Female condoms

What do you guys think? Do you like them? Do you prefer them over traditional male condoms?

I keep trying them from time to time, but so far no one has been thrilled with them.

I certainly can see what you guys means about losing sensitivity with condoms, as the female one does that to me, too, but I would be willing to give that sensation up some times in order for you to have a (male) condom-free experience. But......are they really any better for you? So far, the guys I have tried them out with have not gotten very excited over them.

I thought they would be especially good for threesomes, but ..... no one has liked them much.

What say ye?

I am curious to hear your comments.

I have found that any barrier reduces sensitivity Summer, but with the developments over the years in male condoms sensitivity reduction is not as pronounced as once was. Not being female and not having experienced female condoms from your perspective I can understand the reduced sensitivity to a lady. I have yet to experience being with a lady who is using one so I can only surmise my sensitivity would probably be increased over a male condom. I'm just speculating though.

Not a man... obviously.. but I prefer to use sensi thin condoms.. female condom is so cumbersome and difficult to use quickly so you can lose the heat of the moment whereas with a condom.. lickity split (pun intended) I can get it on and get going without a lag.. plus putting it on can be very sensual if done correctly.. no can do with the female condom.. very unsexy in my opinion.

What I found (two experiences) the one time used cowgirl and well it was (from my perspective) as close to having uncovered intercourse while still practicing safe sex

The second time, and it was likely me, well not likely, it was me...we were making love culminating with intercourse. My concern was getting inside the condom. I was worried I'd push the condom aside or push it inside, well basically worried that it would turn out to be unsafe. Maybe it's my lack of experience with the lady condom, maybe practice would make perfect but for missionary I was inept. And I didn't was to force anything, these ladies are great, and I wouldn't do anything to hurt them. And potentially placing the lady at risk of unprotected sex by my fumbling would hurt her

One thing, if using a lady condom, then the man doesn't wear a condom

And vice versa. Two condoms rubbing against each other causes tearing and leads to unsafe sex

Anyhow, a rambling

Yup. I too am basking in a sea of ignorance in this regard as I have never encountered a companion who used one hence my response/post above. I suspect this is probably for the reasons articulated by Carrie Moon.

Going to show my ignorance here but have never been with a partner using female condoms - don't know but suspect I'm not alone in this ignorance.

I personally like them.

It doesn't particularly sexy to have a piece of latex sticking out of your genitalia...but eh it does have some advantages

1) for those that want to do duos and have the fantasy of not changing condoms between girls can do it since each sP can wear a female condom

2) it's really good for those that get soft with putting a condom on their penis since you don't have the feeling of being construct by it

Here is a funny, yet informative comic I came across a while back which explains female condoms very well for those who do not have experience with them. It also explains some of the pros and cons to consider.

Providers aren't going to just automatically use them as the go-to safer sex method, but many will use them if specially requested.

I have used them a couple of times, with at least 2 people saying they really didn't like them. One situation it was the best solution, and he didn't seem to have a problem at all.

On a US forum that i used to be on, there were a lot of sps and clients who raved about them, making me think they are much more commonly used there, or at least known about. For me all the downsides have been mentioned as well as the upsides. no one when this was discussed on this other forum seemed to be aware of or cared about the look of them or the awkwardness of putting them in, or anything of the sort.

I guess it is a case of getting used to them. Maybe an sp can use them exclusively with one client until they are both more experienced and relaxed about it, then either one can spread that know how lol.

rambling guy, i think they only way you could 'miss' is if you are an exit/enter guy, and most guys aren't doing that, they aren't going all the way out, then all the way back in again. I don't think they are ideal for someone who does that. I do think they are ideal for someone who is just too large for XL condoms. or someone who is too aware of the condom to maintain the erection.

if you google, you will find an XXX rated instructional video that is really great.

They are also very expensive--up to $3-5 per condom, if picked up at the store. So I would hate to waste them if the guy didn't really care. Probably also keeps me from using them often enough to get real adept at it.

I was mostly curious as to if it made that much difference in sensation to the guy.

Thanks, all.

I also don't have any real life experience with female condoms so can only speak hypothetically but...

Though I can see the upsides that some have mentioned (specifically in regards to threesomes) I can think of another downside that would generally make me at least reluctant to go this route: during an encounter I like to be able to go back and forth between going down on a lady and intercourse. From what others are saying, it doesn't sound like DATY would be all that practical once the female condom was in.

I did not like them. They felt like installing an appliance. It might be better with time but the learning curve to use them is too long and complex. External condoms are nice and simple. If an external condom slips you can see that. If an internal condom slips out of position, it is easy to miss that. External condoms are both easier to use and have a higher effectiveness rate.

I've never tried one, but a couple of thoughts occur.

First, from the infographic that EmJ posted: 95% effective with perfect use? 79% with average use? And that's as a contraceptive; viruses are smaller than spermatozoa. Those numbers seem low to me. Mind you, the numbers for the condoms we all know and love are 98% and 82% (from the same source), so they're only a bit better.

Second, I can't help but think that the preference may tie in with BBBJ vs CBJ. If you're doing CBJ, then pulling off the condom so that you could then use the female version sounds like unnecessary hassle to me, whereas if you're doing BBBJ then it may follow more naturally.

And finally...

They are also very expensive--up to $3-5 per condom, if picked up at the store.

This still doesn't strike me as a major overhead compared to the going rate for visiting a SP in the first place.

I found the experience to feel more tlike no condom. I think the fact that I am not wrapped gave the sensation of more friction while having sex.

Draw back was I found them to be quite expensive.

Given the fact they are quite expensive and apparently cumbersome I would have to gain some first hand experience in order to come to some sort of conclusion but hopefully it would be a positive experience as some others have indicated. Definitely an option well worth exploring cost notwithstanding. Is there a failure rate associated with them?

I can now speak to this subject with some experience. Strictly on the subject of my pleasure, oh wow! Just like back in the good old days.

From the standpoint of her pleasure, she seemed to have enjoyed it, too, but my guess is she would have found the external condom to be better.

As far as DATY, the way it was "installed", that would have been quite possible.

The downside was that there was a lot of checking to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be. As I care a lot about my partner in any episode I just accepted that as part of an exciting event. But I can see where some would find that part off-putting.

Would I use them again? Absolutely. Would I swear off external condoms? Not a chance. I find the female condom to be another interesting item in the toy box.

A little adhesive around the rim might reduce the need to check all the time.

I could totally see that daty would be possible. The FC is not rigid (or glued) in place, it can be moved aside quite easily, i imagine.

This is a video. pretty sure i saw a better one at one time, but this gives you a good if shakey-at-the-end idea.

I have a couple of gents who request them, and I oblige as it's their preference. I don't use them often as I find them too large and cumbersome, and it's not just the appearance it's the comfort. The inability to self lubricate also means using more artificial lube.

when perusing for more condoms (I like to get my XL condoms from here) I found the female condom much cheaper than other places...

if you get 10 they're only $1.26 each!

I don't have a lot of experience with female condoms. However I had a willing participant in my little "experiment". So, here's my "findings" lol...

1. LUBE LUBE LUBE! As was previously mentioned, because it blocks the woman from self lubricating, lube is absolutely crucial, and the more the better. I found that it felt far better for BOTH involved if there was a sufficient amount of lube applied!

2. I found it easy to insert! And remember, if you don't get it in deep enough on your own, your partner can push it there when he gets inside :)

3. I still had vaginal orgasms, so my ability to do so wasn't hindered by the female condom.

4. My partner found it as CLOSE to bareback as he had ever felt... except we had protection!

5. We tried it in VARIOUS positions... missionary, doggy, cowgirl -- all were successful!

6. Yes, the look is different - and it's just - different. But it's also a matter of getting used to it. Imagine if all we saw in porn was female condoms? No one would question it!

All in all, I am now a huge supporter and will use them when and if a client requests them! They are also INCREDIBLE For duos, as there isn't a need for changing condoms between partners! ALSO would be wonderful for clients who may struggle with maintaining an erection :)

Try it!!! You might just like it :)
