Secret Diary of a Callgirl

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine downloaded season one and two of Secret Diary of a Callgirl.

I have watched a few episodes and absolutely love it.

I would highly recommend it for all escorts to watch because it is really good and will make you smile with how funny and true it is.

I had a friend of mine recommend the show to me...at first I was really afraid to watch it because I was worried it would pay improper homage to us working girls but once I watched a couple episodes I was hooked.

In my opinion they share many of the funny highlights and sometimes difficult times a callgirl faces with plain and not overdone real--life situations...and often a dose of comedy as well.....for example, the little Ally McBeal-like part where she has these little scenarios that happen in her head. she wonders how easy it would be if she could just tell her family and then imagines what the next family reunion would be like...instead of having to fake her chit chat about her imaginary job in her head she pictures her old and feeble grandmother asking "so whats a BBBJ?" or something like that...getting an answer and then saying "oh...well thats nice" with a big grin. Teh of course she snaps back to reality......its too funny.

I watched it online both seasons and now I have the dvds, I find the actual blog to be very boring. and some have said the book is just the blog in print.

but as for the tv show they do keep it entertaining and seem to have things that aren't mentioned in the book because o the background research they do for the show.

Grandma "WE've all had our own share of cock." lmao.

I am amazed at some of the parallels the show has with my experiences. I hate having to lie to so many people and can relate to her struggles with that.

I also wonder about my upcoming retirement on August 5th and how easy it will be to adjust to normal life again. I wonder if I will feel as bored as she did when she temporarily quit.

I have seen the shows, read both books (which are absolutly amazing) I am sure we can ALL relate to some part of the books (both from a client perspective as well as from our own). I am sure we could all write an unforgettable book, from our experiences.

I think it is Season 3 that was ust on HBO, and it just keeps getting better.

The adventures that she goes on, and how we can all go on from there....

xoxo,

Em

It's interesting to get your perspective on this show, ladies. I enjoy it, and have watched several episodes. Mainly it's because I think Billie Piper's hot! (Sorry to lower the tone of this thread...). I can relate to some of the situations from a hobbyist point of view, too.

I enjoyed season 1 more than 2. I also read the blog when the author was actively working. Definitely relatable!

All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts - As You Like It (Shakespeare)

Being in Ottawa it is common to rub shoulders with folk holding security clearances, they are just cagey or talk in generalities when it comes to their jobs. It is something that comes with the territory.

Or use an euphemism: independent social worker, body works therapist....

usually its not the strategy of naming what we do as the problem, so much as the problem of having to keep most of it a secret from friends, lovers and family. I think many ladies can relate to the social struggles that come along with our profession That Belle goes through as well as the internal struggles of not exactly being able to share a "bad day at work" with just anybody.

I found it entertaining and somewhat true to what limited knowledge I have or could imagine it would be like, but I thought that the main character Belle should have been a little more emotionally engaging with her clients. She wasn't cold, but she was a bit dull with them for the most part. Of course there's enough SP's I have been with that were just there in body only, but I wouldn't see them again. And they weren't charging what she was charging!

Maybe that's what they were trying to go for or how the author really was when she was working, however it would be nice to see a portrayal of that life where the girl had a more interesting personality and showed more depth. It would be easy for someone who had no idea about that world to get the impression that the only outcome is a jaded personality. I still liked it though...didn't know there was a 3rd season, guess I'll have to look for that now ;)

for the most part I have to agree...but there were a few episodes where she showed attachment to some clients. I remember the episode where she lent her favorite regular a book then lost that regular to the new girl at the agency. then later it showed her reaction to the event with a friend where she tearfully said "i lent someone a book and I dont think I'm going to get it back"...but it wasn't entirely about just the book, lol

I too enjoyed the series. I enjoyed Belle's character and felt for her through the lows in her life and celebrated her highs. It must be a difficult life dealing with the emotions and uncertainties of unknown clents and friends in the dark. I admire the strength of these women and wish them well.
