facial recognition in the States/travelling to the States as a SP

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm still pretty new at this and came across a thread mentioning the facial recognition in the States.I travel a lot but haven't been into the States since I became a SP.I have plans to go to Florida for grandparents 80th bday in December.I will be flying with family members(who have no idea I do this/it would kill them to discover that)So having emailed a dozen or so guys on here photos of myself without having blurred my face in these photos I am really worried now that I could be denied entry as I know the airports I've been to on Florida/most of the States are pretty strict.Anyone have any knowledge/experiance reguarding this and could share it,it would be deeply appreciaated.Thank you!

I'm no expert on the matter, but if you don't have a criminal record and have no association with known terrorist groups, you should be fine.

Don't worry about it. I've realized that the general public overestimates the ability of these guards. Keep in mind their main priority is to stop external threats from entering the country, foreigners sneaking in for the purposes of working without a visa, smuggling, trafficking, and those who have a criminal record.

You have a little extra booze that you didn't declare - might get you in a little trouble, but not to the extent that we imagine.

An example I can tell you is that till just very recently, the two countries, US and Canada did not have a record when it's citizens left the country for the other. I accidentally found out when I was out for a week, came back with a few $100s worth of shopping, and the guard asked me to prove I was gone. I told him to check the computer, it would tell him, and he sheepishly revealed that they do not have the information.

Facial recognition is far from an exact science, and even if you did provide a crystal clear image of your face, you're frankly not worth the hassle of tracking online and putting on a watch list.

Just don't carry a bunch of condoms, dildos, and sexy lingerie, the Americans don't like that.

You should know that facial recognition is being used, and can be used against you. However, since you are not putting face pics in your actual ads, they won't have any of your ads show up when they try to match it against your passport photo (or if they are snapping a pic of you when you are in line, which is actually more likely).

I think it might be more likely to happen if you are driving across the border, because I think they have more time, and you haven't actually crossed in or flown a plane at that point, so getting you turned around isn't as much trouble as if you just arrived by plane. It is also important you have an itinerary, a clear itemized sheet of where you are from, where you are going, your return flight, where you are staying, why you are staying there, etc.

I will state the obvious: NEVER SEND YOUR FACE PICS TO ANYONE EVER. If you aren't using them in your ad, don't succumb to the pressure of some random idiot emailing you and trying to make you send something you aren't using online. It only leads to trouble, and could get you in trouble. You have no idea who or what you are sending those face pics to, so tell whoever is pushing you to give them to you, that you prefer to remain discreet, and that you would prefer not to have someone make this an excuse to book an appt with you, when the majority of clients don't make this a condition of booking. Book it or don't, no face pics will be sent. bleh

it will be easier for you because you are not traveling alone, you will be with family and going to a family member's location. In this situation, I would not be overly concerned about them running facial recognition programs. But it is now something sps who use face pics should be aware of, they are checking now.

I don't agree with you on this.

Flying to USA, you actually go through an American-controlled security check before you even get on the airplane.

Also, I don't think they care about inconveniencing people who they perceive as a threat. It doesn't matter if you've already landed in one of their airports. If they think you are a threat, they will go through the trouble of getting you to go somewhere else.

I don't think you have to worry, you obviously will be asked a few questions by the US border agent. If you answer honestly and without hesitating it's pretty painless. As suggested don't pack the tools of the trade although you shouldn't be searched unless you give him reason when he does the interview.

As mentioned both the US and Canada don't conduct exit interviews, but I think there is entry data going back and forth between the two countries so that one of these days the two data bases will merge and they will have the information about both your entry and exit.

The only thing to worry about is if you have a criminal record. CBP (Customs and Border Protection) and Homeland Security can deny access to the U.S. to anyone who has a criminal record, whether it is in the U.S. or abroad. It doesn't matter how you enter the U.S. (e.g. car, plane, boat, your own feet), they can still "turn you back". Many Canadian airports have U.S. custom agents to screen passengers before even boarding the plane, which is less of a strain to deal with if you get denied entry.

Therefore, it's not so much the facial recognition as it the name that is on your passport.

The government has more important things to deal with then looking through online adds for escorts, downloading photos and adding them to their database.

Unless you have a criminal record I am fairly certain that you have nothing to worry about. I know some people that know some people that do far worse than listen to lonely business men and have never had any issues. As long as you are not trying to bring contraband ( i.e narcotics ) and have no criminal record into their country they aren't going to bother you. Just because they have facial recognition software doesn't mean much unless you give them a reason or act nervous around them when they question you. As far as what you do for an occupation you may need to practice that one ;)
