Another Song Thread!

Recommended Posts

That's a rocking song but I don't know that it fits criteria 5 - instant recognition in the first few bars. At least not for me and I like CCR.

Anyway this leads me to the midnight ramble and the late great Levon Helm:

Like Midnight Oil, Wolfmother are from Austrailia

Wolfmother - Joker and the Thief

(easy set up for another song, should you choose the easy way )

Well, I've no idea if this is the easy link you were expecting, but... was the Joker also a bartender at one point?

"There must be some way out of here, said the joker to the thief"

Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower

I do like the Stereophonics though.

Lenny Kravitz covered Jimi's "Hey Joe"

Here's the link to that:

but my song is Lenny Kravitz own song, "Black Velveteen":

Awesome song and appropriate given our venue here!

"Black Velveteen's cat smell's like strawberry kittens" Yeah it does, lick.

Have a great day,

Chuck

And what on earth is the connection with Soundgarden, I hear you cry? The both played Bluesfest a couple of years ago, headlining different stages on the same night so I couldn't see them both. Soundgarden got my vote :)

tegan and sara are playing this year the same day as Eric Burdon and I have tickets.

He sounds as good now as he did with the Animals:

Eric Burdon was in the Animals

The Animals covered Nina Simone's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"

Bruce Springsteen credited the Animals version with inspiring "Badlands"

Well I knew we'd get here at some point:

I am a passenger and I ride and I ride ...

Iggy Pop - The Passenger

(which also answers the other thread about CERB handles)
