Pros and cons for face pics

Recommended Posts

Guest *D E**a

Wondering the pros and cons of Sp's showing their face in profile pics. I do not show my face even though I am sure it would help men decide to book me. I have heard of girls being unable to cross the boarder because they are recognized from their pics and having random people call you out in public. Would like to hear how others feel about this....thanks!

I didn't bother hiding my face from day one, but with all of my tattoos, if someone from my personal life saw my pics they'd recognize me with or without the face showing.

I get recognized in public, I've received texts from people who say they saw me on the street or sat near me on a patio. I find it flattering - but I'm also completely out about what I do in my life so have no reason to hide.

I have had a few gentlemen tell me they booked with me because of my funny face photos or my smile - so for me, showing has also increased business!

My personal decision is not to. Until prostitution is decriminalized, I doubt I will show my face. I don't want this coming back to haunt me. I get enough clientele posting photos of my body only, so I don't see any benefit in posting my face.

I used to show face pics in the past and while it did increase my business a lot more and I made a lot of money, there are too many nut jobs out there who will take advantage of this. I had a situation happen to me in public where I had someone following me because they recognized me and after that day, I never showed my face again. Plus I'm sure when I had a website, so many guys downloaded those pictures and used them for their own purposes which I do not need to elaborate on. I had SP groupies obsessed with these pictures and the list goes on. When you put yourself out there like that, there are many consequences and it's something I'm not willing to risk. You cannot put a price tag on your privacy.

I have chosen to not show my face as I am very private about my personal life and my friends and family do not know about this industry. I believe that if you're unable to be completely open about it, for whatever reason, there's ways to have beautiful, sexy pictures taken that will increase business. :bigclap:

It should be noted there are also clients that will contact you because you don't put your face out there, they may not be as numerous as those that like to see your face in advance but if you are the type of lady that enjoys dates in a public setting these clients will value discretion and a number of them will seek you out because you are not so readily recognizable to the general public. I have had many clients contact me because I cannot be so easily spotted when out in public, I have gone on travel dates, to conferences, fundraisers, dinners, etc. with clients and many appreciate the fact that even if we see someone they know they can introduce me as "abc" from "xyz" so that person doesn't know I was a hired companion.

Because I am in a small town, I have to hide who I am. So there is no way I would show my face. Now that being said my family does know what I do, and they accept me for who I am.

I think I am one of those gentlemen; Cleo's smile won me over :)

I would say I'm one of those persons who has booked with Cleo based on her face pics. A good face pic can be very indicative of a girl's spirit and personality. And Cleo's in particular were irresistable to me. And continue to be.

Come to think of it. Since discovering I could find escorts online and leaving the days of scanning the ottawa sun behind me *shudder*, I don't think I've ever booked with a sp who didn't have at least a partial face pic. I can completely understand and respect a sp's decision to hide her face. The downside's to showing his/her face are pretty self-explanatory (discretion, safety, etc). But I guess personally I prefer face pics..

I too , am certain that I would gain more clients if I showed my gorgeous face :icon_wink:, but at the end of the day, the extra gain in my finances would mean nothing due to the fact that it could destroy my personal and family life.

I still plan on exiting this business when I attain full time employment, I still go on many interviews, workshops, and testing sessions.....therefore to me, it is so not worth it...and your right Nicki, many of our pics are downloaded on onto whoever's computer......To me if you are out about it...it may be easier to show your face...and if your not, I would not suggest it, because unfortunately, we cannot control other's behavior....sometimes when we are out and about ( outside of escorting) you have to worry about the men you have actually previously met, I could not deal with people knowing me and what I do because they seen me in pics linked to escorting.

The most important reason, my #1 , is because I have a child. The thought of my daughter seeing this stuff, especially since it's all online....is terrifying.

Although my money helps me support my child, she deserves a happy, safe & care free childhood like I had....so therefore NO face pics for me.

Understandable for ladies to want to keep their faces hidden...and for the ladies I have met where I didn't know what they looked like ahead of time, it was a pleasant surprise to meet them face to face

As for the ladies who post pictures of their face, it is nice to see, and I respect the ladies' decision for showing their faces...but again, as in each and every photo, the ladies have all looked better in person (and they have great pictures btw)

But as ED Man says, it's personality that is most important...for me the photos are the eye catcher, but once my eye is caught, I look at the lady's profile/website/threads etc, anything to get an idea if we would be compatable and enjoy each other's company

Hopefully one day seeing escorts will become as mainstream and acceptable as on-line dating sites, which not that long ago, was something not that mainstream (or at least not considered that mainstream)

As for me, my best features are my posts...if I posted my pictures the ladies would be running away LOL

Has clearly pointed out my issues for having face pics in your profile. Easily recognizable. The thought of people knowing who I am and me with no face to go with it gives me shudders. I had been tossing about face pics and will not be adding any. I do applaud those that do. I think Cleo and Sara are very hot :D Tiffany Amber is gorgeous! I do understand the tattoo issue...as I have added more it's become difficult to hide them in my photos and why I don't have as many. Discretion is key though...how discreet is it when anyone with access to Cerb knows what you look like?

Vanessa this is for you ... :bigclap:

It all resumes in a word that has been mentioned .. DISCRETION and as we read in Kyra's post is for both parts not only for the lady. This is actually a topic I discussed with the first few gentlemen I met since I was starting to learn about the industry and having seen ladies with face pictures made me think I was perhaps doing something wrong but still never even contemplated changing my mind. I then found there were a lot other ladies that do not have facial photos and understood there was no rule for that.

My reasons?

The first one on the list is because one day I plan to have a family and I would hate someone showing or telling my kid about those pictures.

Also, my family does not know about me being an escort and good or bad I know it would hurt them, not something I would like to do. I also prefer to be on the safe side by not having any evidence that would cause trouble like what someone mentioned about being stopped at the boarder.

And yeah Emma is right we just have Sara's recent and unfortunate experience as an example of the consequences of that and I'm not saying is wrong for her to have face pictures, she was not prepared for that indiscretion from the SP in question but handled it well because she knows it comes with the exposure part.

In my opinion there's no right or wrong when it comes to this but there is a preference that fits in the lady's life style. And the pros and cons well they probably also vary from one lady to another based on what her priorities are.

I have not shown my face in my pics

Most gentlemen that I see are fine with that....

I have only one person that insisted in seeing my face before booking....

I have been on camera in chat so the lucky few that have been have seen my face :)

If requested by a hobbiest then I may consider sending one privately... :)

I agree that if out in public with someone there are no worries about saying that I am so and so...

I believe that as long as you take care of yourself then the men will come

Yes, it's one thing about worrying about running into clients who have met you but it's another thing to have to worry about people recognizing you from website pictures and the fact is you DO NOT know who they are which is what happened to me in the past. At least with a client you know, you can somewhat control the situation or go in the other direction.lol.

I know I could make extra money if I did but I'd rather forgo the extra money and not be paranoid. It is also nice when you don't show your face and clients don't have this certain expectation of what you're going to look like. And it's hard to live up to a professional airbrushed pictures showing you face. Clients tell me my pictures don't do me justice and maybe they don't. I know I'm not a model by any means but it's nice when the client arrives and pays you a compliment telling you that you're pretty.lol. I can get ready, look good and be myself without having to think I have to look a certain way because of what a photographer did.

A quick additional thought. There is an adage that once something is posted on the internet, it is always there (or words to that effect)

So it is understandable that some ladies like that bit of anonymity. Even with their profiles and websites down, who knows who saved what to their computers, and who knows who has the technical savvy to recover old deleted websites off the internet.

When I had my website, I got the web master to put robots.txt file in my pictures so if it were looked up in the internet archives, they would not show up under a search index or when pages on your website have been crawled by search engines, they would be blocked. I have checked and with the exception of 1 or 2 pictures, the rest have been blocked. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=156449

This is absolutely true. Anything that gets out into the wild is completely and forever beyond your ability to control. Which means that face-pics are essentially a one-way trip.

It can be done, especially for recently deleted stuff. Look what happens to politicians who post something silly on Twitter or FB, even if they delete it five minutes later... that's much too late, as Anthony Weiner recently discovered.

The only draw-back for me showing my face is going to be down the road when I want to get a job as a professor. It's true, I might not get hired if universities know of my sex worker past, but it's also true they might not care. Plus, I've always thought that if the university professor route didn't work out, I'd do social/outreach work and get a job with Elizabeth Fry or the ACO.

I've never planned on having my own family (kids are soooo not for me) and my family already knows.

So basically, I don't care if my face is out there.

When I first started in the business, it did not even occur to me that I had the choice to hide my face. Not that I had many worries to begin with. My friends and community members all know, I talk openly about my work in my classes of 100+ people etc etc. The only people that don't know are my parents but they don't live in Ottawa so I feel that there is little chance that they'll figure it out. And if they do, I've prepared myself for that.

Interestingly enough, clients have told me that what caused them to book me were my eyes and so I feel like for me, showing my face is an advantage. Conversely, pretty much every client I've ever met has said that I look better in person that in my photos so in this sense, showing my face can be considered a disadvantage?

Regarding future job opportunities etc, I'm not super into the career-type stuff other than my goal of becoming a university professor. That being said, I think it would be an added advantage to be in this line of work as a women's studies prof as the women's studies academia is becoming more and more sex-positive and sex-work positive (actually the first time I heard some really awesome pro-sex work arguments was in my introduction to women's studies class in university).

Until then, I don't really plan to have jobs in fields that would disprove of my work. These days, all the jobs I apply to, I include that I'm an escort on my Resume and people really value that knowledge.

Things may change and come back to bite me in the ass, but I've always been a fighter and considering how proud I am to be an escort, I'm pretty sure I'll fight whoever gets in my way that thinks otherwise.

Well, if Chris can work at U of O and she used to be a stripper and Shannon Bell can teach at York and do female ejaculation workshops at Lee's Palace, I figure I'm probably okay. But you never know.

I'm with Sky in that if a job actually cares about my past sexual history, that's not a place where I want to work.

Currently, I only want to run my businesses (I have another one besides massage) and I have no interest in being employed. But when the time comes, I will put my sex work experience on my resume.
