It included some great speaking lines by the horror movie icon Vincent Price. It set the standard for videos to come. Secondly, in terms of comedy Wierd Al Yankovic's video called Fat is a take on Michael Jackson's video Bad is a favorite. Michel Gondry is an amazing director who knows how to create beautiful images out of simplicity. He also did great jobs with the White Stripes, Beck, Cibo Matto, Bjork and many others. NIN also made a lot of great clips, remember the short one that brought us into a toilet? It was very unique and impressive when it came out in the 90's! Do I always loved Rob Zombie (I am more familiar with his White Zombie period), I have to disagree with you for that choice, whats great about it comes from the imaginary of Kubrick so i would not include it in a list of best videos ever. I had totally forgot about Petty's Alice in Wonderland clip, it reminded me of that one If we are only talking about visual aspects here - not music - i really enjoy those two who were produced in the last couple of years: video and Justice D.A.N.C.E., simple but so great. I often wonder what kind of videos would've accompanied their songs. David Bowie's video for 'I'm Afraid of Americans' was pretty cool and it made me wonder what he would've done with the artform if it had been around during his real heyday. Same goes for Pink Floyd. I know they made that movie of The Wall, but I wonder what individually crafted videos would've been like for their songs. Same with The Beatles, who had their Yellow Submarine movie, I wonder what their music videos for their songs would've been like. As for artists who really did awesome things with music videos, I would say Bjork is the queen of the mountain. A lot of her videos are directed by Michel Goundry who has done some really cool things with film as well. He directed Eternal Sunshine On The Spotless Mind and Where The Wild Things Are.
