I saw Alexiane at Pigs on Saturday, it's good to see some of the pre-pandemic girls.

One thing from before the pandemic that has not returned is lying on the stage with a $20 in your mouth. Some guy tried that and I have never seen the bouncers throw someone out so fast.

LOL I didn't even think of that, shit is different now.  I guess bachelor parties are gone too, eh?  Or significantly modified LOL.

  2. Keep in mind, I don't know anything, OK?  Consider that Phil owns the building, the owner of Nuden owns the building, I don't know about the Playmate.

Those guys, if they sold - and I thought this when a listing came out last year for Barefax, especially Phil - would take a huge loss.  I'm guessing they'd have to be offered a freaking TON over what the property is actually worth, and the potential of the club to make.  There's no point.  The only profit is to ride out this current shit and wait till the clubs come back.

If the governments were serious about stopping covid-19 transmission they would clamp down on gyms and force people to wear masks. Most people at the gym don't use masks, during exercise or walking around. Its like they think they are immune because if they pretend than covid-19 does not exist, then they will not get it.

We have enough evidence now that it's private social gatherings where people get infected.  You get this virus from family, friends, and especially co-workers.  "Strip clubs" just makes for a big juicy headline.

Good move by them because, i am sure their rent still needs to be paid. They may have to lower their prices per beer as they will have no entertainment other than sports on TV. They will also have to remove their cover charge too.

I'm almost certain the owner(s) of NuDen owns the entire building.  Not a question of rent, just keeping the property working.

  5. NuDen Instagram:  Bare with us as we continue to adapt to the times. All adult entertainment clubs are forced to close across Ontario. We are remaining open, welcome to Ottawa’s only Sport Grill & Adult Arcade! We will have professional Aerial shows Thursday through to Saturday. Stay tuned!

So it looks like they're getting creative / rebranding / pulling an end run.  See how it works out.

so a club or bar license is negotiable but an adult entertainment license is not transferable, can someone explain

My understanding is that some years ago the bylaw governing adult licenses was amended so that no new ones would ever be assigned.  Only the current ones, in the hands of the current owners (and family) would exist, and when they went out of business strip clubs would eventually disappear.

Friday afternoon: club quite busy-no customer masks (except me, maybe 1 other). All staff wearing masks.  CR normal operation except it seemed customers only getting 2/3 dances. Saw 1 table dance. Working today; Ariel, Dice, Vanessa, Dove, Richie, Selena and maybe 1 or 2 others.

    Rules of engagement?

Actually I think those are the times, historically,  when clubs thrive. My real fear is that the idiot owners will double the price of drinks to cover their present losses.

Believe it or not, I'm wondering if this is a more realistic take.  I see all those Americans on the news saying "let us go free", they don't give a shit about any virus anymore.  The women want to go get haircuts; how many of those guys with the Confederate flags are thinking "fuck it I'm headin' to the titty bar?"

I mean, let's be honest, the reason I'm reading these forums is because I'm wondering when I'll be heading back!

  9. Good points being expressed here.  All the views are valid and appreciated.  Let me ask you this:

Have you considered the number of young ladies who like to strip as a way to make money, and want the clubs to stay open?  There's an existing workforce which will suffer - is suffering right now - if the genre is let die.  I won't go into all the benefits, but trust me, the girls I've known have appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity - they're not victims.

My point being that as much as we might worry that losing customers will kill SCs, I don't think there's any danger of the workforce of dancers going away.  So as long as there are girls, there will be - yeah, maybe less - guys who want to see them.  Thus there will be owners who will see viability in financing a SC.

As for what's gonna keep the business exciting, I have to echo rocky's idea earlier.

I've been to two nights in the past few years where a SC was packed wall to wall, like back in the old days.  First one, when NuDen booked Christy Mack for an appearance.  Second, the final weekend at Barb's.  Both times, the crowd was driven by the fact that all the women came out.  Shit, the night Barb's closed down there were women there from 10 and 15 years ago.  So I say, rocky had the big idea - Events.

  10. Turns out I haven't been to a club in the past few weeks, so I'm short on news.  Keeping this strictly in terms of our favorite pastime, obviously current events will impact the livelihoods of our local venues, servers, and entertainers.  Thought I'd open up a space to discuss how the industry in Ottawa is handling it.  What are you hearing about working hours, closures, impact on the business?

And no, I'm not asking for my self interest.  Not to be a White Knight, but the most important thing is the safety and health of the girls and bar staff.

My god, it's just a money grabbing machine at night.

One girl stopped me in an aisle and started to talk to me. After half a sentence, she told me that I'd have to tip her to continue talking. I laughed in her face and went back to a table of girls who were waiting for me.

I paid the $5 fee to get upstairs and had the girls rotate in one after another. When management figured out what was going on, they tried to put a stop to it. I said, "fuck that" and left. They weren't even continuing the pretence of recording the booth and time. If the girl at the desk was missing, pay the DJ. They just want the money.

A couple of girls were disappointed because a stupid $5 fee cost them a hundred dollars or more each. They said they'd pay the fee, but that wasn't the point of the exercise.

I guess it'll be Pigale's or Playmate if I'm out late.

Are these fuckin' dopes trying to put themselves out of business?  God knows there are enough other people trying to.
