today I moved my daughter to Montreal. She is going to MC Gill university, that was the hardest thing I ever done. If you think man cant cry you are wrong. I just felt that I needed to share that.

As someone who's son is on the other side of the planet, I can totally sympathize with you Carlos. There is nothing wrong with being emotional when it comes to loving your children!

Thank you for sharing such an important thing with us Carlos. Coincidentally I just got back from bringing mom to the airport and let me tell you I can guarantee your daughter will be missing you lots too but remember geographical distance does not separate people who care about each other :)

I agree with spud. Real men show their feelings and are not afraid to cry.

The roughest night of my life was the first Christmas after the divorce. The kids spent Christmas eve with me; I had to drop them off at their mom's late Christmas eve and drive home alone. Bawled like a baby.

Carlos, it takes a strong man to show his true feelings. My 11 year old daughter left for Vancouver today for 2 weeks to be with her grandparents. It was difficult for me to watch her go because I realized just how fast she's growing up. You sound like a loving, caring, compassionate father. This world needs more fathers like you.

I graduated from McGill 2 years ago and I can tell you that your daughter going to that university is the best thing that will happen to her! It's a great university (though very hard), but the people she will meet, the multicultural environment will live in, the cultural life she will experience, the good times and the bad she will spend there are going to be the most enriching experiences in her life. I am still trying to get over the memories from McGill and from Montreal.

This is something to celebrate and to be happy about. Your daughter will have the best time of her life. Once you realize that, you will be accept the separation from her more easily. Congrats!!

I can fully relate to this from a different perspective as I was the son in my late teens early twenties (not the father) who had to say good bye to my family at the airports on many occasions to come overseas for higher education. Not sure if I would have seen them again a year later and yes everytime I had tears in my eyes.

Even now more than twenty years later, everytime I take my visiting mother (my dad and uncle both passed away recently:cry:) to the airport (again not sure if I will see her again next summer), I have tears in my eyes. We men have hearts too and it bleeds just like any heart. I have no problem in admitting that my friends.

Family is one of the most important things. Without them ultimately it can feel sometimes as if you have nothing.

I think a bond between a parent and a child (being a mother myself) cannot be compared to any kind of love out there in the world. It is the strongest love I have ever known.

And yes, for a man to openly be able to express his feelings I think that it is incredible as not many are able to and I think that being able makes you all that much more better of a man not being scared of hiding your feelings.

Congratulations on your daughters Univeristy! This will be something that will make a new beginning for her and its memories like this you will want to cherish as she steps out into the world.

On a cheerful note Carlos, your daughter will have a great time in that lovely city while studying in that best university. I used to study for my latest degree at Concordia (having joint engineering program with McGill) and those years were the best years of my life. So much to do in Montreal, potential for making so many new friends, such a safe fun city to live and prestigous university to study and graduate. I call Montreal as heaven on earth. I plan to move there for life in 15 years after I retire (yes will be too old for partying but I am sure there are so much other cultural, scientific artistic stuff in that city to enjoy life even at old age).

So, I can understand the pain in your heart as a result of separation from your loved one (likely for the first time), however, rest assure that your daughter is safe and happy where she is and will be prosperous after graduation.

I am not a parent, but I have family back home. I didn't want to leave Windsor, I love my home and Detroit as well, which was like my second home.

There's nowhere else in the rest of Canada or America quite like it,

we are a mixture of both cultures which the end result of is amazing.

I left the only home I've ever known, my friends, my family and everything I knew to come to a new city where i didn't know a soul.

I tried to stay as long as I could but with all the car factory closings and the majority of the city un-employed, my clients simply could not afford to see me anymore.

I left and and was terribly sad, i missed my loved ones terribly and to be honest cried alot my first few weeks here but....

I came here to go to school and get out of a city where there's no future. I still miss my "old" life, but now i am happy and I have met some awesome people and look forward to meeting more.I know it sounds cliche, but I look at it as a new chapter in my life. Change is necessary for growth and if nothing ever changed, how boring would life be?

I say all that to say this....your daughter is probably sad too....but she is walking into one of the best and defining moments of her life, and will cherish these days for the rest of her life.

Its comforting i think to know that your loved ones are going to be happy and safe and loved while you're not physically there to support them.

If she's smart enough to get into McGill she'll BE ALRIGHT!!!!

Christmas will be here before you know it....she'll be home again soon:)

*Big Hugs*

I feel for you. Real men do cry and show emotion, you love your child, it is a natural reaction. No matter how old she gets she will always be your little girl. The distance will be hard but there are ways around that with webcams and such and this is both your moment to be sad but to be very proud also. It's the next chapter and embrace it.

Not to be a party pooper ... but I don't understand why you are talking about this on an escorts review board.

Carlos Montana in my opinion is a part of this community and felt the need to share. This is the General Discussion Area and is open to discuss whatever we may like as long as you follow the rules, it is here to help, educate and support one another. It is not always about sex all the time. It also shows that he feels comfortable enough to share with us his feelings and his post was received very positively. Sometimes things need to be left unsaid or they can be taken the wrong way when you respond. Just my humble opinion.

It is NOT a REVIEW board, it is recommendation board.;)

That said, there is a lot of general off topic (sex) discussions, where you may or may not join in the discussion. If someone has something to tell, so be it. We either discuss or we don't.

Carlos my kids are almost at that age, I'm quite certain it will be the same affect with me,if either head off. BTW congrats on your daughter going to a top University in Canada.

Because we are a community, here is where we share our thoughts, feelings, and opinions much like you would a group of friends over lunch or a drink after work. We celebrate milestones, and offer strong shoulders for support when needed to our brothers and sisters. If you think this board is just about sex then you're in the wrong place.

Carlos, as difficult as this day was for you understand that as your daughter grows and learns not only the lessons taught at school but the lessons that life is about to teach her as she embarks on this journey, remember that she will love you forever and think of you everyday as she recalls the love and life's lessons you have shared with her over all these years.

Thanks sharing this turning point with us.

Left 5 young nephews a sister and my mom back in Kimberley BC 2 years ago. I haven't seen any of them since. Don't get me wrong, I love it here, but I know how you feel.
