Glad I Live In Canada

Enclosed is a link to a story about an Alberta MP that got charged for seeing an escort when he was in the U.S. If this isn't entrapment then I don't know what is. If this happened here in Canada, the lovely ladies on CERB would be out of business.

I think there are many more pressing issues that the States should be focusing on then going after guys who want to spend some time with an escort.

Well irrespective of whether you agree or disagree about prostitution being legal, in the United States where he was, it is illegal and criminal. We expect people from other countries, especially politicians when they come to Canada to respect our laws, it isn't unreasonable for the United States to expect citizens, especially politicians from other countries, including Canada to respect their laws.

Sorry, no sympathy. What this guy should have done is have an encounter with a lady from CERB in Canada where it is legal to do so

Not to mention it is pretty common knowledge that prostitution is for the most part illegal in the United States. Whether you agree with the police's methods or not, my guess their tactics are within the law

And do you really want a politician representing you and Canada (and Alberta) who is dumb enough to get caught trying to illegally have sex with an escort

My morning rambling

The risks of getting caught in the states are well known, and I really can't sympathize with this guy. As a politician, his reputation is one of greatest assets, and he should have been more careful. I don't hobby when I'm down there simply for the reason that I can't afford to be denied entry at the border which is one of the consequences of being caught.. If you are going to use these services do you research ahead of time, and I'm sure that there are reliable SP's here that would give you a recommendation and a reference.

I've traveled to the USA and had encounters very safely. This MP called up a so called SP on a "online site" as they say which could of been BP or CL who knows, his error in judgement and not very brilliant on his part.

Ladies (VIP) down south use more professional sites of advertising or screening it is for their protection and safety. I choose to pay the higher scale to see VIP ladies when I travel to the USA not from a online site like BP or CL.

It takes common sense, well thought out planning before traveling to participate with an SP in the USA. I keep in touch with a few of them weekly now :) it's all good ;)

I wonder, as a member of Alberta's Conservative party, what his public views have been on the legality of prostitution or his stand on "family values." Does he have any thoughts on the record? I suspect the hypocrisy level might be quite high.

the site he used was BP

So a dumb conservative after all

I'm beginning to like the Liberals more and more LOL

Seriously though, didn't a warning flag go off, $200 for two women for an hour

Did he pay for the limo out of Government (taxpayer's) funds or his own money

And forget everything else, one key aspect of this lifestyle is discretion. Did he not care enough about his family to be discrete. Not arguing about fidelity, everyone's marriage/family situation is private and personal. But even if in a bad marriage, there is no need to publically humiliate your wife and kids, and that is what this MLA did

I'm sorry but I just have to say this what is so different between this guy and you guys?? because he got caught?? he didn't deny it he was open about it he admitted he did something wrong now would you do that in the same situation I don't get it just because he's a public figure? I understand he was out of his territory and he didn't know the laws and what not but it's no different than anybody else he just he got caught.... we should be so lucky that entrapment is illegal in Canada otherwise we would hear about this everyday lol I just don't like when somebody says that this guy had a lack of respect for his wife and kids because he didn't he was just doing what other guys do everyday so for you to turn around and say that he had a lack of respect for his wife and kids is like saying that so do you...

The difference is this

First in Canada seeing an escort is legal

In the United States it is for the most part illegal and criminal

And saying he doesn't know the laws, most people in Canada believe even in Canada prostitution is illegal, and know for the most part it is illegal in the United States (hell just watch Law and OrderSVU)

So if seeing a companion in the US, see a professional, first clue is they would require verification

His clue that the advertised ladies weren't professional, $200/hour for two ladies, old maxim, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Second, discretion, key in this lifestyle. He was indiscrete and got caught

Forget the legal aspects, that indiscretion publically embarrassed his wife and kids. Irrespective of the intimate details of their relationship, there is no need for him to hurt and embarrass his wife and kids.

As for not knowing, there is a wonderful tool out their called Google which you can use to begin your search about escorts (it's how I discovered the truth and learned about this lifestyle, it directed me to CERB) and learn amongst other things the legalities, discretion etc

Finally no one, OK me, is judging him for wanting to see an escort, they are judging a public figure for being so publically indiscrete and embarrassing and hurting his family, not to mention breaking the laws of a foreign country when at least discreetly hiring a professional companion would keep this private

Not to mention being a Conservative MLA which places family values as a cornerstone, and has a law and order platform, how does seeing a escort fit in with that, and doesn't that make him somewhat of a hypocrite

Well at least that's my take on it

You make some very good points Kennidi. My biggest concern is that he was representing Canada in another country, and whether we agree with the law or not, he broke that country's laws. Second, and this is only a personal assumption, but I suspect, given his party affiliation, he probably has stated some views that are very contrary to his actions. It would be like a public figure who is very anti-drug getting caught with a bag of marijuana. A harmless, victimless crime, but when you're elected because of your views on controlled substances . . .

And for a public figure doing something illegal in another country, he demonstrated an alarming lack of common sense about it. As its been stated previously, there were much safer and much more discrete methods of seeking what he was looking for. He apparently didn't make this decision with the head on his shoulders. Having that kind of rash judgement present in someone who votes on laws and makes decisions spending tax dollars should be reason or concern.

Another story

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/07/17/mike-allen-prostitution-charges_n_3611917.html

Story states in part while he was President of the local Chamber Of Commerce he wanted the police to crack down on prostitution

Also sounds like he is separated/divorced, so why not legally and discreetly see a companion in Canada

It really doesn't matter what PARTY the individual represents, it is simply because they are a figure head and get more publicity than any other individual that is not in the lime light. Just look at latest Mayor of Montreal (LAVAL),in the lime light for soliciting/with a lady. The issue at hand is that when visiting the USA as I said earlier, you need to do your homework before you travel, its not about where you want to visit a lady may it be the USA or Canada, you have to use due diligence as these public figure heads are using their WRONG head to play.

5-conservatives always harp on 'morals'.... (hypocrisy)
