Are getting your photos done a "turn-on" or "put-off"?

Recommended Posts

This is more a discussion of how you feel about doing your photos, whether taking them yourself or having them done by someone.

I'd say for a good portion of who I work with, it's "part of the job". They're not necessarily excited about doing them, but not something they spend days looking forward to either.

I've encountered some that just want it over and done with, putting photos off for as long as they can. A rare few that might think that they enjoy it a little too much, and get turned-on posing for a camera.

I find for myself being behind the camera, the more enthusiasm someone shows for their photos, the more effort and energy I have for putting into the photo shoot. In a sense, I feed off of the positive energy that comes from the front of the camera and am inspired by it.

I'm always so excited about my photoshoots. My most recent ones were done because, upon entering my hotel room and seeing the blue walls, I got excited thinking about buying panties that matched and doing photos there.

And I admit, every time I get photos back, I look at them again and again for a few days, so excited and happy to see myself in these beautiful images

I'm a camera whore... I am way too conceited for my own good.

I'll be putting up new photos soon, I have a shoot planned for when I get back.

It's going to be epic!!!

Addendum: It will not be a lingerie/sexy shoot, I'm aiming for photos that represent me, so fun and crazy with the right amount of sexuality. ;)

Additional Comments:

Most girls I know have issues with being in front of the camera, you shouldn't feed off them, but let them feed off you.

I was a photographer's assistant for two years and not too often did we meet girls like me (camera whores). Most of them needed to be brought out of their shell and it wasn't always easy. Not everyone has the self confidence needed to be in front of the camera, escort or not.

Also, getting turned on, is a little weird. Photo shoots are photo shoot, I'm not going to get all horny over the photographer. It's just business.

Always love your posts Sara :)

I am a shy girl in front of the camera - I feel virginal almost!!

Absolutely, it is all business...the fun part comes later when I get to see how sexy I look and share it with appreciate ladies and gents.

I think you read into what I posted a bit much, or missed the part about me using it to inspire me. If someone is putting more effort than expected, and is enthusiastic about it ... I become even more creative, driven and passionate about the project.

If a photo shoot was just a photo shoot, fashion photographers would be hired for still-life and landscape photography. While there are fundamentals that are universal, each genre requires a different skill set. I've seen people spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for absolutely brilliant photos that do nothing besides provide a flawless photo of them.

I've seen it more than once where someone has been turned on by the combination of nerves, focused attention and being in a compromising state. On the most part though, it becomes a fun time playing dress-up for the camera.

I love Photo Shoots and love to take pics.., much rather someone else taking them as I am not very good at the self portrait thing... Is also stimulating to have some one behind the camera telling u how beautiful and amazing you look..., and how much the camera loves you!!! And that for sure reflects on the outcome at the end, as all that glow just comes out!!!

I have to admit I hate doing photoshoots, I am a nervous wreck before them and am never happy with them. I have a regular photographer I use that I think is excellent, she makes the experience as enjoyable as possible, (and I like her work) she also does a very good job directing me, without her I'd be an awkward mess.

I generally know how to move my body and am okay at styling a shoot but when it comes to doing it by myself it's the task I dread the most. I'm just not comfortable with my own images, my own body and like having a second opinion there. I always see things I want to change, that I want done better... I am my own worst critic and I generally don't turn that voice off when it comes to photoshoots so getting me to do them is like pulling teeth.

I shoot a few times a year but the reality is my body doesn't change all that much and I don't have a lot of new clientèle in Canada, rather the pics are more for those I know so they have something fresh to look at and hopefully enjoy.

For a successful photo-shoot, I think there gotta be some chemistry between the person behind the camera and the lady in front of the camera. Before snapping the first photo, take a moment to know the purpose of the shoots and listen to her ideas. During the shoots, the person behind the camera gives instructions to capture images with her ideas incorporated. It is after all a team work.

I shake my head every time I see SP's posting photos that are poorly lit or totally unflattering. Being a photographer myself, I wonder how offering photography services would be met? I certainly don't want to offend anyone.
