Ladies, why do you let these fellows answer your phones? I know some of you are busy and need someone to grab your calls. But I instinctively say I got the wrong number when somebody who sounds like they watched too many rap vids picks up.

And the "Yo man, you called here?" return call if I don't leave a message is unappreciated. This has become more and more common. I know customer service is getting pretty shabby everywhere, but maybe "G Money" would be better suited for a gig that didn't involve the public...

In my opinion, I highly doubt that any of the ladies on CERB conduct business in this manner. Where are you finding the ads the for the ladies that you are calling?

I have never ever had anyone answer my phone, busy or not. Being indy I would assume if ur calling and there's no answer that the lady maybe busy and to try again in a bit.......and -IMO- if there was a 'thug' answering I would think this would be one of those situations where u find him in the bathroom, or where ever, etc.

But very unprofessional...I too am curious to know where ur getting these ads & ladies # from...

Wanna be agency representatives? Boyfriends? Roommates? Pimps?

Who knows?

When I worked in Grande Prairie back in the 90s, the agency owner realized most guys preferred to speak to a female receptionist rather than the male owner. He was so cheap, he got his sister-in-law to do it. Not sure what he paid her, but she got up and quit one day and I know business when down when he took the phones back over.

From my impression, DUDES don't want to talk to DUDES.

Ther are some escort services that have men answer the phone, yes this is a turn off.

I was turned off of one agency do to his manners.

Yes I believe its a good agency, just didn't like that he spoke in g money language. as some else said

You need proper english and french to answer the phones other wise its a turn off

I love the "G money" line...awesome reference.

I'm agree, I often say no thanks when a dude answers...ruins the mood

I guess it comes down to a balance between the profit involved in micromanaging the ladies and the losses from guys who really don't want to deal with other guys on the phones.

Pimps are incredibly insecure people. They'll take any loss to stay in control. Just say no.

I have a different outlook (sort of) on this... I do agree the G-thug speak is for sure a turn off. It tells you straight up what kind of outfit you are dealing with.

But here's my angle on the situation, I often answer the phones.. especially in the mornings, (I do have a female phone person as well)..

And I have found alot of guys that dont want to speak with me, were the types of guys that we probably didnt want to deal with in the first place.

I think there is a percentage of the market,(small albeit) that only deal with ladies because they feel they have a bit of leverage over them, when a guy answers the phone there is a perception that there is someone looking over the situtation therefore less vulnerable..

For the most part, its not been much of an issue being around as long as we have been. I do try to sound professional, and try to have a good sense of humour with the clients that call.. I can try to explain things from a dudes point of view and some guys appreciate that as well.

k...if the guy was really a wannabe pimp or was actually trying to gain your business as that he would have said "lady you called"'s phone....she is unavailable to anser...may i pass along a request"

in a perfect world however.....these wannabe pimps dont know what the hell they're into and intimidating a potential client loking like "the man in charge" will do them more harm than good...and is definitely a bad warning sign as to the respect they have for their customers....I've worked for agencies and do you think the female dispachers ever answered "what do you want??? fo shizzle!"

good for you for hanging up.

in the same sense I have been left a voicemail message or two by potential clients asking me to call back....when a WOMAN ansers the phone I always say "oh..um is JUDY there?" generally the pissy lady says "no you have the wrong number!" and I'm relieved when I hear the *click*

opposite sex answering the phone never works well on ANY end!

and whos to say that the guy answering the pone in the first place wasn't a jealous boyfriend who got a hold of the worker's phone and *may* try and make you think its really a cute gal coming to your place and not someone whos willing to take some rage out on you....

yes...male agents answering the phone may NOT be that, but if a guy is going to answer the phone with attitude like that....hang up the phone as fast as u can!

A guy answering would be a real turn off for me, and probably a deal killer. I know of one indie who has a receptionist, real nice girl with a friendly voice and manner, I know the Indie values her service. The Indie also made a point of asking me during our meeting how the receptionist handled the call. Very professional in my mind.

In response to what Jason said, I'll note that I worked for an agency briefly in Toronto whose phones were almost always answered by the agent, himself. (Believe it or not, the agency was called, "Rent A Bunny" -- IKR! It was only for a couple months, I SWEAR!)

Back in those days, there was no internet for the general public, and few people had computers, let alone modems to participate on BBS's. Men were very isolated with respect to their involvement in this "hobby." There were occasional groups of men who obviously were discussing and sharing references among themselves, but the overwhelming majority of customers really had no other man they could discuss this with. And they could only discuss it with the SPs they met.

Now think about this: you guys come here -- some of you every day. You obviously enjoy having other people you can speak freely with about this, both male and female.

At the time I worked for Rent-A-Bunny, I was not comfortable having a man representing me, and I was suspicious of the men who were obviously okay with dealing with another man for my services. It made me feel like a commodity. That's why I didn't stick around.

In retrospect -- and especially after reading Jason's comment -- I wonder if some of the agency's customers didn't find it refreshing to be able to discuss what they were doing with another man who didn't judge them and who understood. After all, there is so much stigma surrounding this.

Even though we have sites like this available these days, I still find that the majority of new people I meet don't participate on them. It can be very hard having to carry the burden of having a secret, and a tremendous relief to be able to deal with someone who knows and doesn't judge you for it. I wonder if many of Jason's callers don't feel some sense of relief in becoming a regular of his agency and being able to confide in another "dude," to use Jason's words.
