I agree wholeheartedly with Attilla, and the others. If it was an issue for some for the SP's to be involved, or for repeat awards to be won, the time to voice that was at the nomination. Everyone knew Emma was an SP, and a previous award winner then, but no one said anything at the time. Only after the fact was it brought up, and clearly it swayed the outcome because after that comment, the voting pattern changed substantially. Emma as a CERB member has proven herself extremely knowledgable and experienced, and she has given generously of both to hobbiest and SP's alike. The posts are only part of the story with her too. Her contributions continue in the PM's. She has assisted many members, freely giving advice and commentary on any number of topics of relevance. Particularly impressive in my opinion , is her ability to converse at any level, simplifying for the inexperienced, and rising to the more "advanced", as the occasion dictates with equal efficacy and dignity. That , people , is a sign of something special and certainly worthy of this award. But the thing that seals it for me is her retraction. I respect it , if that is her wish, but its a crime nevertheless. Rather than allow any further negativity to continue, she puts pride aside and merely points out what we all should have known in the first place. We members, whether they realize it or not, have all just been schooled on grace and class by this fine lady.

It was on tv last night but the cnbc has it on thier website for everyone to watch If didnt get a chance to watch the program here it is on the cnbc website http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232/?vid...3761885&play=1 I found it very motivating in some aspects of the show, and others I think they are still trying to put us in a negative light as what media does.

That's a great link, as well, so long as it is called prostitution, it will always retain all the negatives tied to it, which as you mentionned is what media seem to like (sells more that way...) Some day, it will no longer be a dirty word, or better yet, it will be a forgotten one !!

Which is why I keep my diary. If I point out the scams, bait and switches and other crazyness it will help the potential clients find the true gems and honest providers who do advertise on CL

If any of you took the time to read the threads on past Valued Member..take the time... http://cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4586&highlight=valued+member http://cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=6085&highlight=valued+member If you noticed after reading the threads, it was all about fun, and acknowledging those nominated. You certainly did not see any comments about SP's being part of it, or awards, or anything but good chat and fun. And we also had some other doobdude voters..LOL So your last comments have taken that away from everyone nominated, so congrats..good going. I asked Mod to simply close this thread as you last gents are simply ruining for the other nominee's for the next time..did you ever think of that??

For me, sporatically advertising on CL is like looking for "diamond in the rough" clients and they do exist. There have been two times I have not been paid in full and given grief. Rest assured, they were both responses from my CL advertisement. I still, however, advertise on CL because that is where new hobbiests begin (before learning about CERB) and I have met a lot of great men from there. Scams make my job as a reputable SP more difficult and I hate hearing negative stories about CL scams.

they shame the shit out of them, it's fucked...... we tried to revise it in vancouver, but they make alot of money, $500 perguy i believe.... here's what i wrote...remember Salvation army australia apologized to sex workers for their anti trafficking campaign and all the harm it caused...maybe in ottawa you could have more luck, we had to deal with john howard, never returned our e-mails or calls...not lowering themselves to speak to a prostitute..... JOHN SCHOOL Background John School as it is currently known is a diversion program for sex consumers who have violated the communication provisions of the criminal code of Canada related to prostitution. While diversion is preferable to the consumers of sex bearing the shame of a criminal record, the program as it stands does not give consumers any useful information on how to engage in the sex industry( purchase sex) within the boundaries of the law and within the reasonable boundaries already established by the community at large. Further, information related to safe sex practices, other health issues, legal rights are also not discussed. Instead, ?offenders? are shamed with a barrage of the impacts of violence on sex workers and the reasons why people are forced into the survival sex trade. The mystery around the sex industry and lack of information for those wishing to purchase services contributes the numbers of consumers acquiring sexual services at street level. The BC Coalition of Experiential Communities are currently designing a set of occupational health and safety guidelines/ minimum labor standards to stabilize our industry. Included in the project will be a tool kit for sex industry consumers to engage in purchasing sexual services in an ethical way that respects age restrictions (no youth), safe sex practices, respect for the workers and explains ways to minimize harm(mess, traffic) to communities impacted by the street level sex industry. A john school program which took a harm reduction approach to these issues could greatly impact the issues surrounding the sex consumer?s lack of knowledge on how their activities affect the entire community and greatly reduce the numbers of consumers accessing sexual services on the street. In stead of telling them where they shouldn?t be, tell them where they can be. Goals To re examine the curricula and determine where there may be opportunities for addition or revision. To engage all stakeholders in the design of the program including business owners, residents, police, sex workers, sex consumers and sex worker support agencies. To ensure the sex workers experience is honored and valued and that sex workers who deliver the john school training are compensated and supported. To ensure sex consumers are given the tools to make safe, ethical decisions when purchasing sexual services which respect their needs, protects them from further criminal involvement, increases their awareness about the impacts of the sex industry on communities(condom mess etc) To ensure that diverse sex worker experiences( male, female, trans) and that all aspects of the industry (exotic dance, male hustlers, adult film, street level, escort, massage, etc.) are represented in the presentation and that workers from all levels have the opportunity to deliver the curricula. Expected Outcomes Decreased numbers of sex consumers ?cruising? in communities, less traffic Increased safety for residents of communities impacted by the street level sex industry. Decrease in community complaints related to the sex industry( condoms, public sex) Decreased recidivism of sex consumers- they will know how to engage within the boundaries of the law. During the Living in Community Project, residents and business owners in communities impacted by the sex trade indicated that their biggest concerns were; Residual mess(condoms, etc) Public sex acts Unwanted approaches of consumers to women who are not sex workers Violence- everyone agrees the level of violence endured by street level sex workers is unacceptable. Being faced with sex workers out with their children in the community. Through communication with sex consumers, it?s our belief that all of these issues would be impacted from one degree to another. By giving the consumer the information they need to engage the sex industry in a way that respects everyone in the community, these points of conflict between sex workers and communities could be eased. Next Steps Hire a project coordinator Review all current curricula Hold a series of focus groups with all stake holders to identify information for the presentation Finalize the design of the presentation and an information package for consumers to take away Implement the new program

"Emma is a valued contributor and I believe that if she wins, its because she deserves it whether she has one or 10 awards." exactly! if anything, if someone wins the same or a similar award in the past, doesn't that just ADD to their ranking?...show that through time they are STILL a valued contributor? I haven't been on here as my current handle long enough to pay attention to who wins what and when and how often but I used to be part of a nightlife forum-site with the same kind of contest...and those who won one year would slack in their contributions after winning the award ......obviously being nominated for an SP award and such has not stopped Emma......and why should it? her contributions have led those who seem astray hobbyists to walking straight in the business, and her advice to SPs, in my books, will always be valued. she is here for both parties....equally...and for that I have to tip my hat and duly respect ;-)

If anyone is deserving of the valued member award I think it's Pete's time.

I really would like to see Pete take this one, Emma has her SP award, and Pete has added so many great recommendations he has done his part over and beyond!

Thank you Emma for this wonderful topic. I have already run in to some problems because of this other person using the name Spud, so my adivce is the same to everyone new on here. Make sure you don't use a handle that is close to someone elses, otherwise it causes a great deal of confusion!
