Mods Contributions

Recommended Posts

Thanks, many of you do appreciate this and many have PM'd me as well so I want to thank everyone who took the time to let me know that my efforts are appreciated.

I think I have some tough choices to make come the new year but for now I need a break from the site.

One of the other staff here is going to watch over the site for a few months (At least till the new year) so I can get some other projects done and most importantly so I can enjoy my free time once again.

We will see how I feel when I come back in regards to the contributions and this will let us see how the site does without my contributions for a few months as well. (Trial period).

These days it's really just easier to click the ban button then to invest the time to try to be all diplomatic as that does not ever seam to pan out. I try to be nice and diplomatic and I end up at the same outcome 99.9% of the time.

I will of course check in and help whoever is going to moderate the site in the upcoming months if they need my help. The person (or persons) who will be doing this has not been determined yet - hopefully later in the week we will have a plan for this.

I agree!

The things I find about these threads are that people are now trying to compete to be the top threads, member of the month, SP of the month or whatever nominations we now have! Therefore people are trying harder to have a word of enlightenment and are not getting there point across clearly.

We are all fortunate that there is someone like The MOD, to keep this site going. I for one was happy to see MOD have his input in some of the threads. Make him seem more like a human being and not just some guy that lives in his mother?s basement.

I have had my share of tiffs on this site with people and I realized that now people have taken the fun out of the threads. Yes it is nice to be noticed, appreciated and nominated, but it has gotten to the point where I would prefer to just look at the pictures, jokes and advertisements. I have chosen to stop participating in the threads as I peoples were giving me hell for my opinion.

Maybe it is the new added competition to be the top poster or the thread of the month is taking the fun out of posting threads, but I don?t find it fun anymore. RELAX! This is a FUN review board only.

MOD it would be a dam shame if you quit participating because of a miss worded post or a difference of opinions. I think it?s great to know what your thoughts are!

Thanks for your efforts and contributions mod. It is a thankless role that's taken for granted - that unfortunately is the nature of the beast. It requires dedication, perseverance, patience, knowledge (both in and out of the 'industry') and passion.

Thank you for all that you have done, for making the site fun, keeping the peace and imparting knowledge.

Thanks MOD!

I echo the sentiments as well although some may claim I jumped on mod, I explained and properly appologized for the situation being taken the wrong way and for it to lead to others putting down his role in the community....totally not my intention and I feel more than a little rough it had that outcome :-(

Mod has been a great voice here. like many who are great at any job they do however, the time comes for a vacation...a break from the stress. Mod has a lot to deal with on this site so I dont think we should interpret his time away as a good-bye or abandonment from Cerb...obviously hes not going to leave us in improper hands if someone else were to help him with his duties. but sometimes a breath of fresh air is required sometimes

As an SP I've taken a break now and then from the industry for a week or so so that i can return with a fresh outlook, I may also follow mods lead in being less vocal or properly wording myself more carefully before posting so that no-ones feelings are spared in the process

we look forward to when mod feels the time is right to return to providing us with his imput, but I'm sure he will not be far, lets just all stop tugging in his sleeve for now and allow him to do what he feels is best.

as a sidenote I dont think its fair to say that ppl are ore vocal now due to trying to win over the majority for awards, anyone who has a sense of everyone's post history and personality thus far will definitely see through an alterior motive like that, we hope anyway.

Good point Annessa, and I highly doubt people go out of their way in pursuit of an award. And if they do, it would be quite transparent. Then again, John Q Public has proved in all sorts of elections that an empty shell with a silver tongue can bullshit their way in to win ;) Not the case here though, especially for you since it looks like you're going to take the prize and deservedly so!

We should also remember that Mod pays for all this. And not only to promote Escorts-Canada and his other escort ad sites and ventures. Which he's been upfront about from the start.

But because he really believes those who participate in this lifestyle, no matter to what degree, deserve a place to meet, discuss, have fun, exchange ideas and further their participation on-line.

He could have achieved his promotional goals with little or no active involvement from himself. But he chose to have a very engaged and on-going commitment to the site which, I think, has ensured not only its continued existence but its continued growth as well. Because he has ensured it remains a civil place for like-mined people to meet and talk on the Web.

Keeping it civil and cool and fun and SP friendly while herding the fairly large number of self-indulgent cats (which include most of the high posters like me), and at the same time still being fair to them and to his own ideals and standards hasn't been easy, for sure.

So I applaud him particularly for that.

self indulgent "cats"'s herding should not be seen as high posters IMO. quality over quantity in this site I would hope? regardless of the ratio of posts a member has, one would expect that a member doesn't post to hear themselves talk...errr.....write?

Lets all take this past week as a learning experience that no matter what is seen, heard or read, (or what is even resulted in a poll) that a diplomatic point of view is never an unjust ideal....if approached properly. If we all see ourselves or others (high posters) as "self indulgent "cats".......then our contributions are already being not as post-before-quality...by even those participating like YS mentioned

lets not read too much into everyone's postings, and let hope that everyone contributing is doing so for the right reasons, after all, the votes are in and i certainy am not writting at this moment to read and re-read my responses. (aka hear myself talk)

Just a brief clarification.

I didn’t mean that people who posted a lot were self-indulgent. They may or may not be. I don’t know and I don’t really care. I do think the vast majority of posters here in general are trying to be helpful, informative or entertaining and often succeed at all three in a single post.

I was referring to an observation which I’ve made over a period of almost four years hanging around here (counting my guest lurking and my member participation time) that a number of the “problem children” that Mod has had to deal with (since this thread is about him) over the years, seem, just as often to be long-term heavy posters as newbies who make rookie mistakes.

As the long-term heavy posters who from time-to-time butt heads with Mod don’t have the rookie excuse, I view their behaviour as self-indulgent. Certainly, to be honest with myself, when I’ve pushed the limits around here and crossed a Mod line or two, I’ve basically been self-indulgent ("let’s see what we can get away with, since we are familiar with the environment and think we know how the system works."). Lol.

Certainly a number, but certainly not all (as I was careful to point out my original post), long-term heavy posters seemed to have been a Mod “discipline” problem at one time or other. “I was drunk when I posted that.” (lol) “How dare you censor me!? Don’t you know I’m a major contributor?” (lol) “I was only expressing my view, I wasn’t fighting. The swear words just kind of happened.” (lol) Not exact direct quotes, just by way of example; but exculpatory statements of a similar nature have been expressed in Forums or PMs or private e-mails after a censure from Mod.

So, my point was, while those of us who participate a fair bit regularly over time may think our view is correct on any particular issue (Is that self-indulgence or self-confidence? You decide. Lol), ultimately, Mod has never varied from his principles and standards (though we may disagree personally sometimes with his interpretations) to favour a long-time regular poster over a newbie. All are treated the same.

It must be frustrating for him when long-time regular posters cause him problems. I’m sure he thinks we should know better and are just being self-indulgent. (And I don’t blame him if he feels that way. Herding cats can be tiresome after awhile, I would think. Lol.)

Which was the point I was trying to make originally.

Yes, it is much more frustrating when the long time members do it. Especially when they break the big rules.

One well know member was mad cause I would not let him post about 30.00 bj's (obvious street worker who may have set up a temporary incall type place)... I tried to explain that this just pisses off all the ladies here (who we want to have on the site). He felt that offering this information was beneficial to the site and gave him more credibility with the guys (and maybe it does with some)... but the truth is when someone comes and lowballs all the ladies here with 30.00 bj's it just turns the ladies off of the site and in the long run no one should want a 30.00 bj as you know that lady is probably working the street or doing this part time and taking money out of the pockets of the full time career ladies we have here.

Well.. this member was pissed at me for censoring him and has not posted since. I guess he felt that since he was so well liked here by the guys and such a well know member that he should be allowed to do stuff like this.

He learned the hard way I guess. I am hoping he gets over it and eventually comes back and gets involved again with the community and realizes that street prices are not welcome on a escort site like this. We need to protect the ladies that contribute here on the site and that includes not allowing cheap priced ladies undercut everyone with street level prices. It's not fair to the ladies (and I think it makes the site look cheap and classless when threads are geared towards low priced services).

I was ashamed that so many of our regular members jumped in asking for the ladies contact info. We lost about 10 of the ladies when this was posted (and trust me many of the ladies voiced their opinions about this, some demanded I remove it, some cry'd foul cause he was a well know members and many asked me why I would allow such a thing). The truth is I was away for that weekend and I came back to the site and found this HUGE thread for 30.00 bj's.

In part it was my fault as the first time a thread like this was posted it was explained that the lady was trying to get on her feet and make money for a apartment to do incalls so she did not need to work the street. I even spoke with that lady (we know her as "Eve" here on cerb). The ladies were very mad about this one as well but I explained when asked that I allowed this as she was doing this for just a short time to make enough money to get a apartment where she could work from. (I felt we were helping someone out who wanted to get off the street) to me I thought that would be ok (but it was not - I took a lot of heat over it) so I said no to any future posts like that... no more lowball discount rate focused posts.

Thankfully after about 6 months we saw some of the ladies return and start to post again but some have never returned and some were just REALLY MAD. Some recently told me how they were pissed off with me for allowing the Eve posts and when they saw I removed the last 30.00bj thread that I redeemed myself and the site. Man it's hard to please everyone! Really who wouldn't want to help someone get off the street? 30.00 bbbj's was a little excessive and Eve quickly raised her prices as well... I suspect a number of people took advantage of her situation and I think it took a while for her to realize that she did not have to lowball her rates like that.

I am sure a few of you who replied to that 30bj thread got blacklisted from some of the sp's as well because you took interest in the girl just based on price.

A lot of the ladies were VERY disgusted that someone was doing this online - even more so that a popular member was promoting this and further more that a lot of you jumped in on this thread wanting to see this person (Just based on price and nothing said about quality of services).

Street prices really has NO Place online posting with escorts... if you see posts like this on any site (or CL) you can be sure the lady is a street walker (Probably a pimp or someone trying to "help" is posting this for her).

Ladies who do this can not offer good service and still pay the bills and put some money in their own pocket for nice things... for 30.00 they would have to see 5 or more clients per hour in ratio...and you just know that no one could maintain that and be happy. Chances are the pimp is talking the 30.00 and she get's none of it.

It's just taking advantage on another persons bad situation really when you do that and I would like to say we are all above that... maybe one day.

Great post Mod,

I agree that no high-posting member should be treated any higher than another in their behavior on this site. I do remember that incident was definitely "irked" by it. I'm happy that mod took action over it. a member advertising for bottom-line prices and services among those ladies who work hard to build their reputations over their price-tags are definitely in a non-direct sense making times harder for the wonderful women on here

There are many new members that join everyday and do need to see the light when their treatment of the ladies, (if foul, and is a pattern) is not appropriate.

but I applaud mod for facing questioning about this high-posting member and putting the ladies' interests on this site first.

Hopefully this can be applied eventually to any Cerb member (high-posting member comfortable with his rep, or newbie needing to be shown that 'this isn't how we do things here") who makes the mistakes as a pattern that does not respect what this site is about.

Members who have a high standing on the boards ( as mod pointed out with said incident) should not be granted any favors if they mis-treat the ladies on the site, rip ladies off, down-play the worth of the dollar to all involved etc. As mod pointed out, whether you're a high poster or not rules are rules, and because a trust is established between the women here or the mod it does not give ANY member the right to relax and break them. correct?

That being said it does definitely send a message when a high presence member is called out by mod. Hopefully this is being applied equally to all members.

I think mod said it best when he said "It's just taking advantage on another persons bad situation really when you do that and I would like to say we are all above that... maybe one day."

I'm am in complete agreement that I hope ppl one day don't take as huge of a disadvantage of anyone's situation, or put their situation before anyone's else's on here. Granted, we all learn lessons (hopefully) in every event that crosses us unexpectedly as SPs, but for the moment lets just hope for less interference and more contributions.....as no one (mainly mod) needs the stress or conflict of an interference, but a definite nod is given when the right thing is done
