AndyofHalifax 15339 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Given that it has been established that communicating online is not soliciting, and that you wouldn't be legally fooling anyone with these codewords anyway, why do codewords such as Greek, Dining at the Y, etc, still exist? I understand using abbreviations for the sake of brevity (eg. BBBJ), but that isn't always the case when it comes to codewords (eg. Greek). So is it a sense of propriety that keeps these terms in use? Is it better to say Greek than Anal, DATY than cunnilingus? Or is it simply historical? Or am I missing something? TGirl-Kay 7484 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Great question, I don't know the answer though. If I had to guess it's partly out of a sence of propriet and partly because it's our language. All trades have a language of their own, brick layers speak to each other in their own slang and so do truckers, Dr's and computer programers. It's how we let others know that we're part of the club.
