chavez 641 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Thanks to the Sybian, and the input from various members here, Winnipeg will be having it's second ' real party' I realize the the Sybian is not everyone idea of something to center a party around but there are enough of us that I believe we will make that last party look like a tea party. I want to thank those that have encouraged me to follow through with a vage idea of a plan. I owe a debt of thanks to those that have support me and offered assistance. To those that might have offered encouragement, but didn't , I invite them to support our next project whole heartedly. chavez 641 Report post Posted March 10, 2011 I mentioned earlier that I hoped to have something to add to this thread on the Sabian. I will start with Samanthian's concern about noise. I believe Samantha said that she understood that it sounded like a cross between a motor boat and a grass trimmer. Potentially with that much power vibration this might be a problem but a few weeks ago a lady and I tried it out and I was paying special attention for noise. ( machine , not lady). I was glad to say that the Sybian didn't make a lot of noise if the ladys was on it. That was on a carpeted concrete floor in a hotel room. We never even tried it on a bed. I mentioned that with vibration deadening material it may make even less noise. In preparation for our Sabian party I built a raised stand to hold the Sybian and added about 1.5 cm of vibration deadening material. The raised stand was built paritcularly to facilitate viewing and to prevent leg cramping for the ladies. Again we use it on a hotel room on a carpeted concrete floor, with 3 ladies of various body stypes. Sorry if this sounds a little clinical, it was far from that! I am happy to report that up to 50% power there was not noticable sound (from 50 cm away). A slight sound at 70 % power , and more but now excessive at 80%. We never reached beyond 85 % power. That would have taken a special effort for the ladies. Was it everything I hoped for. Yes. I think each of the ladies will agree. We need to thank them. Doing this in a less than private setting takes a special commitment to scientific research. Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted March 19, 2011 I've never encountered a Sybian in real-life. My impression from having seen the Sybian in a few XXX-Movies was that it was very loud. But perhaps this loudness could have been an artificial result created by the makers of the video. Placing a microphone close to the machine would pick-up as much noise as possible, for the sake of impressing the viewer of the video: lots of noise being possibly intended to convey the power of its effect?
