It's a huge problem in Ottawa. Which is why we keep really good records, a no show is an automatic ban. Someone who is cancellation we will note it, and if it happens again we ban them.

We really dont like taking advanced bookings, because of the high cancellation/no show ratio.

We dont book via email or txt, because we want to actually talk to the client and get their vibe. Anyone can be anyone by txt or Email.

Perhaps if this a Warning it should be put in the Warning section instead of the general Discussion session.

Well Common sense has to always rule, so if I recieve an email like that, usually we can try to accomodate.. but generally speaking it ends up being alot of back and forth and often, (more often than not) ends up being tire kickers..

Ppl that call are much more likely to see someone.. and in this city where so many no shows happen, we have to put priority on the most likely appts that are going to actually happen.

I know we might seem a bit old school, but we are not the biggest fans of emails.. I just don't find anything very personal about it. I would like to think a phone person, live.. is sooo much more interactive.. So hard to read tone and all of the things that are really important, these are lost via email.

I just find so much more can be accomplished by a quick phone call on both ends for the client and the SP.

Now day we are also leery about responding to emails as its easy to get IP addresses and we like to keep that to a minimum.

Again it also cuts down in the cut and paste emails you get alot of as well, many guys dont realize its an agency they are dealing with as they never bother to notice its the same phone number in some of our online advertizing. WE get the same email sometimes 6 times. :prout:

We are really not big on Txting. Most of the time my phone is forwarded to my receptionist, and all of our appts are done via phone call.

Most, not all Txts are tire kickers that end up being a waste of time. If it is a regular client, that we know we can make exceptions.. But as a rule if someone txts we just tell them to call when they have time.

I think if it was going to work, there has to be some kind of proper agreement. But the barter system in general has some serious advantages. Your dollar tommorow could be worth less.. but your service wont be and neither would his.

In a bad economy this could be a very good solution and it cuts alot of inflation out of the equation.

Here's something to think about.. an ounce of gold today will buy you the same thing it could 2000 years ago. But a dollar today comepared to 20 years ago.. not so much.. which is why..

Goods and physical things including service have true value.. Money can never be guaranteed in value.

You would probably benefit more because this is possibly a client that you would normally not see due to a financial situation.. You still end up ahead and get the work you needed done. **

Again, Not sure how other agencies work, but if you are being represented.. As an agency really should be doing, as opposed to employing.. Then really you CAN pick your days off, so effectively you are in control.

As far as being incharge of advertising costs and airtime and all of the incidentals, they really add up.

When a lady works with a proper agency, those costs are taken out of the equation for her. Yes the agency fee is there, but when you figure out what really comes in after expenses a very large part of that fee goes back into the business.. in things like photoshoots and extra advertizing specific to the ladies.. A BP ad is 7 dollars.. how many ads do you think it takes per lady per day to keep her ad current? about 6-8.. per lady. (toronto).

Of course, any business exists to make a profit.. But the reality is its not a free ride for agencies either.

Another thing that comes into play is time. Time is important, especially time away from the business. Being independant.. You often have to be saturated in the business alot of the day.. An agency lady gives schedule, and that is the end of her responisbility until she books on.. Huge difference.. So that is also a big part of what freedom is all about, isnt it?

Reason I am bringing all of these things up, is many members and clients don't really see all of these sides to the equation when they decide whether to see an Indy or Agency lady. I just want to separate some fact from fiction.

This topic pops up often and usually contains alot of facts, but often alot of fiction too.

For example it is a fact that when a lady works with or for an agency, she pays an agency fee. However as any good Indy knows there are alot of costs involved in running her personal business.. Advertizing is not free, airtime is not free. But one of the biggest things most clients don't really understand, and many ladies come to realize quickly is the business is not always a constant flow. In fact it often comes in pockets of business. And when the phone rings it rings.. sometimes off the hook, and sometimes you have to check it to see if it even works..lol.. and that is just the way it is..

If you are an indy, on your own.. its pretty hard to be with a client and book your calls.. and often a caller will just continue on to the next ad till he finds someone who is free. Obviously not all the time, but often this is the case. So a lost opportunity, or a few opportunities ends up being a huge financial factor long term.. Especially if the client finds someone they enjoy and never calls back.

Another fact, most ladies that work with or for Agencies do so out of free will.. And the vast majority were an indy at one time or another. This isn't Thailand folks, if ladies aren't happy somewhere they move on.. End of story.. Sometimes its the agency, sometimes its the lady.. it happens alot and will always be the case in this very emotionally charged environment.

So when you go to the Doctors office, most of the time you have to go through a secretary.. And when you go to your accountants office, they have a secretary... So as a Professional Sexworker, why wouldnt have someone to help with some of the legwork? For many ladies, it makes things more efficient for them, ends up being more profitable long term and alot safer as a whole.

And all of this isnt even counting in alot of ladies that appear to be independant, but actually have security and a phone person who is a "friend" answering the phone. So at the end of the day, how "Indy" are they really? Alot of it is symantics.. And that is also a fact..

One thing that I really want to clarify, I don't believe in writing recos out of guilt because the lady asked you to, and if the reco was undeserved.. Not at all... However..

In the interest in keeping a the board current as well as keeping the lady's name in demand in order to keep her business fruitful then it is really something that should be a priority.

My view is this, Cerb is a great resource for clients to find what they are looking for for. And its a great place for ladies to advertize and meet clients. And it is absolutely free to use this resource for the guys. So I think it is the VERY least they can do is (if deserved of course) write a reco if they were happy. I just read a post today that bugged me about a lady we represent.. The post wrote how he "selfishly kept her to himself". How retarded is that? How many ladies could and would survive in the industry if guys didnt pay it forward and let other ppl know? Its not selfish, its extremely short sighted.

This board is such a safe place for ppl to express how they feel, it is completely anonymous.. So why not? Really?

The other boards tend to have a much more toxic environment, and have a much lower level of activity and participation. But with CERB this isnt the case.. Share your experiences and EVERYONE benefits! :)

Something that has to be made clear about the agency thing is this... At least in our case.. and I am sure many others.. When a lady joins an agency, it is her CHOICE to do so.

For many reasons. We have had tonnes of indies come to work with us, and many of them have said at the end of the day when factoring the advertising costs, the headache of screening, booking and organizing things and most of all the lost opportunites (missed bookings when with a client) they had as an indy, they ended up way ahead.

Here's another thing, and its unfortunate, but there are some (thank goodness few) ladies that sometimes complain about the agency they are working with, to manipulate clients into giving them extra money because they feel sorry for them. It is a game, and these ladies don't last..

I'm really glad this thread has was written. I can say from my experience in this industry, nothing says thank you better than a well deserved Recommendation. It encourages ladies as it isnt always the easiest business to be in.

I have read posts in the past about some members not posting reviews because they "wanted to keep her a secret", the problem is so many members wait for reviews before seeing a lady. If everyone had that mentality there would be no reviews and the board would suck. Thank goodness this isnt the case. So I can see the ladies side to sometimes nudge clients to review them when they have given really good service.

By giving them a Reco, it is best tip you can ever give a lady. It keeps them current and relivant on the board and lets other members know she is great. Sometimes this can be the difference between some great lady being discovered and thrive in the industry or getting discouraged and fizzling out because of a slow start. I know many ladies that come into the industry and its on their last dime and its a do or die situation, and I have seen countless amazing ladies that could have been the next big superstar leave based on discouragement.

So really when you think about it; it's in you the clients best interest to recommend to keep the selection of ladies higher, and to keep the ladies in the industry morale higher.. Happy SPs + Happy clients = Stronger industry, better overall environment

I agree Brio rocks!!.. I had it a few years ago and really enjoy it with Pizza.. I know pizza pizza carries it.. and some grocery stores.. They actually have a lemon and orange one and they are all really good. The italians got it right..

Quick note.. Pepsi just came out with the retro "throwback" version in the original can design with real sugar and it does taste better for sure.

I really know that aspartame is bad, and it's hard to quit the cola (borderline addict for sure)

I used to drink the regular pepsi.. (like 6 cans a day!!) and when I quit I dropped 23 lbs.. so it really is alot of empty calories..
