I could set up an unofficial mIRC room but every one would have to download a mIRc client to use it. Lets see how it goes over the next few days and if is taking a long time we can set up a room elsewhere for now! mIrc is very old school now but it can still be done!

It is a internet chat format that is live time. There is no video or audio. It was a forerunner of the java based chat we use now.

I think you should be patient, give mod a chance to get the upgrades done, should see an improvement.

 

If you're going to set up a chat away from the board, remember that CERB has nothing to do with it, and by extension CERB rules don't apply so don't complain about anything that happens there (e.g. something gets their nose out of joint because something says something negative)
