put it on a USB or email it to yourself or whatever but put it in a safe spot.

Anyways, I see it like this. I Lexy Grace am an Elite Courtesan Companion, the donation I receive is for my time and companionship only. Whomever I am spending time with we could be watching a movie or having dinner. That person just wanted companionship and company. I am not selling sex, I am selling time for someone to spend with me. I have many encounters options that don't involve anything physical, if we happen to have sex, that was free. They paid for my Time and Companionship Only.

I have something in motion if the bill passes to ensure my safety and that of the person I am spending quality time with as a companion for time and companionship only. What I have in motion will be available soon. Just some tweaking and word play but I have been working hard on this.

These are just my thoughts and what I have been holding in way too long, I'm sure some will disagree but there is no need to start a negative debate over something that is just so wrong and negative already IMHO.

All My Love, Hugs and Support,

Lexy

Concerns of escorts and customers are serious and I respect them.

But prostitution is not on the minds of many people these days.

There are horrible conflicts going on all over. People worry about job security, feeding their families, building a future for their children. How many people sit at their dinner table wondering about whether escorts should be allowed to pay their driver or not....very few. There too may other and more immediate worries.

This is my issue. Instead of working on things to actually help ordinary people the Tories are piddling away and playing games with C36. They could fix it quickly and quietly. They prefer to look like they are doing things instead of actually doing things. Image is all they care about. Of course C36 is flawed. The Tories know that and DO NOT CARE.

They eagerly crap all over SPs and pooners just to get votes. C36 is not about safety or what is right, it is about pandering to an audience.

Lexi,

I am going to agree with you.

I have been planning on getting into sex work for quite a few months now. I have finally taken the plunge and am starting to get all my ducks in a row. I was quite concerned about getting myself "out on the market" so to speak before this bill passes as I was concerned about being an unknown provider to potential gentlemen who would normally not have any concern about contacting a new provider.

I agree in that I am being paid for my time and companionship as well. With my plans for entering this industry, I have thought about the type of dates I would like to engage in and they are not all sexually oriented either.

I am also meeting with a lawyer friend of mine to go over proper wording and package offerings to ensure some added security to my future gentlemen callers, but I am sadden that I even have to do this. The gentlemen I am interested in spending time with will be like minded individuals who share the same interests as me and if they are considered "perverts" then what does that say about me?

I do wish this was not the case, and this bill will be changed, but I am not very hopeful I am afraid. It seems as though some are really pushing for this type of model in our country. If this Bill passes, it will be a sad day in Canada.

The Conservatives will lose the next election and C-36 will be struck down. It's just a matter of time...

In the event of this bill passing and how the industry keeps evolving, people will adjust to change because they will have to. I've seen many changes over time and the way business will be conducted is one of them.

I've been through many of these changes as to how SPs and customers communicate and in the last few years, imo has become way too explicit and brazen.

Even though techinically it is a business transaction, it literally has become a business transaction. Imo, the experience of seeing an SP and spending time together has been thrown out the window through the medium of classified ads.

Everything seems to be now, now, now and "What can I get for this price?", "I only need 10 minutes of your time, what can I get?". We might as well all be in a Starbucks type setting taking and receiving orders. Perhaps this will bring back the aspect of "paying for time and companionship" and not just a particular act.

I come from the era of meeting a gentleman behind closed doors where what we do is only to privy to two consenting adults and not for the whole world to know.

i do as well. I think that everything carries on as usual, just will be different things to work around. I'd like to see more from Swedish/Norwegian sex workers, but i think language is an issue to find out how they work around the law, and the repercussions if their client is hit with a fine.

it seems to be just an exercise in semantics.

I can guarantee that sex workers have a much bigger vocabulary than Harper.
