Does anyone have any recommendations for a small, friendly romantic restaurant in the Market area? I've looked at Vittoria Trattoria and it looks nice.

If you want super cosy, Must (right next door) has a very intimate table for two in the window and the food is outstanding!

Play is an excellent restaurant on the corner of York and Sussex ... Absolutely superb wine list and the food is styled like a "tapas" restaurant (ie. may small portions to share with your friend) ... the owner of this restaurant also owns Beckta which is in the top 5 of the best restaurants in Ottawa....highly recommended. What time shall I make our reservations for <grin>?

Vittoria Trattoria is pretty nice. The only bad thing about it I found though is that the tables are really really close to each other in such a small space. So it can feel a little intrusive.

 

If you don't mind going to Elgin, one place I really like is Oz. It's a small restaurant as well, that is an upscale(not too much tho!) restaurant, and the tables aren't cluttered as much, and you get your privacy as well. Plus, they have a pretty good wine list, and the food is A+

I've been to Must wine bar a few times in the market and it is quite cozy with a great selection if wine and food.
