The French film that she's most famous for, or at least to me, is Irreversible. That is one fucked up movie. It goes in reverse like Memento, experiments with camera work and there is a 9 minute anal rape of Bellucci. Really disturbing. Also really unnecessary. I don't think they were glamourizing it...I've seen a lot of fucked up shit in movies, and that scene was hands down the most disturbing ever. And I think that was the point, it was supposed to make you sick and uncomfortable. I know it's a touchy subject in general, but the Hollywood notion of a closing door and all you know is that someone was viciously beaten or raped candy-coats the reality of the brutality. There's little to no emotional response other than temporary sympathy. After watching Irreversible, I wanted to cease being human knowing that some men are capable of shit like that...
