Starting an agency

Recommended Posts

A few friends I have all work as SP's and are on CERB we have all worked as indies since we started. But lately have been considering turning ourselves in to an angency and hiring someone to manage it all for us.

Just trying to figure out if there is anything specific that we would nee to know before doing this. What legal issues might arise, is there anyway we would have to be registered as a business?

Just anything that might be helpful, essentially we just want someone to help with our scheduling and this would be the best way for us. Any help would be appreciated.

Not knowing about this business in particular, I would suggest there are two people you should be talking to. Since you are going to have multiple partners in the business you need to know how you're going to structure your agency. So at the very start you should sit down with a lawyer and an accountant. The later will give you a good idea on what works best in a business sense, and the former will advise you on the legalities and actually do the legal paperwork to register and setup the agency. Aside from all the other issues this gets you out on the right foot, and will protect each of you down the road.

I guess it won't the typical Agency, just looking to make it easier for our scheduling if we were all under name and contact person. The Agency wouldn't even be operating for profit.....more of a Co-Op with one paid employee handling our scheduling.

Your employee may find themselves facing 'living off the avails' charges. Until/unless these laws are changed across Canada, anyone you pay from escort earnings can face that risk.

You just have to be aware of that going in, and that by advertising as an agency with someone else responding to calls and doing the booking, that you may draw unwanted attention to yourself, and the booker.

Do clients in your area see more value in dealing with a 3rd party, or do they only want to deal directly with the sps herself? Because going agency/booker you might alienate some clients, the same thing happens if you have someone else doing your ad postings, and they have access to your accounts like here on cerb. Not many clients like the idea of someone else reading and replying to messages that they think are going to the sp only.

I think the idea of starting an agency is a great idea. Back in the day, there were some well known, reputable agencies in the area. The great thing about agencies in general (at least for me) are that they offer variety and convenience. I like being able to see who's available at the time I choose to make a booking, as it is very conducive to a "spur of the moment" impulse. I've found that with independents, I often have to book well in advance as everyone has their own schedules and finding a mutually agreeable time can often take some planning. As an aside, if the agency comes to fruition, you might consider expanding in the future by adding additional ladies to your roster. You've definitely got my attention... best of luck!

In the Maritimes I think if you want to start an agency there are several things you should be cautious of. Competition can be catty. With other agencies booking fake appointments and sending you on calls that aren't legit.

Also if you are going to open a new agency you will immediately be on the radar L.e.

From what I've seen they usually don't bother people involved in the. Business as long as there is no issues and business is kept generally low key

I think there are pros and cons to agency vs independent. My personal opinion is for the area that your isn indepedent is the way to go

When opening an agency your biggest cost will be advertising. Yellow pages ads, internet ads. And ibdont think you should hire someone I think you should alternate shifts between women working so that way clients can feel assured trgt their privacy and discretion is maintained

That is just my personal opinon, but whatever you may decide I wish you the best and good luck in the future

Take care and happy new year

If you started an agency and used recognizable and respected ladies, it would be a hit.

#1.....you have to offer the ladies something they're not getting now.

#2......same for men

as mentioned above, paying someone to do your bookings is considered "living off the avails" which is as illegal as street soliciting. How are you and your friends SPs without knowing this in the first place? I think before you venture forth into this agency idea, you should consider educating yourselves more on the sex industry and canadian laws surrounding it. Then make a more educated decision.

We would all keep our own accounts on here for talking to guys and even booking long term appointments and our regulars. And then have the agency handle last minute bookings, general inquires, and incall bookings. Having the ladies doing shifts probably wouldn't work because the entire purpose of the agency would be to free up our time. I look at us as still being indipendent and ideally still focusing on the Cerb crowd, and just operating this in a way to free up out time as opposed to making more money.

I have read up on the laws and ensured I have been following them very closely, but since I have never had an employee the "living off the avails" law has never applied to me and in my opinion is idiotic. I do have a friend who is willing to take the position to help us out, but for the amount we would be paying him I don't think it is worth the risk for him.

Well it looks like me and Allyson will be staying on our own for the next bit.

We would really not be looking to recruit just a few girls having someone else answer generic emails and last minute bookings so we can focus on the important stuff...Pleasing men ;)
