The Truth About Women's Bodies!

Good post Gia. I am a touch hard on myself, especially when factoring in online bmi tools and how clothes fit, but those with eating disorders need help, so society certainly does not need to drive those towards it.

I think this is an appropriate thread to share this on...

Now, I enjoy looking at pictures of women as much as the next person (as anyone who follows the various image threads probably knows!) but it's good every so often to have a reminder about what is sometimes taking place with those images, especially in popular media.

A lot of us have probably seen similar stories, but this 1 minute video really drives home the manipulation happening to showcase a particular (and near unattainable) idealized view of the female body, and the importance of reminding oneself of the variety of real beauty out there.

Thanks for posting this Brad. :) Unbelievable.

Along with most other things in life, I actually do notice a trend in women's photography going towards the more natural, untouched route. I think people want to look at something that is real. People are talking about it more too.

When I post to the various photo threads here on CERB, I, (and some other gents too), do my best to post beautiful photos that represent a wide variety of women, from different nationalities, ages and body types. It's not too hard to find, since there are many websites these days dedicated to a the "real" women look. And "real" doesn't necessarily mean "curvy", because some women are naturally thin, and that is beautiful too. We come in all shapes and sizes. Real just means photos that are untouched, more natural, sometimes imperfect, and represent a healthy, happy woman who is comfortable with her body. The kind of women you might actually see in real life.

One of my new favourite sites that I get photos from is http://realgirlsaresexy.tumblr.com. There is over a thousand pages of beautiful everyday women, representing a wide variety of looks.

Wow thank you for sharing this, Emily. I think it's truly inspirational and really opens people's minds. In this day in age so many women put so much pressure on themselves to be the thinnest and most fit. They drive ourselves through an emotional rollercoaster doing this. It can be so damaging inside and sometimes even on the outside as the low self esteem can often lead to eating disorders. Isabelle Gia's exact picture that she posted has also been used in an ad to raise awareness for anorexia and bulimia. Many people suffer from it. I have actually a few friends who do. And it's a struggle daily. Self acceptance is hard but once achieved can be such a beautiful thing. These women in Emily's pictures radiate true beauty in the healthy glow that they have as well as how clearly happy they are. These women are so much more than just what they look like. They are talented, strong, ambitious, intelligent, passionate, and full of love for life.

It is quite unfortunate that society has pressured women into trying to look a certain way. As a hobbyist, I was often asked my preference: spinner, average, bbw, short, tall etc... My response will forever stay: " My preference is women".

I am in my mid-40s and, like all men, I check the ladies out from top to bottom but, I have also learned that outer-beauty means considerably less than the beauty that can be found elsewhere.

Stay beautiful ladies and thanks for starting this thread!!

If you want pictures of regular women, try http://www.reddit.com/r/gonewild where women and men post naughty pictures of themselves. For the uninitiated, an F or M in the title usually gives away whether it's a guy, girl or a couple. Something along the lines of "{F}eeling frisky in the shower" for example.

To be honest, I think gonewild is about 99% women now since there are other gonewild subreddits that are more specific. For example:

http://www.reddit.com/r/gonewildcurvy (for more curves)

http://www.reddit.com/r/ladybonersgw (for the ladies)

http://www.reddit.com/r/GWCouples (for the amateur pornographers)

In any event, it's all real people posting naughty pictures of themselves without the aid of professional lighting, makeup, hair and post processing.
