How about we go from Cat Power to Power Ballads?

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird

Edit:

And for good measure, here's another Great Big Sea song

WHAT!?!?!?!! It's not crap. It's legendary awesomeness!

And since we're dealing with early punk in the UK, hows about the first punk single released there (just before 'Anarchy', IIRC)?

The Damned - New Rose

So given the propensity for hammers in the associated visuals for this album, and given that I've been hankering for an excuse to post this...

Motorhead - The Hammer

And inevitably....

"Weird Al" Yankovic - I Can't Watch This

Oh please...this is supposed to be a serious thread, don't mock it with mockery LOL :-) :-) :-) (actually sorry I didn't come up with that one)

These guys took singing to a new high in lows

Lets all lip sync along to

Milli Vanilli-Blame It On The Rain

Oh, God, Noooooo....

I don't mind Jessica Simpson showing up in the 'boobies' thread, but not here... :)

Here's Nancy Sinatra's (vastly superior) version. Which perhaps, ought to go in the 'legs' group...

In the movie Wonder Boys, Katie Holmes' character always wore cowboy boots. That film has a great soundtrack, but my favourite song on the album is Not Dark Yet

Bob Dylan - Not Dark Yet

(In the lyrics, is it "sense of humanity" or "sensitive manatee?") :D

ahhhhhhh... here's a connection....

Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa absolutely loved and absolutely hated each other.

They did work on each other's stuff....

Here's Captain Beefheart playing background on the Zoot Allures album....

Frank Zappa - Find Her Finer
