Is there a way to turn off the predictive text on my smartphone

Doesn't speed up typing, you just spend more time editing and deleting words you never heard of before

Not sure about yours, but I can switch from T9 to multi-tap. Or......you could make a phone call. LOL..you remind me of me, bud!

Not sure what you are using RG, but I know with my current iPhone i can shut this off in the settings. My old phone which was a Blackberry torch, this was an option as well in the settings.

Note: Blackberry was last operating system, not sure if new OS has this option still.

Cheers

There are a number of youtube videos to help with these hidden settings.

The one at

applies to a galaxy note II, but should apply to Android-based Samsung phones in general.

Otherwise, searching for "Samsung Galaxy Note disable predictive" should get you some decent instructions.

Edit: removed my instructions. just watched the youtube link Tallguy posted and it shows how to do it. The note is a little different than my Samsung.

Why type? Reminds me of the Star Trek movie where Scottie says "Keyboard?!!?? How quaint!"

I just use Google voice actions for sending a text or "typing" an email :)

It's a real time saver and it really does work!
