The Do's and Dont's of Websites and Advertising

This is a question for both hobbiests and providers...

 

Are there any basic rules you have when either looking or creating an advertisement or website?

 

For example- I really look at the aesthetic of providers websites, like the quality of their photography and their style of writing.

 

I was told by another provider to not write all those acronyms we see so often on these sites, because it looks tacky, but I am often asked about them.

 

What are some of the things you look for in ads?

I look for this basic information:

-rates

-availability (when she plans on working)

-location (not a specific address, but a part of town is enough)

-photos to see if I find her physically attractive

-her age (or at least her age group)

-how to contact her

 

As for what she writes about her personality and service, I look for women who seem friendly, warm, and down to earth. I like a bit of humour. I'm not usually looking for the wild porn star types or the really raunchy ads, but lots of guys are.

 

But you shouldn't write what you think clients want to hear. You should market yourself honestly. Write about the service you want to provide. Design your ads and website in a way that reflects your personality. There's demand for all types of women and if you market yourself honestly, then you'll attract clients who will enjoy your service. You'll have a better time, they'll have a better time, and your business will grow.

 

That being said, read your clients' recommendations. See how clients describe you in words. Maybe they like something about you that you didn't even realize was attractive. You can incorporate some of that into your advertising.

 

As for photos, again, honesty is the best policy. I generally become distrustful when the only photos an SP has are really dark, grainy, low resolution selfies that are all shot way too close and/or smothered in photoshop filters. Clarity is important. I think some guys dig the glamour of professional photo shoots. I just want a clear idea of who's going to open the door when I go to see her. I like to see a well-lit photo shot from a distance that I can see more than 25% of her body in decent resolution with no effects.

To give a bit of advice that is included in many other discussions at the moment, it would be in your best interest NOT to use a menu or a list of acronyms. Writing and maintaining a website takes a lot of time and energy and right now, we are in a flux point between what we are used to and Bill C36. no one knows who is gathering what information at this point to use at a further point so it is best to create your website in a way that doesn't outright describe sexual services at all. This way you are covered now and when things settle out later, you can look at making changes once you know for sure what is good and legal.

 

Rate is for time and companionship only but many like to see the listed rate. Some SP's chose to discuss that only by phone conversation.

 

As for the rest, it's all about you. Be yourself, determine your business model and create around that. Be aware of who you're wanting to attract as a client. Most of all, have fun!

A lady's website should be a reflection of herself. Don't plagiarise titles/content from another lady's website (btw not saying, not even suggesting you do)

By the same token, use your own photos. Don't use other ladies photos.

(And again, not saying nor suggesting that you do)

Photos should be clear, not grainy. You may wish to invest in getting professional photos taken down the road, although your pictures are good.

But keep your photos current. I've seen one lady's profile and her photos haven't been updated for four years (at least)...too long

Personally, I think any talk of services, acronyms etc is risky given C36. Keep your website to offering time and companionship nothing more.

And no discussing of services/acronyms in emails either

I said at the beginning that a lady's website should reflect herself. JMHO but a lady is not in competition with other ladies. A gentlemen may be looking for a lady just like you, and the only one who is really like you, is you. So be yourself, and your website should reflect who you are

If you're going to be advertising on cerb, you really can't copy from another lady, or you can get banned, or get a nasty infraction. Not that anyone is copying from anyone. If anyone is copying bring this issue to the mods and they will take care of it, or it's pretty much airing out your dirty laundry publicly and that just causes unnecessary drama. Just some info since R.G. brought this topic up.

FYI I wasn't airing any dirty laundry, nor suggesting anyone air dirty laundry. Just a general comment about not using another ladies photos or plagiarising when doing their own website BTW recently a lady had her photos stolen from her website and used on another SP's website. The offending SP not on CERB so she couldn't be reported.

I personally have seen (and reported) a few plagiarised (some verbatim) ad titles on CERB But always reported, never aired publically.

But I don't want for one second anyone thinking I am suggesting to anyone to air out dirty laundry or that anyone should be airing out dirty laundry. Any issues, take it to Mod, he'll look after it

RG, I'm sorry if I have offended you. However, since you brought up the copying topic. I was trying to be helpful and trying to point people in the right direction, if whomever has this problem on cerb. You never know if someone else will have copying issues. I was also not trying to imply that you were airing out dirty laundry. However, it is a good point to bring any issues to the mod, so it can be quietly resolved. I know I myself could make some rash decisions in the heat of the moment. Just trying to help, that's all.

You describe succinctly who you are and what you like. The look and feel of your site says companionship is what you offer. Your pictures confirm that you do not need a professional shoot to have great images. They show you clearly, yet are discreet. From elsewhere, your pictures with you on top of Veronica are hot!!

 

Lastly, I exclusively browse using a BlackBerry PlayBook and I was pleasantly surprised to find your site accessible using my browser. Many new escort sites do not optimize for all current browsers, a pet peeve of mine.

 

In my opinion, you have created the perfect courtesan website.

Thank you so much :) everyone's advice and comments are greatly appreciated. I am also a bit nervous about Bill c36. Especially as a new SP, it's quite difficult finding clients these days.

Lisbeth, it seems to me you've gotten good advice and have a good approach to not just your website but also using Twitter, as a broad-based way of marketing. Kudos!

 

So, I don't have anything specific to add, but just in general ...

 

... probably everyone has an opinion on what a website should look like, and some of us are quite adamant.

 

I've been making websites professionally since I made one for HP back in 1996, and I've owned an managed a website-making company since 2007, so ... for what it's worth, the most logical advice I've seen comes from Steve Krug, the author of "Don't Make Me Think!" which is a really good (and thin, and readable) book about what makes a website good. Steve's opinions are in high demand, and last time I hired him (briefly, since he's pricey) he was charging US $400 per hour and even at that hourly rate, he had more work than he could get to. So, for anyone who's making a website, I recommend his book.

 

It's hard for me to summarize my own idea set briefly and enough has been said already, so I'll say one thing (NOT aimed at anyone in particular) and then I'll leave it at that: in many fields of endeavour it seems unnecessary to pay a professional, and yet those who do ... get to discover that it's often a prudent decision. I'm always a little surprised that folks who'll hesitate to fix their broken TV or go rewire the fuel injection on their own car will nevertheless jump in with both feet and make their own website ...

I agree with tanya, a website says a lot about you and who you are -- a well considered site says you take your work seriously. Give hiring a professional, a designer, a go! Make sure you find one that knows about responsive design (so it works on all platforms!) and accessibility, it's about more than concise information and good looks. Not all of them cost $400 / hr.
