oh puuuuuulease.... nobody said any of that crap. Good grief. Now, if I'd said chop off their hands and poke their eyes out so they can never ever type nasty hateful and violent things ever again... then I might have been suggesting that the punishment should exceed the crime. I said they maybe can't be dentists... and what a drag. Sucks for them. Not for everyone else, just for them. They can do a whole host of other good, meaningful, useful and essential work. That's what happens when you make a colossal fuk up like they did.

I am hearing the point loud and clear. I don't happen to agree with it, therefore I am exercising my right to make my point. I don't agree with using those words in this context as they're a gross exaggeration IMO. I don't agree with the banning of the words on any day. I do happen to agree with healthy debate and the right of all to voice their opinions. There are people who have suffered real atrocity at the hands of others in the name of 'justice'. That is not what is happening here. Not even close. These 13 have not had their hands cut off, or their feet hobbled. Certainly they haven't been lynched or slaughtered. Some people have. So maybe they can't be dentists. They can type, flip burgers, change tires, and pour coffee as easily as the next guy.

It's been a common practice in our society to punish people for wrongdoing for a very very long time. I don't see why this situation would be any different. Whether the wrongdoing ended up being a criminal one, or a moral one, or whatever there are punishments and consequences in place to respond to that wrongdoing and they are now subject to those repercussions..... kind of like everybody else in this country who commits a wrongdoing. If a person commits a moral misdeed and loses their job that is nobody's fault but their own. If the result is a lower paying job,that is their fault. It's not really the same as being killed/lynched/slaughtered. Those words are not synonymous with administrative due process and potential professional limitations or sanctions and the suggestion that they are is really starting to irritate people.

I tour all over that area and never have I run into anyone offering me email addresses of their clients. The only place I know of that lists client emails and numbers is the BCL. It is strange that nobody else is experiencing this phenomenon. Have you asked her/them where she/they got your contact info?

If one of the female students targeted by the Dalhousie "gentlemen" had pulled out a gun and shot those men in response to their writings would that be ok? It's a matter of perspective. Some people obviously think mocking a religious leader is as abhorrent an act as killing a cartoonist. I think we should fight pen and paper with like weapons. Not with gun and bullets. Therefore the Dalhousie students are getting off easy (the hearing won't be completed til after grad) and the cartoonists got completely fucked over. My personal opinion.

awesome new gloves for skiing that have grippy palms so I don't drop my phone when I'm taking pics. They also have fingers that you can still use touch controls through. Super cool.

If this had been one student, making a single stupid post, it might have passed as a "mistake". It went way beyond that. Things don't have to be criminal to be wrong in some people's mind.

mmhmm well maybe ''reason'' would have been better than "excuse". Their age isn't one. There is no expectation of privacy on a facebook group that included in it's name the name of their school. They should have called it the "Stupid Dentist Students Group". But they didn't. My son wasn't lynched. He was punished, shamed and forced to make restitution. As they should be. edit: Steve ... they DID do something .. they typed it on a facebook group named after their school!!

I hear you ... but I think that's a lame excuse. Here's why. My son did something really stupid in grade nine. Nobody was hurt, but I suppose someone could have been. Regardless, the act was irresponsible, and although not criminal, most certainly not acceptable in a school setting. He was expelled for the remainder of the semester. His academics suffered. He was shamed. He was punished. In grade nine. 13 years old.

hahaha.. otay ;) seriously. I have a son who will be 24 next week. He's no kid, and hasn't been able to use that lame excuse since he blew out his 18th candle. He is a grown man and expected to behave like one.

when did they regress into kids? I thought these were fourth year university students. On one hand we're accused of emasculating the western man, and on the other we're overreacting to a bunch of silly kid behaviour.

They didn't just think these thoughts. They thought about it. Then they went a bit further.... They sat down at a keyboard and typed them out. They shared them with the group. The group discussed the thoughts. Some agreed and expanded on the thoughts. It appears, although I'm no expert on behaviour, that they were enjoying it, were entertained, even aroused by it. Sooooooooo much more than a dirty thought that stays in one's own mind. Just sayin' ps.. it wasn't stupid to start this .. I think we've had a really good discussion. And still are. :)
