Ladies: what are the pros and cons when working for an agency, and/or being an independant?

 

Gentlemen, what are the pros and cons when calling a lady from an agency and or/independant?

 

Personally, agency's dont give the girls a break, (keep in mind im not referring to ALL of them, so, plz dont take offense). In my experiences, ive gotten fined for no reason, been in the middle of a "favortism" game, as well as have to do calls that i was not comfortable going back to. Now the Pros; agencies are already established, they have a reputaion already, so you know you're going to get work, ive lived in an agency house and they have good food, is clean, and was like a big family. And you feel safer because there is always someone around.

 

the cons of being an idependant in my opinions are safety issues, incalls for me are more dangerous, im bringing someone to my private residence, and if i dont have another girlfriend there, or close by, i dont feel its as safe. (outcalls i have a personal driver, so i dont have a problem with that)

the pros are that you make your own hours, control your own bookings, and earn all donations.

How much of the donation goes to the lady in an agency, and how much is the agency cut, driver's fees, cell phone etc etc etc. It appears to me as an outsider, seeing what a lady's rates are in an agency vs independent, that a agency lady after expenses, would make much less per hour (I may be wrong on this) than an independent...me, for the time spent with a lady, I want her to receive the donation

As for security, different ladies have different methods. Some like the guy to provide a reference, email, phone, some have a verification process including your full real name, CERB handle, reference, phone number, and some have only required email/phone/first name.

Find a screening method you are comfortable with.

Oh yes, recently I have strong preference to see independents. This way I don't have to worry about how they are being treated by agencies, how much of their donation they have to give away, if they provide the services willingly or not, and many other things. Also indies likely provide better services because they wish to retain good clients as some of those working for agencies may not have this incentive. I have had two no shows in my entire three years of hobbying and in both cases it was agencies. Indies are also safer and more discrete to have them in my private home (I am outcall only). I don't wish to discuss this one in any details lol!!!.

 

I do call for agencies when I don't have enough time to hunt for indies.It is an advantage to find a quick date as someone is always available with short notice. Also I call a particular oriental agency as they have ladies of my type (natural).

IMHO, I choose indies over agencies simply because I want to know that my money's going to the lady who's actually providing me with service. I know that agencies that don't run 'above board' are a little rare on this site, but I like to stay on the safe side and not have to worry about whether something is going on behind closed doors to hurt the lady concerned with my money.

 

No offence intended to the agencies and ladies that run totally legit, I just have my personal preference this way.

I cannot provide an opinion one way or another as to the advantages or disadvantages of being represented by someone else. I am probably too old to even entertain the idea LOL. I just prefer to be my own boss as I have been since my twenties (in my previous career). I cannot even fathom having any take control of any aspect of my life :)

This topic pops up often and usually contains alot of facts, but often alot of fiction too.

 

For example it is a fact that when a lady works with or for an agency, she pays an agency fee. However as any good Indy knows there are alot of costs involved in running her personal business.. Advertizing is not free, airtime is not free. But one of the biggest things most clients don't really understand, and many ladies come to realize quickly is the business is not always a constant flow. In fact it often comes in pockets of business. And when the phone rings it rings.. sometimes off the hook, and sometimes you have to check it to see if it even works..lol.. and that is just the way it is..

 

If you are an indy, on your own.. its pretty hard to be with a client and book your calls.. and often a caller will just continue on to the next ad till he finds someone who is free. Obviously not all the time, but often this is the case. So a lost opportunity, or a few opportunities ends up being a huge financial factor long term.. Especially if the client finds someone they enjoy and never calls back.

 

Another fact, most ladies that work with or for Agencies do so out of free will.. And the vast majority were an indy at one time or another. This isn't Thailand folks, if ladies aren't happy somewhere they move on.. End of story.. Sometimes its the agency, sometimes its the lady.. it happens alot and will always be the case in this very emotionally charged environment.

 

So when you go to the Doctors office, most of the time you have to go through a secretary.. And when you go to your accountants office, they have a secretary... So as a Professional Sexworker, why wouldnt have someone to help with some of the legwork? For many ladies, it makes things more efficient for them, ends up being more profitable long term and alot safer as a whole.

 

And all of this isnt even counting in alot of ladies that appear to be independant, but actually have security and a phone person who is a "friend" answering the phone. So at the end of the day, how "Indy" are they really? Alot of it is symantics.. And that is also a fact..

I personally have no preference. Its kinda nice to get to knows the ladies a bit better which is more likely to happen with an independent, but my last visit was with a lady from an agency.

Being an indy is great -- IF you can manage time and money and have some sort of business sense. (or a good knowledge of the escort industry.)

 

It's time consuming, you have only yourself to blame if you screw up... and yes, it costs money... sometimes lots of money. But, I choose who I see, when (not all agencies give you this choice, some do.) and I get to keep all the money I make. (Which doesn't always have to go to expenses.)

 

 

I started with an agency and I'm glad I did as I knew far less when I started than I do now.

 

They took the calls, hired the driver, tried to send me to good gents and at least called before and after calls to make sure I was alright. I still had to buy things, (condoms, stockings, clothes) but they took care of pictures and ads and did take some steps to try and keep me safe.

 

Unfortunately, not every agency is good, they do take a fee, may advertise you differently than you would leading to clients you wouldn't normally see... and you have to deal with one more person than just your client.

 

You're (typically) not as 'in control' when working for an agency, but if you can't handle running your own business or simply like working (or are more comfortable) with an agency... Why not work with one?

 

 

EVERY job is going to have pros and cons... what works for one person may not work for another.

 

You can't say all agencies are crappy anymore than you can say all independents aren't really independent. (Which some of us most certainly are...)

Some ladies just prefer to have someone else handle the business side of things for them. Some don't like the drudgery of the business details. Some prefer to clock out, go home, and not have to worry about work during their down-time - such as the headaches of booking appointments, creating and posting ads, and handling endless inquiries. Some ladies only plan to be in the business for a short time, or don't feel comfortable or knowledgeable enough to do everything on their own when they're just starting out.

I have only seen Indy's but that is mainly due to the fact there are no agencies in my area with any credibility. If a reputable one was established, or if I was visiting another city where there was an established one I would be open to booking through them.

I've never worked for an agency. I've always been independent. Having control over things has been very important to me, from the start. That said, it's true that it's more work, sometimes harder work, to do everything myself. In any case, I don't think any agency would want to represent me at my age.

 

What I like best is that I talk to the client before we meet. I find out what he's looking for and how that might dovetail with what I offer. I don't see someone only because he'd asked for a specific activity that I'm willing to provide. For me, compatibility requires more than that. I really do think of my meetings as "experiences" more than anything else and I like to be able to tailor meetings to suit each individual client.

Your time can intimate regardless if the lady is an Indy or working for an agency. I have seen a lady working for PK for 6 weeks, and the passion is there just as much if she was on her own, or in fact the same passion I have had with other Indy ladies.

I feel it depends on what you are personally comfortable with with an agency they do all the leg work for you ie place ads book apointments all you have to do is show up

but as an indy you have to do all the leg work yourself but it is rewarding you pick your days off and your your own boss

Again, Not sure how other agencies work, but if you are being represented.. As an agency really should be doing, as opposed to employing.. Then really you CAN pick your days off, so effectively you are in control.

 

As far as being incharge of advertising costs and airtime and all of the incidentals, they really add up.

 

When a lady works with a proper agency, those costs are taken out of the equation for her. Yes the agency fee is there, but when you figure out what really comes in after expenses a very large part of that fee goes back into the business.. in things like photoshoots and extra advertizing specific to the ladies.. A BP ad is 7 dollars.. how many ads do you think it takes per lady per day to keep her ad current? about 6-8.. per lady. (toronto).

 

Of course, any business exists to make a profit.. But the reality is its not a free ride for agencies either.

 

Another thing that comes into play is time. Time is important, especially time away from the business. Being independant.. You often have to be saturated in the business alot of the day.. An agency lady gives schedule, and that is the end of her responisbility until she books on.. Huge difference.. So that is also a big part of what freedom is all about, isnt it?

 

Reason I am bringing all of these things up, is many members and clients don't really see all of these sides to the equation when they decide whether to see an Indy or Agency lady. I just want to separate some fact from fiction.

Personally if I lived someplace else I would probably go with an agency. I like having my free time and not having to deal with time wasters and such. That being said I do enjoy all the freedoms I enjoy as an independent but with a good agency I don't think it would be too different. I'd love to go touring and I think it would be much easier with an agency. That's just my thoughts for the day. I think both have their pros and cons

but if everyone is having fun, doing what they want to do and are safe who cares!

Truthfully I'm kind of sick of these discussions because there are always a few who have the mentality that somehow independents are better than agency girls, when really it comes down to the provider herself and what she is more comfortable with.

 

I worked for an agency when I first started and I do not regret the experience. I am still the same escort, whether independent or agency.

I agree this may be true in many cases however, in my cases I started seeing a number of ladies as indies after they became independent (and I saw them too when they were with agency) and in my personal experience they provided a better GFE service (more emotionally intimate) to me when they saw me as independents. (coming over all by themselves rather than being escorted by a driver, no one to call back when they arrive or at the end, no call in the middle of the date or at the end by driver reminding them of time, even some chose to stay after the hour was over in some cases or some accepting a ride back. In summary, just like a perfect date in many cases lol). In my cases it is more like a reality than mentality lol. Now true may be exceptions but I am talking about a number of different ladies not just one case. I do agree that it is the same lady, indie or otherwise, but likely in the case of indies the business incentive is stronger but I could be wrong.

In the past couple of months, I have seen ladies working for PK and I say that they are quite happy working for PK (and no this is not a sales pitch for PK folks, as I have been seeing indies as well during this time) when they come from Montreal. As one lady said, "Why would I want to put up with all the crap,I work for an agency in Montreal too, and the guys there can be horrible to deal with" only cause I asked her if she worked on her own in Montreal.

Not entering any argument either Pete, but as I clearly mentioned in my post, my comments were based on my personal experiences and I wasn't trying to sell anything to you or anyone else. I was just trying to respond to the question asked by the OP from the gent hobbyists point of view. I wasn't doing a sale pitch for any particular agency lol!!!!! or any particular indie either (or against any agency or indie as I did NOT mention any agency name or indie!!!!) just my own personal experience that the ladies that I used to see with an agency, I saw them after they quit that agency and my personal experiences was a lot more emotional GFE for the reasons described in my post. You are of course entitled to your opinions and me to mine (based on my personal experience). I am not rulling out agencies and as I said I still call reputable agencies.
