Guest S****r Report post Posted January 6, 2014 ....to get tested regularly! I just went for my regular STI testing. I go every three months.Help keep us all safe by getting tested regularly. The Sexual Health Clinic at Clarence and Cumberland in the market provides anonymous free testing. You don't have to show a health card or any ID. You can put any name down on the form and it will not be questioned. Everything is done by a number instead of a name. They offer walk in service, but when I tried that, there was a long wait and the waiting room was full of people. But they do also book appointments, and I have found that is the way to go. Happy and safe hobbying, my friends! Prudent and painless.
randyzak 3600 Report post Posted January 6, 2014 Good advice, Summer! Everyone should know that there are more options than the main clinic located downtown. Put the following keywords into Google... ottawa sexual health satellite clinics ...and follow the first link to the City of Ottawa's website that has all the info about the locations elsewhere around town. Unlike the main clinic that does take appointments, I believe the satellite clinics are on a walk-in basis only. During the consultation you will be asked for your family doctor's name by the public health nurse. They ask this only to know if you have access to regular health care, not to notify your doctor of your hobbying lifestyle. Their approach is "no news is good news." If you do not hear from them within 3 weeks after your visit, then you are in the clear.
FunValerie 8573 Report post Posted January 6, 2014 It is always best to take a proactive approach and go back to get the results just in case they forget to call you. You can get a print out of the results. I like to feel safe and happy. Valerie
