What's your experience? Are ads and pictures accurate? Is it safe? I see ads on there that don't show up here. I'm intrigued by some but afraid to go through with it.

BP is one ad site. Going forward, and part of doing your research, is ensuring that sps you are interested in have ads on more than just one site.

I have ads on bp, lot's of ladies do and sure there is bait and switch, just like there is on any other site. Some ladies will only advertise on review boards or cerb and that's fine, but since I don't partake on review boards (5% of my income comes from review boards) I advertise on bp.

Do your research, google phone numbers and if the lady is not established, don't risk it.

BP is a mish-mash of Bait & Switch, scams and legit ladies, some established, some not.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid some serious headaches:

BP is one of those sites that has a wide range of ladies advertising. From the more exclusive ladies who have higher rates and usually are not available without pre-booking to the ladies who are maybe just starting out or simply have a less exclusive business model to the bait & switch and other undesirables.

As always, Google is helpful. And if it's in the Ottawa area, the Cowboy's Diary is going to be your savior! It's full of exposes on the scammers, liars and fly-by-nights so you don't waste your time or money.

As a general rule, if the photos look like model quality pictures and yet the lady has fairly low rates and no website... probably not her real pictures. Tineye is a great way to confirm if someone has just swiped a model's images and cropped them to pass of as their own.

Start researching ladies by googling them as others have mentioned and see what other sites they advertise on because it is the only thing that will save you from winding up in a hotel room with law enforcement. This site is where most established ladies have a presence. Some remain low key on one site but it is here where you will find the answers. If it looks to good to be true on BP, it usually is.

Yup, sps who don't use one of the most well known and well used site are basically making a business mistake over the long term. It is easy to get caught up in the bp bad hype hysteria, but it is, after all, only an advertising site.

Another thing to look for is if she has clicked to show her other ads. Most sps have more than a single ad in rotation, possibly in more than one category. Looking at an ad and not seeing a list of their other ads might be a red flag if they don't have other ads.

I primarily advertise on BP because that is where you advertise in Winnipeg. I get a bit of business from ads here, the vast majority of it from BP and almost nothing from any of the other places I advertise. So it depends a lot on the city.

I only have a single ad on BP which I move to the top every now and then. I don't post multiple ads, because I don't need to - my category is small and ads get pushed down very slowly.

Look at a lot of factors, use your best judgment, but don't assume that everyone on BP is a fake or scammer.

The majority of my business comes from BP.

Look for ladies who have a web presence beyond BP (e.g. a website, ads on other sites, etc).

I would argue that scams and bait and switch are also primarily targeted to what city you're located in as well. Just like bp can generate a lot of income for ladies .. and a lot of scams, it really depends on what city you're in . some city's are more prone to scams than others.

Just my two cents.

Many many ads are too good to be true on backpage, so searching a lady's photo through google or tineye, searching her phone number and name and seeing if there are any reviews on her is a good idea. Not all girls who can't be found are fake, some are new, some have a new name.

But many offer extremely low rates, use fake pictures, don't offer what they said they would, cancel/don't show up, or have other issues.

But many ladies advertise on many sites, I use bp sometimes when I offer incalls. As long as you double check and do a little searching you will be better off than going in blind and potentially having a bad experience if it is bait and switch or a scammer with a name change and fake pics.

Lots of good advice from all the ladies and I echo a lot of what has been said. BP isn't all bad but like the ladies have pointed out, do a little research. Check pictures using something like Tineye or similar. If the pictures are fake, how can the lady in question be considered totally honest? That's just a starting point though. There are subtle signs that things aren't quite kosher. One thing I have noticed is some of the BP ads where the ladies name seems to change on a weekly basis yet the pictures are the same. Maybe she's just trying to find the right name or maybe she's dodging trouble, I don't know but it's a red flag for me. Another one is the phone numbers. If a different girl shows up on there every few days but the number is the same, my guess is they are being handled by somebody else, agency or worse and that is not a good sign. Lastly, if you see an ad that looks just too good to be true, try looking at the BP ads for another city and see if the same pictures and ad show up. It would be a neat trick for a lady to be in Alberta and Ontario the same night.

Lots of reputable ladies post ads on there so it just takes a little patience and smarts to see what's real and what's suspect.

I'm going to state that although there is some good advice here I don't think people should be generalizing BP. EVERY area is different and EVERY area has it's own problems but when you make a generalization you're speaking for the entirety of BP. Scams, bait and switch, fake pics happen EVERYWHERE, not just on BP.

If a lady has a new name, it's for one of 3 reasons; she's a scammer, she has stalker issues or she has changed it for business purposes, if you are legitimate lady you will make your customers and peers aware of the change, just like I plan to do when I change my name .. and my name is being changed to comply with new laws and board changes, nothing else.

There are fakers and scammers everywhere but I can tell you that before classified ads like CL and BP, there weren't as many as there are now. As soon as these sites came onto the scene, that's when some women who thought because they had a cell phone and throw up an ad and the ability to rent a hotel room that they were now considered ;in the business.

It was never like that before. Most ladies started out with an agency and many moved onto establishing an independent presence. Not just put up an ad and now they're ready for hire so to speak. As soon as people starting using classified ads, no longer was the escort industry a taboo thing with their own websites. Now you could buy tires and a "date" in the same place. Without that kind of exposure, the adult industry remained more out of the day to day public eye. </p>

And before anyone claims im putting down new ladies, understand that if these classified ads didn't exist, I don't think they would be as much bait and switch. Sure there are new girls who put in the effort but how many are out there thinking they can make x amount of money without putting a lot of work into it? Or worse, some ladies not being able to make their own choices as to who they can and can't see when it comes to clients. And the worst is a guy going on a site with reservations and hoping it will be the same girl in the picture and not have a big dude hiding behind the door waiting to rip a person off. These sites are so mainstream now that some people are in it just to scam people and that's it!

Sorry but it's true. It didn't happen this way when a new girl entered the business or scammers passing through ripping off clients who want to just meet someone nice. Didn't work like that and in the last couple of years has gone downhill. There is no more effort anymore. Throw up a classified ad and you're now in the business. Everything is instant gratification and times it's like pulling teeth to try and get some guys to take a look at a lady's website and being told to eff off because they don't have time.

It is known that I'm not a fan of BP. I tried it yesterday for the first time in 8 months and wanted to rip my hair out. I guess you could say I'm from a different escorting era.

BP... CL... etc. etc.... all present their challenges. In the world we live in it possible for anyone with a computer or smartphone to place credible looking ads... some will be legit and some will be bait and switch and some will just be some idiot on a lark.

So what can we do.... well what we have always done, be smart, do some research check out websites, uses resources to verify pictures seek info from others on sites like LYLA... bottom line do your homework.

Before the new law we relied on the same tools the difference was the risk was significantly less... if someone gambled the risk was a few hundred dollars and your time wasted on a bait and switch because LE really did not bother ladies working indoors. Now we have Harper intrusion into our private lives to worry about.

So the risk has gone up the reward is still just as good... people will reevaluate, they will be more careful and this will mean less bookings for the perceived as higher risk who are on BP and the other sites.. this will make life much harder for new individuals entering the business.

Just my Opinion

Before the online ads, there was paper ads.

In one of the 2 or 3 available weeklies, there was someone doing the 3 person scam in my area. Sp in the ad makes an appt, client shows up, pays $$, sp as is normal takes $$ out of room, when she returns she apologizes for a delay as she got a call from a friend in distress, friend within a minute or two is knocking on the door, another apology while sp 'deals' with friend but she'll be right back, and so she is, but yet now someone knew is banging on the door, open up, male voice, oh oh, the BF of the distressed friend, oh, dear client, you had better leave, as "BF'; makes a lot of threatening noises. does client get a refund? nope, he gets the offer of 'i'll make it up to you". and off he goes. 3 person scam, also repeated via online ads.

The weeklies are very legit, the person advertising at the time had to come in and show proof of age, supply real name information, and the phone # had to be legitimate and working. All the verifications process you could hope for as a client.

Even spending up to 250 a month on the weekly ad, some still do the B&S and scams. Of course these costly paper ads include the B&S and scamming agencies too.

So even just the fact anyone can put up an online ad same day and start a racket doesn't mean that the other venues aren't still open to illegit type operations.

We have to be very careful when we generalize things. As other persons said, it depends on the city. Being in Kingston, 95% of my clientele comes from BP. I wish that more gentlemen in Kingston knew about Cerb/Lyla but it is definitely not the case. Plus there are gentlemen who, even if they are part of the Cerb/Lyla community, do not wish to write a recommendation about a lady, even if they have spent a good moment with this lady, simply because they are not interested at all in writing a recommendation. By saying that BP is bad, you can hurt ladies like me, working in smaller cities, who really care about what they do, and are proud to offer the best of them to gentlemen so that they can spend a delightful moment together. Please, do not generalize or categorize. Do your screening work and research when you wish to book an appointment with a lady. And if you have any doubt in the process at any moment, stop and do not go further. Scams exist everywhere.

Thank you for not misjudging or categorizing quickly.

BP 'can' be a good place, but certainly do your research.

I see a lot of advice that seems to conflict other advice here.

Such as, 'check to see if a lady has other ads on other sites', 'be on the lookout if a lady has ads on other sites', 'makes sure there are recommendations' (quite difficult due to not being able to ask for reco's or lack of gentlemen wanting to post them) a little contradictory.

I advertise on several sites, but I really like what cerb/lyla offers.

And just like it was said before, just because someone doesn't have a boatload full of recommendations, does not mean that she is not what she says she is.

It is up to you to use your instinct.

I have see many a client from cerb/lyla repeatedly, yet most do not post a reco.

Why? I have no idea, but most say they do not like to 'tell their experiences'.

If the pictures look like $10,000 a day models with very low rates or poorly written content, no website to review, chances are they are fake. If 'her' name changes as often as the wind blows, or her age is different in several ads, you have a problem.

If the pics are seen in several cities for the same period of time, you definitely have a problem (unless that girl has a teleporter, lol).

Bait and switch has, and will be, a problem in this industry.

One of the things that can reassure you, is by contacting the particular girl (using her preferred method), get some feedback on your inquiry. Inquiries are always accommodated, as long as you approach her in the manner that she has requested. Please review her website or ads for details on that.

But the old saying holds true, if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.

I have met a great many wonderful gentlemen from that site, no , no shows, last minute cancellers or game players either, sadly, I do get those here though. All sites, as has been said, have their ups and downs, good and bads and other highlights and issues. Any business woman is entitled to make her decisions as to where she chooses to advertise, some sites will work, some won't. But I think it a mistake to generalize any as all bad or all good and to just stick to one.

Scams aren't caused by a site they are caused by people. Before online ads the newspapers and phone books ruled. Anyone with the ability to pay for the ad and answer a phone had business, to have continued business you had to have know how, dedication to work hard, work long hours and provide a good service. Back then some clients could be blamed for some of the scams/scammers. I'll explain- When I was involved in running services and when a cute, 19yr-25yrold new girl came along, a lot of clients would ask for her of course, then ask her for her phone number, the speel they'd give-you should give it to me so I could give you all the money, then you wouldn't have to pay the service a portion. Some of the honest girls would report this back, the less honest would follow through, and after a few weeks, months, because eventually they'd loose those clients, start running an indy ad and usually many ads, they'd still want to make the same $$, but without a service or regular clients it became difficult. So some resorted to scams.

I'm sure even before then, scams were occurring. Times change, advertising changes, businesses change as do people and never for one reason. In the end, scammers are making money, or they wouldn't be advertising. So if you want to stop the scams stop paying the scammers.

I think there is a pretty good range of opinions here to draw from already, but I would add my two cents that whenever something seems too good to be true, it usually is. If you apply the "common sense" test/filter to most BP ads, it's not all that difficult to distinguish the reputable sps from the less ethical percentage of our population. One thing I can say with 100% certainty - if it says the poster's origin is Donetska, Ukraine, she's hiding something from you :P

I've been advertising on BP for almost 2 years. I take and use my own pictures only. However in recent months, it quite clear to me that something strange is going on. There has been a lot of bait n switch, a lot of younger ladies switching up their names and mobile app numbers not to mention working in groups of duos or trios. Based on my relevant or irrelevant experience, I highly recommend staying away from these types of motel traps. BP does have a variety of images to stimulate anybody mind however as mentioned above, just use your better judgement and to stay safe!

I have read through the comments on this string and must agree that with BP as well as other sites -- except Lyla -- it is very much the rule of buyer beware. I probably have too much time on my hands, but my non-scientific survey of BP posts today found that there were numerous phonies among the legits. There are many ways of fooling the client and even with the best precautions there is no absolute guarantee that the girl you see in the ads will be the one you meet. Some of the ruses used may also be part of a bait and switch scheme.

Check for:

. Offer is too good to be true

phony pics stolen from another site (check Google images or Tiny eye)

. pictures are out of date (Some regulars on BP have photos years out of date)

. if the links are to foreign sites or some far flung part of the US the image is likely not legit (e.g. found some recent posts with links to Holland and France)

. posted age that changes and varies more than a year or two

. multiple name changes indicating a new provider

. posting indicating that images are 150% to 1000% real. How real can you get?

. poorly written post with lack of detail about the woman

. I avoid certain locations or hotels (e.g Montreal Road or Rideau Street)

Unfortunately fewer and fewer men are putting recommendations up about the women they see, so a lack of a recommendation does not mean that the woman will not provide a good service. That said, the many good recommendations on Lyla are a pretty good basis to make a good choice of provider.

One of the best ways to avoid disappointment is ask questions in advance, preferably by phone. If the person is not forthcoming with details about the accuracy and currency of the photos, body description, services etc., it may indicate that the person is not legit. Listen carefully to the voice and go with your gut.
