All about context - acronyms

There is a short form I have never liked - BBW.

 

To me it seemed like a lie, I had always heard it used to mean big boned women.

 

Well I don't like it for two reasons: To me that puts a negative or at best extremely unpersonal touch on a self-description.

 

And second: it's a lie. Barring actual medical conditions or physically being taller or shorter... your skeleton is pretty much the same size as someone of equivalent stature.

 

So anyways a friend of mine and I were having a conversation about the industry and he enlightened me with a new (and far more accurate) meaning. Big Beautiful Woman.

 

Needless to say I no longer despise the term "BBW".

 

Any other fun acronym misunderstandings out there?

It's a double edged sword.

 

I like large women. Eg amazon 5"10" or taller curvy but with a flat stomach. I guess this is what the hipsters call "thick"

 

Most using the BBW acronym are what would medically be described as class 3 or 4 morbidly obese.

Not an acronym - more of a double entendre but I kind of get a sly chuckle out of beauty salons/spas offering specials on "facials".

 

Before I'm reminded yes, I know I need to grow up.
