While a huge foodie I am such a wine moron. I know I love veuve cliquot but a cheap prosseco makes me smile. I like red over non bubbly white and tend to stick with a Beaujolais or a merlot.

Meg, do yourself a favor and instead of having a Beaujolais (can't stand Beaujolais lol) try a nice Pinot Noir.

For $25 you can get a beautiful Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast.

 

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Pinot Noir (I prefer a wine with more structure, texture and body), from time to time, I do not mind it with fish or a light pasta dish. It's also delicious with seafood and/or can be easily be enjoyed without any food at all because of its soft lightness.
