Need New Hard Drive

Recommended Posts

Well... I am probably THE most cursed person with computers...

My HP laptop's hard drive decided to up and quit on me. :-(

Does anyone know of a good place to get this fixed? Preferably downtown since I pass through a few times a day as I'm going hither and tither.

Thanks!

It's easy enough to buy a new one and replace the old one. You may be able to recover any files you want from the old one.

Go to FutureShop or BestBuy. Laptop hard drives are around $80 to $100 and they carry them. I'd suggest getting them to install it as they will also need to re-install whatever operating system you have (usually Windows). They'll probably need your Windows setup disk from when you first got your laptop. Alternatively you may want to find a friend to do the installation.

Good luck

Awesome, thanks, guys! I do not have the CD here (incall), but maybe it's at home. Worst-case scenario I'm sure they'll be able to install Windows somehow. I can't be the first person to lose the disc!

Mucho gracias again! You guys rock! :-D

And just another quick thought, the price of laptops around $500.00 now, may be just as easy to buy a new computer. Just need someone trustworthy if you need to transfer files from your old cpu to new cpu/computer

Whatever you decide, good luck
