Independent or Not??

The main reason I would choose a spa over an independent is that certain spa's have established a great reputation. I prefer CMJ (mostly because of Melodie :icon_biggrin:), but there are other great places in Ottawa and it surely depends on what type of experience you're looking for.

 

Also, CMJ hold parties regularly which allows you to meet several ladies socially before making a decision as to who you'll see. They also offer trifectas (3 at once), which I have not seen available anywhere else (but I could be wrong).

 

I have been told that CMJ's policy is to make sure that members do not run into one another (outside the parties of course). I would think that accidental bump-ins are unlikely. Hasn't happened to me. And I agree with the post by mmad: If I did run into someone I know at a spa, I think I would probably befriend them even more. It might be cool to know someone in Ottawa to share experiences with. Hell, I might even offer to participate in a trifecta with them... Just saying.

 

Not attending spa's? I think you're missing out. But if I did meet an indy that I clicked with, let's say at a cerb social, then yeah I'd consider seeing them privately. Or if a spa girl I liked went indy, I would certainly see her privately after she left.

My concern with spas is not running into people I know, but being there if there is a "visit" from bylaw officers or law enforcement. I've read about this happening in Toronto spas on other boards, but wasn't sure if this also happens in Ottawa.

 

There's only two incidents I recall in the last few years around here.

 

First: a spa on the Quebec side was raided and shut down, which IIRC was because it was right next to a daycare or something (I don't know which was there first). I don't know whether anyone was actually prosecuted or not, but I don't recall hearing about it.

 

Second: ISTR that when Operation Northern Spotlight happened (the first one), one or two spas got visits from LE, as did some independent ladies. But those weren't aimed at catching clients; the official reason was to check up on the well-being of the ladies working and to ensure they were all old enough and not trafficked. They never explained how going after well-established indies and spas was going to help with this, though.

 

Of course, people whose day-jobs are in law enforcement visit spas in an unofficial capacity all the time, but that's an entirely different matter :)

I'm sure any other spa would too, if you asked :) The main problem would be coordinating the MAs' schedules, but that's going to be the same anywhere.

And I'm not sure why one would think, in the unlikeliness of this happening, that it would likely occur at a Spa as opposed to an Indy???

Oh, I still go to both, but I would not be surprised if some places have videos. Now what is done with the videos is the question. If you ever watch the bunny ranch, they have the cameras in the rooms, but they see used for protection/security. They don't make videos, etc. because like you started, they want to keep their business running. But, it's just something that I think of when I go to an Incall. I feel more relaxed in a Incall hotel vs spa, etc. That's just me...don't want to get anyone upset...

I am quite comfortable seeing both, but tend toward indies as I like them to get a better payday, not have to give up the door to the spa. Before you jump on me for that comment, I do understand that they do have their own expenses to cover. I do the spa now and then as their is always someone there that piques my fancy. I also am a little different in that I have my own massage table, and comfortable inviting a lady to my place once I get to know her.

I remember reading a thread a long time ago where it was mentioned that the spas often had a camera or two on the front door, but nothing in the rooms - this is so that they have a record of who's visited if anyone tries anything really nasty. This strikes me as being a sensible precaution.

 

One other thing on spas: for me, they're very good for those situations when I'm thinking, "Well, I'll go if I have time." Under circumstances like that you can't book much in advance with anyone (making a habit of cancelling will tend to give you a bad reputation), but you can see who's on schedule at the spas and then call them when you know you're free and see if the MA you'd like to see happens to be available.

I agree with Phaedrus on the issue of scheduling. It allows much more flexibility for booking last minute.

 

It also works great if the MA you have booked an appointment is feeling sick or has to cancel last-minute: you can substitute rather easily with another MA at the same location. That's why I find Angel's Touch, Paradise Spa and CMJ in Ottawa so awesome: you are garanteed a good time with a hot girl when you show up. There are just too many to choose from. :icon_wink:

I agree with Sentimental that I'd prefer that the lady gets the entire amount and not share a door fee with the spa, so that's why I tend to be a generous tipper.

 

I expect that several spa MA's rely on the spa providing the location, security and advertizing. If you are indy, then you need a place to operate out of, perhaps a massage table, and you have to get all your clients yourself and deal with the occasional idiot too.

 

Now, getting your clients probably wouldn't be an issue for the lady who started this thread (Malibu, you are total babe! :icon_biggrin:), but it might be for some.

Malibu and I had this conversation last week.

 

The input is candid and valued and I'm grateful to each and everyone of you that chimed into the conversation.

 

Here are my thoughts on some of the things posted. I can really only speak from my personal experience at CMJ, as it's the only place I've ever "worked":

 

Privacy:

• walking into the building - our building has the right amount of people coming and going for it to be comfortable and there is zero labeling on the outside of the building at all that it contains a Hostess Lounge. If there was a beaming sign outside that said "you sexy neighborhood rub n tug" I could see it being a bit horrifying.
  
  
• meeting someone in the hall - an incredibly rare occurrence that we, as hostesses, try to prevent at all costs. Sometimes I wish it wasn't so awkward shuffling someone back into a room, but we usually just laugh it off. We peek into the hallways and can hear the doors open and close so we typically know if someone is wandering the halls.
  
  
• cameras - we have cameras only in common areas and definitely not in the rooms or bathrooms. That's for our safety and security, not for our pervy viewing pleasure ;).
  
  

 

Experience:

• bonding with your MA - I absolutely love getting to know my guests. Do all indies take the time to get to know you? I would say some do and some don't. I think it's the same with a spa. Thankfully we have CERB so we can chit chat about what you like prior to a session. Longer sessions are also very accommodating to cerebral massage.
  
  
• clock watching - even when we're having a great time (which is most of the time) we still have to be mindful of the time. If you're concerned for time, we encourage you to book more time. I/we want you to have the best experience and enjoy yourself and not all of us are made with exceptional internal clocks. Sometimes we're booked back to back, sometimes we're not and have a bit more leeway with time. I'm mutually concerned with not being late for my next appointment and making sure my current guest doesn't feel rushed (which I don't like either.)
  
  

 

Concern for the MA:

• scheduling her own time - for the most part, we make our own schedules. If we need to be somewhere before or after and it's not a common last-minute occurrence, Jasmine says "no problem." If we want to run down the street to grab a coffee, bite to eat, or shop at bit, we do that too and give her a heads up that we're stepping out so she can let the members know we'll need a few minutes to get back. I've even gone to yoga class in the middle of a shift because it wasn't particularly busy and there were enough ladies on to cover. I can't speak for other spas, but CMJ is very accommodating. I even book sessions when I'm not scheduled because I can :)
  
  
• making sure she gets all the proceeds - to be completely blunt: this is our choice to make. The MAs that work in an establishment do so for a variety of reasons: safety, security, marketing, camaraderie (which is big for us), having a set schedule, not dealing with "idiots", not having overhead, running much smaller risks both personally, legally and financially, and the list goes on. If you're concerned for us and are staying away because we might get a smaller paycheck, we're definitely going to have a smaller pay check if you don't come see us at all. WealthyCowboy is very kind and generous to tip well, but we understand that isn't an option for everyone.
  
  

 

Having heard the indy/spa discussion from a hobbyist's perspective, I definitely have a better understanding, so again, thank you for sharing. Malibu, thank you for asking. I could sped some light on team spa ;)

Hi everyone! I am curious about how guys feel about seeing a MA who is independent versus seeing a MA who is employed by a spa or an agency. Does this factor into your decision making when deciding to see a new lady or is it pretty irrelevant? I've always wondered about the client's perspective on this. This is a tricky one. And being a veteran of the business both escort and massage provider, I believe I have a good answer to this. It depends on the guy. Really. I have spoken to so many men about this. And it's a personal choice. There are many fans of both.

 

Independent MA; location may not be up to the luxurious standards of a spa such as Paradise (a little bias, I know)

Independent MA may not have the training or skills that a lady working in a spa would.

 

Spa Ladies; Trained, professional (hopefully)

Location is usually safer for both MA and client

Downfall is MA's working in spas are very discreet about the mileage you will get with them. So sometimes a man just have to take a chance on a girl, even if she can't discuss restrictions openly.

Spa ladies tend to be more expensive (however not always the case)

A general rule of thumb for men seeking service though, you get what you pay for. Spa ladies are checked out, approved of, and usually highly recommended.

I respect both types of Massage providers. As I have been on both sides of the fence.

Why I chose to work in a spa; it's safer, more discreet, less lonely between calls (other beauties to chat with) It's more disciplined, when it comes to keeping a schedule, which for me is good. Mileage may vary with every client! Of course I try to give my best service always, but if I have a client that is clean, kind, and generous, you better believe it he will get a little extra something, something. I hope this helped.
