A message for SP's and hobbyist alike.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

It's about 6pm and I'm going to work soon. I wanted to share something with everyone, something that some people might be aware of (more than some, I hope). I have been talking to some SP's (older than myself - and wiser to some extent) and I found that their knowledge of STDs was not very comprehensive.

I want to talk about these misconceptions about STDs to further protect all individuals involved in escorting - whether they're the hobbyist or the escort. Now I'm sure a lot of you know MORE than me, so I'd like everyone to share. The more a group or collective discuss a problem, the easier it is to eradicate said problem.

OK. Let's get to the point.

1. You can get herpes if they are no sores present!

"Remember: you can pass the virus to your partners even when you do not have symptoms"

http://www.health.state.ny.us/diseases/communicable/std/herpes.htm

2. You can pass HIV through oral sex, they are microscopic abraisions present in the mouth, where the virus can pass through (!). Vaginal fluid and semen (including pre-come) contain the virus of an HIV+ person.

3. HIV can be 100% asymptomatic. Most people don't even know they have it (I wish I remembered where I read this.)

So my point is, BE CAREFUL:!:

The clinic on Clearance has a lot of great help and information about this stuff, as a hobbyists I go there at least once every three months but I think SP's should go every month, they do throat swabs as well as vaginal swabs so it is not a bad idea to get both, however the transmission of things Orally is extremely rare. The overall numbers for most STD's are very low, they have statistics if you are that kind of person. I do find some of the information can be presented in a preachy kind of way if you get the wrong person. Also worth noting if you go see them and tell them that you see more than one person a year than you qualify for free Hep a,b vaccines! That is cool :) Just had a booster today :) it takes three rounds over 6 months to get the full dose, however if you are planning to travel a lot of countries need these shots and they are usually purchased out your own pocket, so for that alone it is a great value, plus the fact that you are reducing your chances at hep B a very nasty thing indeed!!

The sad part is it's not as rare as it use to be as so many people are taking part in unprotected oral sex.

HIV through oral is also becoming less rare which is why some countries like Australia and Germany are now enforcing mandatory condom laws for escorts. (Dental dams must also always be used.)

Getting tested every month is a good idea, regular testing is key as some things (like HIV) may not show up when first contracted... and as Suri said, can be completely asymptomatic.

There were tons of discussion and poll about STD in the past.

Glad to know that some of the SPs aware of STD.

The Question is - Will a SP stop her business or tell her client she got something?

Same thing, lots of hobbyist always think they are clean and never get tested.

Low risk doesn't mean no risk. We need protection other than condom (I know it is less fun)

answer to question...YES. if we as an SP want to sleep through the night after that, that is. I have never been faced with this situation but I know i would feel morally responsible for keeping this info from someone...especially if they run the risk of ruining their lives, their family's lives etc.

I had a client contact me this year that after going for his quarterly check-up had been tested positive for an STi. I was contacted by the health clinic and had to come in by law and provide all my info and get treatment right away (which consisted of a couple of pills) despite, after testing that day, being told my preliminaries came back negative.

to be absolutely sure however, the clinic said I was to not have any sexual contact for a week. I pulled my ads and took the week off while other partners of his went on the preliminary results and went back to work. I know myself that I would not have been able to sleep at night if there was even the slightest chance that I could pass on something that preliminaries didnt catch......fortunately I was clean after all was said and done.

I have friends outside work who dont know what I do and raise an eyebrow to frequent visits to the clinic...."didnt you just go a couple months ago?". I had a recent fling who said he hadn't been tested in THREE YEARS!...needless to say, that didnt last long. if you're having sex with anyone, you should go.....because if something happens, how on earth are you going to retrace your steps??

getting tested often is key as an SP and hobbiest. Being honest is sometimes hard but in a day and age where you can be sued for omiting such information to a partner, its always better safe than sorry

Also, for those who have any anal contacts (digits, DATO, frottage, Greek etc), there is an anal swab. I know SPs who have all three swabs done at each regular check-up even if their anal contact is minimal and external only.

The reality is that some SP's and hobbyists are not as mature as Annessa and her client, or they don't get checked because they are "fine". Some of you reading this are that person that does not know were the clinic is or has only been there once and it was over a year ago. That is why we owe it to ourselves to get checked regularly. I have some kind of horse shoe up my a__ as I have never had any issues but I know several people that have, it is not an alarming amount and I can probably still count on my hands the total number of people that I know that have had an std.

Also STD's and STI's are called that because they are sexually transmitted, they do not transmit easily through other means of contact. H1N1 is a virus that is an extremely aggressive virus that does not need sexual intercoruse to pass, If you get this (I know an extreme example) or a more common simple virus than you cannot say for sure it came from sex, however if you were kissing an SP with a nasty throat infection coming on that is probably the source. Part of the issue here is the STD/STI that you get from obvious sexual intercourse can be very difficult if you take it home to a family. I am not saying it is OK to take home a nasty throat infection but if you do it will probably not end the marriage.

Having said that the traditional STD/STI are predominantly passed on with unprotected sex. If there were a variety of ways to pass them on they would be common viruses not STD/STI's. Of course it would be a great alibi if this stuff actually did "live in toilet seats"

I just wanted to throw out some links for folks who may not have experience/knowledge with the resources available in Ottawa (please add on!):

Sexual Health Clinic - at Clarence and Cumberland, walk-ins and appointments available, and they also have free condoms!

Planned Parenthood (I've linked to their STI information page) offers counselling/education and referral to resources.

City of Ottawa Public Health - links/information for walk-in clinics, resources, and a listing of health and support centres [i.e., Centretown Community Health Centre offers anonymous HIV testing weekdays from 1-4pm; having worked with them, I can say their staff and counselling services are excellent and non-judgemental].

City of Ottawa listings for anonymous HIV testing clinics.

Ontario 1-800-HIV/AIDS information, counselling and safer sex information line: 1-800-668-2437

Great topic, Suri.

Here is a link to a Risk Chart for a San Fran clinic..basically breaks down risks with each activity..found this on a western board......

http://www.sfcityclinic.org/stdbasics/stdchart.asp

I'm assuming that these "Risks" are based on unprotected sex when talking about all, oral, vaginal and anal......

stay safe boys and girls!

1. Considering the # of people who rarely if ever get tested, I cannot quite see that being able to count on one hand the # of people you know that have not ever had an STD lol A whopping 30% of teenagers have contracted an std thru sexual contact. These are the ones with symptoms or with symptoms who got tested. Who knows what the real #s are. It is hard to believe the number of people you know who have or had one is so very low.

2. As we all know now, thanks to Bill Clinton, "sex" is not just intercourse. Unprotected sex does not just mean bbfs, but also includes bbbjs. The risk is not negligible with bbbjs for the receiver (usually female, usually the sp) and should be taken into consideration when an sp does not offer bbbjs, she should be applauded not avoided, imo.

3. HIV and herpes are only 2 sexually transmitted diseases. There are many more, each of them easy to get, pass on, and keep for years if you do not get tested. Google syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, just for fun. Guaranteed, chlamydia in the throat is not a joke. :bjs::bjs:

I love bbbj and unprotected sex. But I have no choice, I need protection. I even only do cbj with SP and some other girls. I met one SP. She didn't like cdj and only did it less than one minute and stopped.

Regarding your post friends4fun......some food for thought although it seems you are playing safe..good for you!

I've heard "rumors" of SP's offering BBFS, but in my opinion IF a girl offers you BBFS...RUN DON'T WALK OUTTA THERE! BBFS is something that should be reserved for people in relationships that do not stray.....One way to think about BBFS, is that by engaging in this high risk activity you are basically sleeping with everyone the girl in question has....scary huh?

As far as you enjoying BBBJ but preffering CBJ, that is the great thing about this hobby..YOU choose what you want to participate in....Even if aa SP you want to see normally offers BBBJ, just ask her to put a cap on....bring her some yummy chocolate flavoured ones..you'll have to pry her off your cock

I find this disturbing yet I am not surprised by it, however. This is such an important aspect of the business/hobby and I'm glad you surfaced the lack of awareness by some of your peers. They need to spend more time educating themselves obviously and I hope they do so before it's too late. Good thread and commentary/links by all.

I have been talking to some SP's (older than myself - and wiser to some extent) and I found that their knowledge of STDs was not very comprehensive.

How many people do you know? It is an interesting question, I have been more sexually active than most and I have had "the call" three times in my life. The one were someone contacts you to say BTW I have an STD you should probably get yourself checked out. DO other people get these calls more often?

Also i know a few people that have had STD's and got them looked after, again probably about 6 or 7 now it is not a topic that comes up very often but when it does come up it is usually the same story.

I do know that the health people in Ottawa gets about 140-150 cases of Clamydia a year reported and about the same for Ghoneria, syphilis is a dinosaur at least around here. Next time I am in the clinic I will ask them how many times they have found a throat swab return a positive result.

Am I some kind of loon are other people get "the call" more frequently than I am??

In my eyes. If I passed on something to someone. That I could have prevented. OMG, I just could not live with myself. There is so many clinics in Ottawa, and Quebec. Why not take a day out of your life. The first couple of times. I was so scared. But it is mandatory.

I like the bunny ranch out in Navada. They take tests once a week. That is one of the reasons why they should legalize, this industry. It would be a much cleaner and happier place.

We as Hobbyists and SP's all have to accept that this is a risk we take on so long as we engage in this hobby. We will never reduce the risk to zero but there are ways to minimize it and they have been discussed in great length.

In the end each has to decide what risk they consider acceptable and then use common sense and get tested.

My 2 brothers ride motorcycles. I think they're crazy. I gave that up when I was 22 because I saw one too many of my friends killed or maimed, had one too many close calls myself.

Last year one brother hit a deer (survived kind of a miracle actually) 2 weeks ago my other brother 's best friend and riding partner was killed in a horrible bike accident with a tractor trailer.

I'll take these risks any day over motor cycles where you have no control over what the other "idiots" on the road are going to do, and where the consequences are all too often disability or death.

I think so long as we stick to reputable SP's and use protection we are also much safer than those who cruise the local bars and meat markets looking for a one nighter.

i completely agree. and really everyone its a day out of your month to and get tested. to me thats nothing compared to the time it takes to trace back your sexual history and the anguish of having to admit to someone you may have given them an STD.

I talk openly about going to get tested and all my non hobbiest/SP friends all have the most ridiculous excuses not to go...

"I always have to wait all day at that clinic...I cant book that kinda time off work"

"That penile swab/cold instrument opening my canal hurts...I hate getting it done"

"last time I went I bumped into someone I knew, it was so embarrassing"

and so on...

seriously its one day out of your life and the above excuses always seem pretty dumb when compared to the phrase" so you'd rather potentially have an STD?"

ok I will throw this out. Maybe in Ottawa the SP's should have a recent report to show they have been checked before we start our transaction. Have it up front where we dont even have to ask to see it.

Swab testing usually can be completed and analyzed while you're at the clinic. Blood test results can take a few days to a few weeks to get back. People can unknowingly become infected within hours (or minutes) of testing samples being taken. A negative test report is only accurate up to the minute the samples were taken.

So, while testing is good and seeing test results at least reassures you that individuals are going for tests, it's no absolute guarantee.

Also, maybe SPs should only see clients who can produce a recent official STD/STI test report which shows you to be disease-free. I mean, the responsibility works both way, right?

You can see how practically, in either case, this might be not be feasible for every SP and every client. Nice ideal though.

In an more ideal world all of this would be regulated by a governing body, both clients and providers would be registered in a database and be required to keep their status up to date in order to access or provide service. The database would be governed by a non profit non Political body and it would be encrypted to ensure safety and integrity.

We also would have either flying cars or transporters to get us for place to place, as we would no longer have religion, there would be no more wars.

Nice place huh! Dream on!

In the porn business at least in California the "actors" must have clean test results no older than 90 days. This seems to keep issues to a minimum.

flying cars, lol....sigh

having documentation of a good checkup is no sure fire way to prove you're clean. As YS said it unfortunately all comes down to trust....and taking precautions.

I have had clients come to me asking if they can receive bareback service if I show them their papers proving that they're clean. It never flies and I sometimes feel like shaking these individuals and telling them that they are taking huge risks and putting others at risk by being so misinformed. That and how do I know what activities they've engaged in since getting tested?
