I do use words of affection like hun, love and/or darling (but definitely never baby), because I want the man I'm speaking to, to feel comfortable and that I am available to him, instead of just being grammatically correct.
I re-read my messages before sending them and sometimes that one word of affection will make the sentence sound softer and less impersonal.
Also for me, my first language is spanish and in spanish when we are speaking to some one of interest we always use words of affection in our speech so to me it comes naturally when I am speaking in english
But definitely gave me something to think about for future messaging!
