Gift cards for deposit

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if any providers take Amazon gift cards for a deposit?  I know there are a few here that can't e-transfer from their accounts, so was wondering if something like those gift cards would work?  It would allow a cash transaction to purchase the card, and then the details could easily be sent for a deposit to the provider as if it were cash.

yeah, YFL and other providers seem to like using that method, I always found it a bit odd, I guess it's the lack of trace-ability.

It allows anonymity on both sides of the transaction where something like an EMT often reveals a legal name for one or both people. The issue is some people also use it as a scam because it becomes untraceable where you just send to an email. So it is very important to do your research and confirm the provider is real but that should be for any provider whether they ask for a deposit or not.

But yes some legit providers use it. Tasha (DaddysGirlTasha/Tiny Tasha) comes to mind.

Yeah, it's always up to the sender to verify who they are sending the card info to.  Once a provider is accepted to be real or verified, I can see it being a great way to send deposits.

I’d like to chime in - giftcard deposits are great, but they don’t allow us providers to cover the cost of things like accommodations, travel, touring, etc.,

A lot of us ask for EMT, because this means we’re able to use said deposits, to cover work expenses instead of paying out of pocket. It also means we’re compensated if someone decides to cancel last minute or not show up (which happens way too often). So, instead of being in the red over the loss of an appointment, we have a few dollars to compensate for that lost time.

I’ll take e-gift cards if someone insists on discretion, but EMT will always be my preferred deposit method, for the reasons I’ve listed above. If you see a reputable provider, discretion is guaranteed. We want our privacy as much as the client.
