SA, I think you need to realize that despite Suri's choice in agency some other new ladies may come across this thread looking for answers as to which path to take.

In this case, having first-hand dancers giving their opinions on their life experiences in the real world of being a dancer (from the other side of the stage) and SPs giving their opinions on their side of the story....you should not be shutting anyone's opinions out if they have first-hand experience of what its like to a lady in either of these shoes. The purpose of this thread may not be to help Suri anymore but to put out there all the aspects of these sugested jobs for any other gal who may come accross this thread in search for answers.

so we can all bicker back and forth...or we can let our opinions and experiences help some ladies make the choice thats right for them after reading all this. I will say right off the batt, that the first will go nowhere. Opinions based on life experience shouldnt be viewed as attacks, but you need to acknowledge the opinions of those who have obviously "been there". personally I find the best advice comes from someone who has lived it

Thank you Annessa or your comments.

This thread was about suri, however, if members like debate over dancing versus escort, please open a new thread.

Since the advice on dancing could have been offensive and some believe it was not a good advice then I can't see the reason for the advice given in the posts to remain. So, with mod's permission (who left it up to me to decide) I deleted all the related threads.

Again I apologize to anyone that I may have offended in this thread by my advice on dancing which was given in good faith.

I think you opened up the debate by giving your opinion that you thought dancing was better than escorting, so really you are the one who took this thread in that direction.

Just because you didn't like someone's so-called attacks on you, is no reason to now want to pull the plug and say, well if you don't agree with me, I'm taking my ball and going home. You can't have it both ways...that is stating your opinion and not expecting others to state theirs.

The thread is what it is, so live with it. If you started, it, ask the MOD to close it for you so there are no further comments.

If people want to continue the discussion, they will post a new thread, but as long as this one is open, be prepared for more comments.

Oh, and by the way, as I said to you in PM, I do believe you did have Suri's best interests at heart.

I very much appreciated the various workers points of view in this thread. If any new ladies join this board looking to make an informed decision about their choice of work I think the experiences shared by dancers and escorts alike will be very helpful.

I dislike dipping my toe into the controversy pool but here goes.

No one likes to be told by someone else that they know what is best for us even if the intention is one that comes from a 'good place'. As sex workers we face this all the time - from governments, from our families, from our friends, from clients. If you want to know about the working conditions of a given establishment or field, no one knows it better than the worker herself (or himself).

Erin - loved your comment about how watching gay porn doesn't make you an expert on gay pornstar-dom.

Correction, I said dancing was SAFER relative to escorting (NOT better).

I will not make any further comments to your post, as I don't wish this (so called) debate to drag on, except to thank you for your last comment on the fact that I had the best interests of the original poster at heart.

Please read my comments in the "apology" post. I stated clealy that I provided advice based on the request of the original poster in the first post of the thread and so did others (with a link to what I thought are reputable Ottawa agencies). Why mine is any different just because it did not sit well with some??. I never TOLD anyone as what they do. If you do not wish to receive advice then please don't ask for one and if you ask for it and someone who cares give you an advice then please don't slap him or her in the face that no one likes to be told what to do:confused:!!!!

As this thread was about agencies (I haven't really dealt with one), then became a dancing vs. escorting debate (not enough experience yet imo to give a viewpoint on the merits of each) I have no comment on either topic...but...

I do want to talk about discussion and debates. In my mind a great discussion is centered around people with differing views expressing their thoughts and trying to explain why they believe their viewpoint is a valid one. I personally love a great debate, I consider myself fairly intelligent (who doesn't:lol:) and actually love being proven wrong in a worthwhile debate. Any time people can share ideas and thoughts everyone benefits.

I don't believe someone telling you that you are wrong because they have first hand experiences is an attack, I think it is a valid discussion point and one you (or anyone for that matter) could benefit learning from.

I may not know you SA, but I do believe you when you say you have made many connections with dancers and have had many heart to hearts with them. But I think if you compile all the notes from dancers, club workers and ex-dancers/ones with dancer friends in this thread and bear these in mind next time you visit your favorite clubs, you will probably notice some of the things they talk about. Just because you don't disrespect the women at clubs doesn't mean many others do, and do so in grotesque ways.

To SA: I have read your comments. I have read the whole thread even before posts were removed.

I was just sharing the perspective that sex workers know the reality of their work best.

I was not directing my comments at anyone person. If I wished to I would have named names.

The conversation of this thread expanded past the original question. This is what happens on message boards. It was not a private discussion between individuals.

My point was: I am client of many services but I do not assume to know the reality of the work (both good, bad and tolerable) except from a client's perspective. Sex workers know the realities of sex work best. Especially given the unique stigma and work related issues sex workers deal with. This is a fair statement to add to this public group discussion.

Again my observations were not directed to you or anyone individual.

Now taking my toe out of the controversy pool. :-)

Thank you Charlotte for the clarification. I am sorry for my wrong impression.

You likely mean escorts as (most) dancers are though service providers, however, in my view they fall into the category of entertainers.

On this note I TOTALLY AGREE.

I stand corrected. You said dancing was safer not better than escorting.

Point still is you opened up the debate by making that statement.

Why haven't you asked the MOD to close this thread yet if it bothers you so much?

Suri, you have already made your decision with PK and i must say you made a good choice. I do prefer indie SP's over agency SP's and i truly believe that you would have made it just fine on your own just advertising here on CERB.

Point being, good luck on your second attemp and I hope the best for you, and i'm sure you PK will get you back on your feet and who knows what you will decide at a later time.

And just so we are clear if someone thinks Dancing is safer than escorting they are wrong, very wrong. The pitfalls and dangers are present in both environments and in some cases worse as an escort and some worse as a dancer.

I don't want to drone on about things that I have seen happen around me however it is very true the dangers are real in either place and yes they are both sex workers, if you want an entertainer go to yuk yuks or the NAC. Dancers are burdend with the work of having to entertain large groups while escort usually only entertain on a much smaller scale.
