I still think, new law aside, considering how PM considers ladies such victims and exploited vulnerable people, allocating twenty million dollars is a disgrace. A lot more would be allocated to save you ladies. Hey, maybe tap into the money used for MP's and Senators travel and housing expenses...they could show they are really serious about saving ladies from this demeaning and exploitive profession.

Not to mention not a dollar, nor new hiring of police officers allocated to LE to enforce this new law. Don't expect big police raids, undercover ops etc. Police didn't make it a priority under the current law (and there were sections in the Criminal Code that could have been enforced using stings and such) They won't have resources with the new law to have undercover stings and raids, LE priorities are elsewhere.

And the new law, implications for us, really none I believe. When PM was making his speech, he kept focusing on street prostitution and street prostitution only. He wasn't talking about, nor likely even thought of escorts/courtesans

Well I'm certain that within our community the government has lost our 'confidence' (seriously I hope they never had it), and they likely don't hold the confidence of the majority of Canadians (hell, the last election showed us that) now if only there were a method to test the confidence of parliament and we could send the smarmy bastards packing.

I am hopeful that this new law will not change Law Enforcement's approach to addressing prostitution. I expect they will continue to focus on exploitation of minors, human trafficking and the actual criminal underbelly of this industry.

 

I don't see the RCMP or any other police organizations hunting down us perverted, doctors, lawyers, politicians, business men, civil servants and other law abiding tax payers because of what we choose to do with our spare time.

 

Politicians on the other hand I don't trust to be able to prioritize beyond their own self interest???? So it comes down to how strong the political will is to track us down.

 

I think it's quite sad that McKay announced this new bill the same week there was a manhunt going on to track down a sick man who murdered 3 police officers in Moncton. There are real problems in this country I don't think we even make the top 25.
